Primal Rage 2: A Forgotten Legend

Ойындар

Often considered the Holy Grail of cancelled arcade games. This is the product of many hours searching the web for answers about this forgotten gem. In my opinion this game is unfairly bashed and deserves a much better reputation than the one it has. This could have been Atari's grand entrance into the fighting game genre if they had just taken a risk and completed this game. But instead they canned it, leaving behind a lot of unanswered questions. If there's anything you want to know about Primal Rage 2, chances are it's here.
Alright guys, I am officially convinced you are awesome. I never thought this video would get more than a few thousand views. But, HOLY COW, I got 100,000! You guys are the rockingest fans ever! Thanks for all the support and likes you've given me. If you want Primal Rage to get rebooted, check out the other video on my channel. It's called "Let's Bring Back Primal Rage".
You can watch it here:

We need to do something with this underrated series, and together we can help get something done.
Just because you guys rock so much, here's a present. Almost 3 hours worth of extensive Primal Rage 2 footage. Have a blast!

Hi there, as I'm sure you're aware of by now, Primal Rage II news has hit in a big way as a machine has been made playable and new direct footage streamed for all to witness. My name is Chris Tang and I was the Game Designer and Game Design Coordinator on the Primal Rage team. I happened by your video around the time the news hit, and just wanted to say thanks for keeping the vigil and hope for Primal Rage II alive. The game was cancelled more or less by forces out of our control - there was a company buyout and a lot of politics involved, but the end result was that a lot of hard work and effort put into the product never got to be seen by the world until now. I'm impressed by all you were able to gather for this video. I was the one who made that the Primal Rage II moves flyer for the location test, and duct taped one of the last copies I had onto the machine on display at California Extreme some years later... and it seems everyone playing the game is using that as a reference now. (It actually had a reverse side with all the dino moves!). Since you seem to understand that we had reasons for including humans in the game, and I really appreciate that. I'll do my best to explain further because there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding in regards to that. Primal Rage 1 did well, but it mainly attracted casual players and kids. Serious fighting game players spent their time and money on games like X-Men Vs Street Fighter, Tekken, and Killer Instinct. These games generally had much higher earnings because the focus was competitive play where players would be playing each other in Vs. constantly and not going thru single player games like most of the people playing Primal Rage. The landscape of the fighting game audience back then was very different, and it was found that the players needed and preferred human characters, or at least human-like characters. The fighting game players who did play Rage 1 typically picked Blizzard or Chaos, and there was other feedback that there needed to be more variety in the roster in general. If you notice, our new beast character for Rage II, Slashfang, is also bipedal with arms and legs. We worked in a way to include human characters into the mythos and introduced the Rage Move transformations which were a lot of fun to use. One huge misconception is that the game didn't have dinos anymore and were replaced by humans - as you know, they are all in there, but for the location tests we wanted to see how players were taking to the new human characters so we had those all unlocked by default - though if you continued or held up on the joystick, the dino would appear. Had the game been finished, they would have been visible from the start. There was also a special "Meta" version of the character combo (appears as a statue above the main select screen) that could freely morph between the two modes and even had a way of morphing while attacking that was really cool. Thanks again for your efforts to keep Primal Rage in player's minds and hearts. If you're wondering what happened to me after the game got cancelled, I went to Capcom as a designer for the Japan R&D division under Yoshiki Okamoto, and worked on some games you might have heard of, including Street Fighter III, Rival Schools, and Marvel vs. Capcom :) Take care, and Rage On!!

I remember the first time I had seen Beastorizer (Bloody Roar) it was at a trade show in Japan and I was already working at Capcom on Street Fighter III, so PR2 had already been cancelled before that time... Still I remember thinking of how they had similar ideas on how to have beast personas in the game without giving up the human element that seemed to be necessary back then. I really liked the gameplay, too and sort of wish the franchise was still active.

