I love how Pride's shadow powers are an amalgamation of all the other Homunculi's abilities. His shadow can pierce or cut through almost anything (Lust), is invulnerable to conventional physical harm (Greed), can assume many forms or even possess the bodies of others (Envy), has great strength over physical objects (Sloth), can consume or devour anything, apparently integrating them into Pride himself (Gluttony), and can see things far beyond the range of his main body's human eyes (Wrath).

A line of dialogue caught my attention recently: "Countless souls have battled for dominance within me, and only the most wrathful ones survived. I can't tell you if this one remaining soul was one that was one of those within the philosopher's stone, or if it's the one I carried with me from birth" To me it sounds as though he destroyed the other souls inside him, rather than subduing them and harnessing their energy. If so, it might explain why he can't regenerate.

Or it’s because he’s a human-based Chimera. Greedling was also human-based and from what I can remember he can’t regenerate either. The other homunculi seem to be wholly original creations and that may be why they can regenerate

My girlfriend and I watched this together, and because I had read the manga I told her pride was king bradley in the original, but not this one. She kept guessing who pride was, and at some point she kept yelling SCAR IS PRIDE, SCAR IS PRIDE.She was surprised to see who it really was. I really like that Selim was pride. Great "plot twist"

Ulrik Wewer actually they did read it right and they were correcting you, as you said "pride was king Bradly in the original" but the original was the manga. The first anime version, was not the original, Hiromu Arakawa allowed the animators to make their own version of the story since the animation was caught up to the manga. So in summation, she let them make a version while she worked on the original.

I like the fact that Pride was Selim in this series. The fact that he poses as a child really makes him all the more creepy!

my biggest complaint is that the nature of Pride's role in the series means he didn't get as much use as he could have.

@@ChrisThePlayer777 I don't think Mustang would have any chance against him. He gets stronger the more light he gets, so Mustang would only make him extremely strong. A fight against Pride and Wrath would be cool, even though theye are both on the same side.

I love how the entire conflict lasts like 15 episodes.

The homunculus in this series weren't weaker but you have to remember that they couldn't kill human sacrifices. It was said multiple times that they could pretty much kill Ed, Al and the such anytime they wanted if they fought to kill them. Mustang is the only person besides Hohenheim who could fight a Homunculus straight up and win.

Except Gluttony. The only reason they trumped them here is : 1) They know they're valuable to them so they could gamble themselves for others. 2) They have an idea as to how they operate thanks for months of intelligence gathering. 3) Hohenheim himself intervened in this fight.

In Ling's case, he knew what he was in for before he was injected with the stone and knew what he had to do, and accepted it. He didn't fight it, but being exposed to a stone in general is life-threatening so he had to fight that to get used to its power. Wrath did not know any of that and was taken by surprise. He fought every soul thinking they tried to kill him with that shot at first, and by the time his body was sued to the stone that one soul left gave him his Homunculus abilities.

It's actually alchemic Taoism what you saw right there, or better to say: Link was a representation of a Chinese emperor-to-be and such everything in their "alchemy" was pretty much I Ching stuff and other Confucian allegories so it's implied his knowledge of internal alchemy could "refine" poison within the body.

Pride is the best homunculos. I wish he ate Hoenheim when he was weak then the rest of the guys had to fight Pride with Father's powers along with all the other homunculous powers... Shapeshifting, super speed, ultimate shield, ultimate eye. That would have been awesome.

He somewhat had similar abilities of the other homunculi. He fights like (Lust), indestructible container (Greed), shadows take on multiple shapes (Envy), sends shadows one after another pretty fast (Sloth), eats people (Gluttony), and has multiple eyes to see from multiple angles (Wrath).

The only reason fullmetal is able to counter pride is because he has his arms reinforced with a metal that emulates Greed. Same for Greed. Nothing else has been shown to effectively block it. Bradley's swords break all over the place. Furthermore, he's never been shown with flash bombs or any way to darken Pride's shadows. Pride is regenerative. Pride has durability enough to straight up take constant Chimera blows for a long duration. Bradley is fast, but Fu is too, and in the fight against

There's no one better than Pride... period.

I love the japanese audio, i don't like the English or spanish one (i'm from Guatemala) so i watched it in japanese, i love it

But Pride is still slightly more powerful if you think about it. Wrath, as strong as he is, can still be harmed. Pride was impervious to injury even when rendered helpless and unable to use his shadows. It wasnt until after Pride forced Mustang's gate open, which weakened him, that he was able to sustain injury. So if Wrath and Pride fight each other at their strongest, Pride would win because Wrath wouldnt be able to cut him.

of course. :) PS: I believe bradley's soul is the one remaining, since he sstill has memories from before his stone's injection. in the FMA universe, the mind links the soul with the body, transferring memories to the soul. If one of the souls in the philosopher's stone was the one that remained after the destruction/regeneration cycle after the injection, King Bradley would not remember his upbringing. In other words, Bradley beat an army of souls for control of his own body :D

It's near impossible for Pride to lose a battle or even get in a stalemate and yet he manages thanks to the author dumbing him down with that shitty way of fighting. A lot of authors do this, they come up with an overpowered character and don't know how to make them be defeated without going thru some horrible writing

I love pride ; 3 ; He's so adorably evil! Best evil shota character ever!!! I also love how he's the only surviving homunculus at the end.

