Marvellous! Met Bob G once back in 90 or 91 in Frankfurt at the bar of that club, Batschkapp or so, I have difficulties to remember, but it must have been great

Bobby G was at his most adorable when the Primals were like a Sarah band. Thanks for posting! : )

I agree, when I bought " Sonic Flower Groove ", I was really disappointed. Their first two, or even three singles were awesome. Why did they try to become a ROCK band ? We've had way too many of them already.

this was a slice of heaven before they became..."The Primals" -- the dip in the lush valley between the extremis of early Jesus &the Mary Chain and "Screamadelica"

First track is Aftermath from Sonic Flower Groove, third track is Crystal Crescent - a single from 1986 (I think) - it is posted elsewhere on You Tube, fourth track is Subterranean. I've only ever heard Subterranean as part of this session. These were on a Peel Session broadcast by the BBC. You're welcome.

This era of Primal Scream's career has been cruelly overlooked - by themselves as much as anyone else! Maybe one day they'll do an expanded Sonic Flower Groove with all the missing singles and b-sides, sessions, etc. One can but dream...

You're welcome! Their older stuff took all the fuss out of buying birthday pressies for a year or so. I'd just buy friends a copy of Sonic Flower Groove, which bemused them at first as I did this in 1998-9.

Anyone else got a homemade Primal Scream album of all their early sessions, early singles and early live recordings?

Primal Scream before they were shit. Beautiful.

A great band from mid-80s until 1990. Everything after that was rubbish.

To be fair we could have stopped making this sort of music after Big Star recorded Third in the mid 70s :-)

Anyone else hear Morrissey's Everyday is Like Sunday (released ~3 years later) in the second track here (I Love You)?

He formed the bands Spirea X and Adventures in Stereo with his lobgtime girlfriend. He was also hyper egotistical and believed he was god

what they did after this made commercial sense but these hits all sounded a little cheap as well. Rolling Stones ripoffs with Happy Mondays beats or something if you wanna listen at it with a sceptic ear. This first stuff sounds way more timeless and 'honest' if that word means anything to you. (less staged) With Velocity Girl as their absolute peak.