Wow! Thanks for all the information on Primal Rage 2! I never thought that I'd get so much information from a guy who actually worked on it. Mind if I ask a few questions? *Here goes* 1. Does Atari still own the rights to Primal Rage? 2. Does the name Stephen Riesenberger ring a bell? He says was a part of the PR2 team. He commented on a different Primal Rage 2 video and was nice enough to give me some info on what went on internally during it's development. 3. Do you think if enough interest is raised that Atari or a different company that buys the rights could possibly make a reboot or a sequel for Primal Rage? I put a link to couple of petitions at the end of my video to get Primal Rage rebooted but they're getting signed pretty slowly. I would love it if this game was brought back into the modern era of games. Look what Double Helix did with Killer Instinct. If we had a team of talented and passionate individuals, I think Primal Rage could very well see the light of day again. 4. What do you think would be a good way of raising interest a lot of interest in getting Primal Rage rebooted? Thanks you so much for commenting on my video and I'm super happy that you liked it! X)

Despite what you say, I'm a little skeptical still about the playable humanoid characters. For me one of the coolest things about Primal Rage 1, was the idea of playing as a huge beast with the puny humans running around in the background. Yeah so maybe the humanoid forms are gods/giants, and it makes sense with the story and all that, but it kinda takes the shine off the original characters.

As for making concept art, brainstorming ideas, and getting the attention of Netherrealm studios/ Warner Bros. , I say have at it! It would be awesome to see Primal Rage resurrected. If you do see any awesome concept art you should send me the links so I can see them. Seriously, this gaming generation needs a dinosaur fighting game. Spread the word, bud. Fuck, bro! I almost cried with this video. When I'm just a child/teen, a near Primal Rage arcade was inside a shopping center like 25km far (aprox. 15 miles) from my house in São Paulo, Brazil. My mother likes a lot this shopping center and we gone there twice a month at saturdays: we came, go lunch and while she looks/buy things, I had half hour and five bucks to play. Primal Rage had a 42" TV (rarity in 1998, I had my first 29" TV in 2001) and Primal Rage was the star of that electronic entertainment area, I played alone just one time and lost to Chaos at last endurance fight, playing with Vertigo. I remember that I buy coins costing 75 cent (today each coin costs like 3 bucks) and after all, we back home. Thanks a lot for I remember this time of my childhood/adolescence with thid video.

Personally my issue with Primal Rage 2 was the story. I love PR, but the story just takes the beasts/gods out of the picture, makes them seem less important/weak. The only people in Primal Rage should be tiny and stomped on/eaten/tossed/etc. Giving the game humans to play as seems lame. I would of loved even just adding 2 new characters, Slashfang and Necrosan. Maybe giving some new movies and better graphics to the older ones as well. Theres so many more things there could have been gods for though, and many more beasts to be brought into the fight. I'd much rather have a petition to get a remake of Primal Rage going on. And have nothing to do with this Primal Rage 2 really. On another note, I would buy Primal Rage 1 on Xbox in a heartbeat. Even a physical copy for such a small game lol, but thats just me, I prefer cases with my games.

Personally, I'd love to see these games rebooted and expanded. There's so much potential for a grand story just based off the backstories alone. You could select your God/Avatar and play the game centered around traveling around the world, gathering followers, sending them off to accomplish tasks in your name, lead them in campaigns of conquest, and finally challenge your rivals for dominance of New Urth. Bet they'd make a nice book or even TV series too.

