I get so hungry every time I hear this story.

Much as I love Hitchcock's masterful version, this one is my preference. Price's voice lends such a paradoxically cozy warmth to this ghoulish little story.

I had a bunch of these - including this episode - on cassette when I was a kid. So awesome to hear them again!

As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point ! The TV adaption from the classic late 50s anthology series "Alfred Hitchock Presents" was VERY well done...mostly thanks to two of the actors: Robert Morley and Madame Spivey as "Spiro" !

I like this brief story far better than the soylent green movie, this is an example of the old phrase: "brevity is the soul of wit"! Implying it, and never telling you outright. THAT my friends, is a better way to weave a story, than outright telling you what is actually happening.

I haven't yet tried a creepypasta story on KZread (I'm more old school, like classic old time radio). All I know is: the word creepypasta evolved from the copy&paste phrase, supposedly. Pasta, that makes no sense.

That's pretty clever! However, in the original Stanley Ellin short story, it was lamb Amirstan. Maybe Ellin started with the anagram, then added the "r" to disguise it a bit?

Red Robertify, I've actually heard that the flesh of a pig is a very similar consistency to human flesh, but as for the taste, the only knowledge I have of that is from Hannibal movies.

Call me crazy, but I dont think that's actually Vincent Price. Unless I missed a clue somewhere on this upload stating so, this sounds more like another actor giving one of the most convincing and subtle Vincent impersonations I've ever heard. But theres something about it that makes the accent sound like someone carefully imitating Vincent's sound rather than actually him.

@@audreyricci6383 I can tell it is now. I think my doubt at the time of this comment was simply due to how crisp and modern the sound quality is. It doesn't sound like a dated recording, so it's uncanny to hear Vicent like he's alive with us today.

These are such old, pretentious ideas about "gourmandes." Vincent Price even said, "Good food is where you find it." To say nothing of the assumption that human need to consume is a right to do so.