Guys, Pride could beat Wrath in a fight. We jave to remember that Pride's shadows have the same abilities of all the Homunculi. The reason why we haven't seen be as awesome in combat ad Wrath is because he's either holding back, or he's been weakened before the fight. Wrath would give him a lot of trouble, but in the end, Pride would win.

Pride doesn't have the abilities of the other Homunculi. He only has the abilities of those he consumes(Gluttony and Kimblee). He doesn't have the Ultimate Spear, Shield, or Eye. He isn't a shapechanger or super fast, either.

Suichimo no he does have an ultimate shield, spear, eye, he also had the ability to eat anything before he ate gluttony and sloth's speed. Arakawa did this on purpose.

Suichimo His shadows allow him to mirror the abilities of most (but not all) other homunculi. They are impenetrable (just as Greed's skin), they can pierce through things like Lusts fingers, they can devour stuff like Gluttony ... and so on. He is also the first homunculus Father created, although he has the youngest appearance. While Wrath is truly a fearsome opponent, he wouldn't stand a chance against Pride.

Kevin Echeverria his shadows are durable as lust's ultimate spear and greed's ultimate shield. But no, he does not have the ultimate eye. Only king Bradley, wrath possesses the ultimate eye, which allows him to see the outcome , or maybe slightly into the future

Pride could have easily killed everyone, but the main characters had to survive.

Pride can't be gripped. He only uses that body as a container for his shadows. Even if Shikamaru managed to snag him (though Pride's entire mass for the most part is shadow) the shadows could still move.

I think Pride is just one of those anime villains that like to drag their fights out as long as they can just so he can watch them scamper around helpless and play with them while Wrath is one of those guys that just tries to get the job done right away, no bullshit. I still think it would be a stalemate between the two of them.

This scene is from FMA: Brotherhood, the 2nd series. In Brotherhood, Selim was Pride and Bradley was Wrath. In the first series, Selim was a normal human, Bradley was Pride, and Wrath was Izumi's child.

Pride he was ineffective. He was shown to match Bradley's speed, too. The only way you're taking down Pride is if you have the ability to block his access to light. Bradley has not shown that he has a way to do that.

he ate gluttony technically, all of the homunculi are siblings, and the "Dwarf in the flask" (Father/evil Hoemhiem/Homunculus) is there father.

I agree 100% I will say though I would love to have them do something with Wrath in his prime. Cause they have never shown anyone being able to even compete against Wrath in a 1v1. And not to mention he was pretty much already dead and almost killed Scar when Scar was going all out. I think Wrath in his prime would bad ass

@@astra2411 ohh, yeah. fathers true from, that makes sense, try to imitate himself the looks of god. He kind of look like a ball of shadow and is named "Homunculus", I had to search that up to understand. So Pride is the first homunculus that "Father" created. That kind of messed me up at first, cuz i mixed the first FMA 2003 with this one, where i thought envy was the first.

Wrath's sword DID break over Greeds shield in their second fight. Greed wasn't able to use his full armor because Wrath kept rushing him, but if Greed had used his full body armor, Wrath wouldnt have been able to cut him either.

Ok, I assume that he's still young. I think u know that his strengths are his ultimate eye and skill, nothing more. So the only way of defeating Pride is to get near and cut Pride. Of course, Pride can not be killed immediately and the nearer he gets to Pride, the easier he gets caught, no matter how fast he is. And that's the end for him. Anyway, u cant deny the fact that Pride is the strongest homunculus under Father even when Wrath is young

Wrath was to much of a total nightmare for anyone. In every fight there really is no one who actually stood a legit chance against Wrath. Even when he was pretty much dead he almost killed Scar.

Hide your faves, the king has arrived

It's the same Greed. Father melted down Greed to his philosopher's stone essence and drank him, reabsorbing him into his being. He then injected that essence into Ling, just as he had done with Bradley and the essence of wrath. The difference is, Ling didn't fight the collection of souls personified as Greed like Bradley did the essence of Wrath, so they both got to continue existing and keep regeneration powers (the Wrath stone's souls were used up in the struggle over Bradley's body)

That is true but Shikamaru would also know almost every weakness to Pride's shadow manipulation since Shikamaru has similar techiniques. All in all I can't see Shikamaru winning in a straight up fight but if you were to give him time to plan and meet pride on his terms he might just pull through, but it'll be an entertaining fight reagrdless in my opinion.

Remember his body is that of a child, so that's the physical power he has. His shadows can't pierce Greed's Ultimate shield. I think he just hit Heinkle so he could get him off him so he could get up, then kill him afterwards but that was deflected by Edward. Also he's fighting what, 3 people at once? that must be pretty hard to even hit someone much less kill them.