I'm an arcade manager myself and I've seen a lot go through my shop. I can honestly say PR2 wasn't one of them, but such is the case all over. I can tell you a lil about the first one in what made it different from some other fighting games. For one it was actually more exact to pixl for contact damage rather than the traditional 'hit boxes' that 2D fighters still use to this day. As for Primal Rage 2, the characters indeed had moment of shift for particular move sets. You'll notice the 'avatars' are also uber huge to the other followers in the background just like the first game. When they were their God's chosen Avatar, much like similar stories, they were granted favor and power, but also much of their status and even their size. So why was this canceled? A lot of reasons. First as you pointed out, the recieving of the ideals behind the game, and this is in part their own faults for not getting out key pieces of information, like that you could tap your God's power, was a key factor. After such a poor recieving of the ideals on the few test units, witch is why there are those few units out there, brought up other concerns. For one, the avatar designs were actually kinda un appealing. Not just because they weren't the beloved dinos 'most of the time standard' but because over all the design just didn't grab people. It kinda looked like a Clay Fighter without further appealing styles. It all around looked mediocre. There was also a technical issue likely. Those of you out there who know of some machines that early on relied extra heavily upon hard drives, not just for stats tracking, but for pulling a lot of regular loads per stage, quickly developed issues and would chew through hard drives really fast. Some good examples of this are some of the later Gauntlet games, and AREA 51. That's right, some of you out there know what I'm talking about with AREA 51. More often than not it was that shooting game with cinematic like backgrounds that would play again and again to get you to the next part of the shooting gallery of the stage, and those types wore HARD on the harddrives. Day in and day out of those videos played as well as data grabbing all over, well, it's worse than what you put a video player through going 24/7 at video stores back in the day. Chances are Area 51, or it's sequel Site 4, was sitting out of order in the corner if you seen one. I know I've seen a site 4 at a Six flags in that state and knew exactly why. Granted Rage 2 wasn't always doing cinematic, but it did have them, full CGI ones playing off of a hard drive, like that intro. It probably proved to wear upon them faster than they thought it would. Some of you might also recall that Killer Instinct arcade units had a tendency to start having issues as well, but there was still real demand to keep them fixed up and running, and they too started to become scarce. Sadly one of those was recently again pulled from my shop because it yet again went into the habit of rebooting on whims. Anyhow, hope some of this was read and enlightened someone out there. I actually need to start getting ready for the day to open up one of the last true arcades in the area. About 13 years I've helped keep it open and it gives me time to do a lil research while I watch over these portals to other worlds. A lot of people chant on about how they want arcades to stick around, but then they don't afford some common curt to put a little money in the machines rather than just have their kids, or man children, put wear and tear on them without a single quarter dropped. Dare to put a little money down if you still have a 'real' arcade left. Not really counting Chucky Cheeses or the likes, but the True Arcades that will still have games for even the older tastes like Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, and others they don't dare to put under the banner of the fuzzy mouse. And with that, I'm off. Drop a few quarters some time, it's how you save what's left of your arcades, and give your arcade workers a thumbs up or two, because to keep them open, we all work for pretty much dirt cheap. As such I myself don't get paid benifits, vacation time, sick time, we're also pretty much on call when on breaks and take them right in the shop. But at least it keeps them open, we know what we do, why we do it, and unlike many other forms of employ we won't become scapegoats in some corporate or government plot XD. Till next time gamers, hoped the info helped.

That info helped tremendously! Thank you good sir, for your efforts in order to keep one of the last few arcades open. I guess working at an arcade isn't exactly a glamorous/get rich quick kind of a job. From what you've said, it's probably quite the contrary. I imagine what keeps the few true arcade owners going is the satisfaction and memories of the good old days. Back when you put in a quarter and had a short concentrated burst of fun. Since consoles and PC's keep getting more powerful, more and more people have left arcades to be forgotten in the footnotes of gaming history. Heck, we wouldn't have gaming today if it weren't for arcade games. The first successful video game WAS an arcade game if I remember correctly, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. That's why I have a fascination with arcades and the games that fill them. It makes me think of a simpler time before people had online play, MMORPG's , shooters, DLC, or the unending and, in my opinion, pointless squabble between console and PC gamers. Back then, you put in a quarter and you had a blast! That's why I always love going to a place in New Hampshire called Fun World. It's not a true arcade, mind you, it's kinda like Chuck E. Cheese but with three floors of ticket exchange games and arcade games! It's mind boggling to see how many machines they have in one building! Their electricity bill must be HUGE!. I just love going there and just having a blast for three of four hours, sometimes even longer. XD I'm going to do my best to make sure that arcades don't become extinct. I'll make sure to drop a few quarters in a local arcade machine whenever I get the chance. By the way, where's the arcade you operate located? I'd love to visit someday. I salute you for working your hardest in your arcade, you do it, not to get rich, not just because you're it's your job, but because you love doing what you do and you want to keep the experience and memories of times gone by alive. If I get the chance, I'll come to your arcade, and I'll be carrying a BIG cupful of quarters.

Well, it does give a piece of it's own kind of street cred, but sure enough some come in with the thought of 'get a real job.' Granted some of these nutters have not kept a job, or even had a job at the time themselves. But as such, I don't show them to much fret. I just let em know, they're not welcome to come back. They figure they can ignore such and come back, they are promptly corrected. It may not be the worse loss in their life, but then they look rather foolish when that supposed nobody has had them escorted out in front of their friends. While there I can study and go over particular points of interest and over the years it's furthered my understanding of the machines as I also get to see classics from my childhood roll back into my life, like lesser remembered but grand to see titles like Arm Champs II by Jaleco. That stacks on top the fact I've been a heavy gamer and a study of some of it, though I'm sure as hell no coder, since I was about 4 years old, back in that golden age that was about to begin where video games were about to start their turn into becoming all the more relevant and sophisticated. 1984. If you have questions, I have a chunk of answers, and now and again can drop thoughts at random. Like more than likely, though it not an arcade title, you probably enjoyed various Road Rash titles. If so, give a search of a little game that's available early access and further taking shape. It's spiritual successor. Road Redemption. And for those of you who miss a fighting game that had some savage hits you could feel, and all the better morphing back and forth from man and beast mid fight, look to a franchise that did have some time in the arcade before it made it's debut on the PSX, then the PS2, Game Cube, XBox, then back to the PS2. A franchised that was first known as Beastorizer. But then later became know as the very recently hoped for return for the PS4, but sadly was another franchise instead. That franchise old fighters turned out loved but didn't know they had so many fellow fans. Bloody Roar. I could go on longer, but I have a habit of spilling quite a lot at once as it is.

Very educational my friend! We still have arcades here in our country and they are good outlets for students specially college students who're killing time while waiting for their classes. We also have this gimmick on consoles and PCs were they are being operated by coins; just drop a coin (amount specific) and you can play the PC/Console for like 10-15 mins then the controls will freeze once the time runs out but you can drop another coin/s to continue the leisure. I'm not sure if this system is popular to other countries as well though in here, it's quite the trend and that's what keeping the arcades from extinction. The amusement you are providing to your players must be very rewarding considering your dedication in keeping this industry alive. You have my respect :)

  • @Bangcat

    @Bangcat

MrPapazap Here in the US they're extra strict about the sort. Some places you start using consoles and pc games, and you don't have a deal with the companies who's software you're using, they come down on you looking for their cut. Also as such, arcade machines fall under the need of a vending machine license and at least in most states they go about making sure all arcade cabinets are registered. In some countries that aren't so strict about Intelectual property, like the Philippines, you'll find there's just about no issues with the likes. It's also why they tend to sell certain copyright ignoring multi game devices and cartridges that can play several upon several games off of one cartridge for things like Nintendo DS units for one. Part of the problem for arcades is indeed that people have a lot of things at home, and online gaming. But there are factors otherwise largely ignored and are similar to why other ways of life have been trampled by the governing forces that be. They continue to make more and more regulations, more and more that you have to pay out to hold licenses and rights to operate, and now we see similar kind of foul money grabbing practices to grab internet tax on sales. Despite them doing NOTHING more to protect it's users, buyers, etc. They simply get money not because they're doing hard work to protect much of anyone, it's just simply a new angle they can cash grab. Or charge more for what use to be cheaper. And even if something like arcades are less lucrative, they will never adjust the prices DOWN to be equal and fair. All because mostly authorities of their kind have the power to 'say so' and Prince John taxes the fine arcade holders of Sherwood Forrest if you know what I'm saying. The more cabinets you have, the more expensive it is to hold the arcade. Who would it hurt for them not to have them registered? Absolutely no one. They then literally pay to police and check into the last remaining arcades purely to see if they paid. Kinda like the ye old extortion racket. Only instead of breaking windows, the forces that be can shut you down. I mean it's not like these are gambling machines folks, you're not winning money. And in fact if you don't leave your machines as 'set ticket' meaning same amount of tickets no matter how good you do, and they catch THAT, they complain about how THAT is gambling and that you're not in a 'DESIGNATED RESORT AREA' to warrant said gambling. So yeah. Arcades indeed are slowed by the obvious of progress, and we get that. It's just really pushed further, and then not re adjusted for the little they make taken into mind when it comes to making these arcades pay out, that starts driving final blows. Another big ol middle finger to small business dealt by the governing forces that be, where the bigger companies and business are catered too because they paid into over inflated campaigns to get them into office to get them to change things in their favor, and indeed often to bury small competition. Sounds like a bunch of paranoid shenanigans, but you might look up how some of the last free taxi driver states were driven into the medallion system. A call by three big taxi companies who could afford said medallions for their cars, where these individuals, cannot. How much are these medallions? Oh, just ONE MILLION DOLLARS. Look it up some time, and it sucks that these powers that be never need to re adjust to make other buisnesses be able to keep their place in society and then find more ways to extend their greed. Like internet sales tax that they do NOTHING for. The system that be could be a part of bringing arcades back, but chances they won't. Hell half your school systems have done a away with recess and various music programs. Taxes go up, funding gets cut, they get bigger and bigger pay raises, private jets, etc. But back on target, kudos to you who still try and drop some money down the coins and pay some dues into the cradle of modern gaming. Just the other day I got a kid who came in with a cup full of quarters, and it reminded me of this conversation threat, right here. It was like the promise of 'sure to bring a cup of quarters' indeed transcended youtube, and brought someone into the arcade old style. Hope you all had a good black friday, maybe score some sales off of STEAM, and for the internet tax I just had to pay on purchasing a new power rig for my pc gaming, I hope the politicians who get it use it to buy a hot dog to choke on.

Bangcat I see maybe because your country has major game developers within so the government is completely aware of the industry and find it lucrative. The game companies, in this case, think that they deserve a part since they are the authors of these softwares. I'm actually from the Philippines and what you said there is true, they don't care as long as you are paying taxes, rental fees, etc. They only care about movie piracy but games are almost everywhere here. I believe small time businessmen are the ones who're suffering the most due to the permits and licenses as you have mentioned while these blue chips manipulate things in their favor. Just my theory though but that's how I see it. Yup I still do the old way of gaming as I find more convenient as contrast in the modern style of online gaming. I drop coins and play Tekken and stuff as many hours as possible then I can also leave it if I have to unlike online games where you are tied to the game until the very end otherwise you'll make people in the community upset. Another thing is that games of today are so demanding specially in network connection. True, home consoles are way more convenient and comfortable in most times though the ambiance and feel in the arcades are far more livelier. Unfortunately, I never get the chance to visit an arcade center during my visit there in the US. Nevertheless, let's just do our best to preserve this classic gaming experience in our own ways. It's a pleasure talking to you :)

Oh man, this is the best video I could have possibly found about the history of Primal Rage 2! Dude, you are freaking awesome as Primal Rage is one of the earliest games I remember playing at the local Chuck E. Cheese where I was too short and had to use a step to play it (I was 5 in '96). As for me, here's my thing; I've been working on a homebrew Primal Rage table-top rpg. It's a d10 system that blends d20 and Storyteller, and while the document is far from complete, the character creation mostly is so the bones are set. I haven't been working on it for awhile now but this documentary has inspired me to get back on the raptor. Thank you so much for your work, as I've signed both petitions. Keep being awesome and let me know if you have any questions. Rage!

Primal Rage - An awesome fighting game! I remember playing this with my dad in the arcades! Primal Rage II - Could have been something great, but from the looks of things, Atari didn't put a lot of effort into it. Looks like any typical fighting game if not completely stupid. The characters looks incredibly cheesy, no where near the awesomeness that was the first Primal Rage. I'm glad they pulled the plug on it - if this was the best Atari could come up with.

Being someone who grew up loving stop motion animation and monster movies like King Kong, and Ray Harryhausen's films, the concept of Primal Rage was awesome. I was really excited for it. But the trouble is, the REALITY of the game, is that it didn't play very well, especially when compared to it's top contemporaries (SFII, MK, KI, KoF, SS, VF, etc.), and subsequently just wasn't that fun to actually PLAY. So in all honesty, I'm not terribly upset that 2 never got released, especially considering that they were taking some of the focus AWAY from giant monsters, the whole gimmick of the game.

Thanks to you I got hooked in this game once again! I am now playing it in my android along with Jurassic Park Warpath (another favorite dino-fighter game). It must have been quite the challenge in your part in making this stuff. I also hope that this game could get a remake. Superb video! The amazing research and dedication you have put into this great informative vid is awesome. I remember playing 'Primal Rage' in the arcade about 1995-ish? My favourite character? Maybe Vertigo or Talon? They were the ones I played the most, not fond of Chaos and his fart move. Around that time, same amusement arcade place came 'Killer Instinct', and that was hard as hell at 50p a credit, so I spent quite a bit on that game. I do hope 'PR2' can somehow find it's path to modern consoles as 'KI' has done by being on the SNES, N64 and now the Xbox One.

primal rage should be a cult classic and remade for today's audience as a mix of 90's, 00's, and 10's stuff with lots of brutalities and fatalities. it deserves an ongoing comic series for kids of all ages, a dark but kid-friendly cartoon show, maybe an anime adaptation, and a movie franchise.

Years ago, back when they were still planning on releasing PR2, I was at the San Diego Comic Con, and I saw a booth that was selling action figures of Primal Rage characters. On display he had all of the characters including Slash Fang and Necrosan. • @111EJG

    @111EJG

Yeah well, here's the problem with that. Some of the people who worked on Primal Rage no longer work in the gaming industry. So I think getting the original team back together is probably not going to happen. However I think that someone new should step up to the plate. I mean look at what the guys at Double Helix did with Killer Instinct? They took a beloved franchise and they resurrected it with flying colors. The thing is, they loved playing Killer Instinct when they were younger and making a actual game was one of their wildest dreams. If someone is going to make a new Primal Rage, it should be a group of people who are just as passionate about making it as the guys at Double Helix were. We also need talent which, again, the folks at Double Helix had plenty of.The reason I made this video is so that it'll get the attention of two kinds of people: 1. A hacker who can get the original Primal Rage 2 emulated properly, or 2. A game developer or a group of people with the means and the drive to make a new Primal Rage. With the rapid growth of views my video is getting that just might happen. You can play a part in this too, if you'd like. You can sign those petitions at the end of the video. Or you can share this video with a bunch of people. The more people who know, the better the odds will be that Primal Rage gets resurrected.

  • @creativedoof

111EJG You're probably getting the attention with the petition and with the video. If possible try talking with the people at Double Helix and see if they can get a team together for PR2. A hacker might have difficulties obtaining the files for PR2 since most of those data files and the machines used to make the graphics are probably obsolete and hard to find now. You might have better luck contacting Double Helix since they were able to to create a K.I. game without having to resort to using the same game engine that Rare did.

There are so many things going on in Primal Rage 2 in terms of fighting game influences and styles. It's clearly a Western style 2D fighter in the vein of Mortal Kombat, but it's also a weapons based fighter similar to Soul Calibur. The ability to transform into the monsters would be more realized in the later Bloody Roar series, but the dinosaur theme gives it a unique edge, such as being to eat followers. That's all actually a really exciting blend!

I'm glad that there's someone besides me who sees how much potential this game could have had! Before I made this video, people would mindlessly bash this game. "Oh, this game sucks since you can only play as people!" "Screw this game! Where are the dinosaurs and giant monkeys?!" I wanted to yell at them, If you did enough research you'd find out that they're still in the game! I made this video so I could educate people of it's potential and so people would stop flinging all that hate. If you'd like to make a big difference, you could sign those petitions in my video in order to get Primal Rage rebooted. Every signature counts. We need another dinosaur fighting game.

One of the things I really did realized that Primal Rage 2 is very much like Bloody Roar game series. What they do share some things in common. Is that they're both fighting games where they can change into mutant animals and fight each other. However unlike Bloody Roar, I personally do feel that Primal Rage 2 shouldn't have human fighters in it. Because it betrayed the first game's concept, where it's all about giant monsters fighting each other. Kind of like Rampage games. Primal rage games are not masterpieces when it comes to Street Fighters, Mortal Kombats, Fatal Furys, Darkstalkers, killer instincts, etc. Primal Rages feel more like junk food games, it looks great, it plays great, but it's very hollow on inside and feels lame. Bloody Roar were meant for the home systems, but Primal Rage were meant for the arcade systems and it does stand out better among many. It's good thing Primal Rage 2 didn't came out, because it would have feel odd and no longer gimmicky as it used to be anymore. Remake/reboot of the first Primal Rage (not the second with the human fighters thing, we don't need any more of that) would be wonderful as long it's faithful to the colorful art direction of the old 90's colorful game.

Well, I think for right now we should think this through. We don't want to rush into this situation headfirst without planning. Even if you did get the money you'd still have to wait a while for him to get his finances straightened out before he can sell it. So for right now let's go back to the waiting game while we think of a plan. By the way you might want to reword that update on Urth Rage. It kind of gives the impression that we'll both get a Primal Rage 2 PCB and that it's going to happen in the incredibly near future, which it's not. But leave the part where people leave you suggestions on how to raise money to get PR2. That'll be very useful in the future. Give me some time to think things out and I'll get back to you.

111EJG I actually agree with you I was kinda jumping the gun their. Anyways I reworded it and I think it sounds a lot better and left the suggestions part intact. Anyways I'm pretty sure we can come up with something or someone comes up with an idea. I'm just really excited since we both have the same intentions with this board and we can actually hope to see it get into MAME correctly or just solve the mysteries behind it. Well then lets play the waiting game and hope more of this unveils in the future.

The game feels like it use the same engine that Killer Instinct use and plays just as smooth. I also got a chance to test the working rom now on the custom MAME4RAGE2 emulator and it's fairly enjoyable though still a bit buggy in the sound department but hopefully over time the game will be polish enough to be considered a finish game.

If anyone knows who currently owns the rights to this series, please let me know. I know the developer who is currently working on the reboot for this franchise, but the rights or this game have been passed around a bunch within the last few months, and he needs to be sure that he still can produce this reboot. It will include all the content from the first and second games, as well as original content. Thank you for your help.

I grew up playing the SNES port and as I got older I didn't know there were fatalities until I saw videos on KZread. I always played as Diablo, Sauron, Talon, and Blizzard in the game.

Call me crazy...but back in Puerto Rico by year 1997 Primal Rage 2 was on a arcade down my school. Sadly not for too long since the place closed just a year after opening. I clearly remember seen this arcade because I saw the avatars and thought it was crap so I never got to play it. But the arcade cabinet was there and I saw the intro.

I have a novel published in the 90's that was based on the story on PR2. It was Primal Rage: The Avatars.

Yes! I've wanted to read it for so long but can never find it anywhere :( this was always my favorite fighting game, I even had all the toys! Who wouldn't want to play a game that's Mortal Kombat with giant monsters?

There was a novelization of this game as well, believe it or not. It was called Primal Rage: The Avatars and it's now a pretty rare and valuable book.

Very good video. I enjoyed it :) I however I think you may have gotten one fact wrong and thats Saurons side, across the PR fanbase when I searched around a couple of years back, I found out that him being a virtuous beast was an error on playmates, the ones who made the toys of the characters naming Sauron as a virtuous beast, he is neutral however, he is not virtuous since he is fighting to eat the humans to reamin immortal, but he is not destructive either because he has no choice, in order for him to survive he has to eat the humans, so he is considered neutral by the fan base, but it could be wrong. Other than that I found it very enjoyable and hope some people will take up the hacking challenge, which I should know is not an easy task. Another thing that could be put into the video would have been the moves for all the avatars from that blurry image that I deciphered (with some help with waffle) and put on urthrage, which could show that the moves where not executed the same way like in the first game. Like I said great video and heres to RAGE! :D Let us all hope for the best in PR 2 in which it will be playable and then with it the first video of Necrosan gameplay! (If i never told you the first playable Primal Rage 2 video I will post is of me playing as Necrosan! But we have to wait for D: )

I realized that mistake with Sauron's affiliation halfway through making this video, but I thought that detail was so insiginificant that nobody would really care. And as for putting in the characters moves, to me that didn't make a lot of sense. It's like giving the instruction manual for a fighting game and not including the game itself to try it out on. When they get Primal Rage 2 emulated I think I might make a video showing how to do special moves. Until then, I'll settle for my video educating people about PR2. Thanks for the feedback. Why don't you try and get the word out about my video so we can show people this awesome game. Hopefully we get the attention of some veteran hackers, or maybe even a game developer. Imagine a new Primal Rage in glorious HD! That would be awesome! I still want to play the original too, though. All we can do now is spread the word and get as many people in the know as possible. Let's do our best.
