Lab grown!! My engagement ring is a NEO moissanite and I love it fraction of the cost and sparkles just as beautifully as any diamond I’ve ever seen. 😁

Fabulous explanation! One of the questions in guiding my son when purchasing a center stone for his engagement recently was, “if I found an ideal cut stone, would he trade it in to upgrade to a bigger stone or resell it?”. His answer was that if the stone was beautiful, they’d hang on to it and pass it down to a child or grandchild. Ultimately, we found a lab created diamond that hit all the marks in terms of cut, color, clarity and carat and his fiancé is extremely happy with it. It is just as beautiful as a natural diamond of comparable cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

Technically, the seed of the HPHT diamond is a natural diamond. So a lab grown diamond is "natural", its just enhanced in the compression chamber 😜

Buy lab grown people, avoid slave labour Diamonds, child labour Diamonds, blood Diamonds, and the de Beers monopoly. Carbon is Carbon, Diamond is Diamond. Lab grown diamonds are better in quality and lower in price...that's the difference..

Yes. But also moissanite is a great option too. More Affordable, more fire so I could argue it's more beautiful, also lab created so it avoids all the same things.

I’m a Canadian living in Taiwan. In Canada, people usually wear their engagement rings everyday, but in Taiwan, I rarely see people wearing them. When I ask the Taiwanese, they say they wore their engagement rings when they got married, but after they lock them away. I used to wear my e ring everyday in Taiwan until a woman said to me that she has a ring too, but she doesn’t wear it because she doesn’t want to show off.

I am in the process of shopping for a right hand diamond ring. What I want is a centerstone flanked by two other stones. The idea of using natural diamond at my age - I’m in the same generation as Minda - is ridiculous to me. I love the idea of using a diamond alternative that’s pretty, sparkly, and a larger size than what I could afford if I were purchasing a natural diamond. Investment isn’t a thing for me, and I want sparkly 🤩. I love that the jewelry channels are finally, as opposed to, say, five years ago, understanding that not everybody wants a diamond or are willing to pay inflated prices for one. I will have to admit that part of my decision to go with an alternative is also blood/conflict/environment related as well.

I have a natural Diamond that is .77 in a 14 k gold heavy band. I don’t wear it because it is too small in ring size and my husband is dead . I’m saving it to be sold and $ given to my Greatgrandson when I pass on. The Diamond was $1200. Originally I hope that with the value of the gold in the heavy band it will be worth something to him. Possibly passed on to his fiancée someday. The setting is modern so the design will stay in fashion.

  • @uriel6647

Great breakdown and information. I appreciate it. The ONE thing I didn't hear is the durability of the three and their long term clarity. For instance a NATURAL supposedly does not fade or become yellow with age. Yet a lab grown or the older versions especially will fade, discolor, and become evident as a NON-NATURAL. That is something additional that people might need to know to determine long term value as an heirloom or for resale. In addition a NATURAL does not become fragile and lose its hardness (I don't think except in the case of inclusions) while lab or earlier editions will turn into dust so to speak. If I am wrong, please let me know. I am trying to value one against the other in this area as well.

Question for you. I have been doing some investigation and I have found some moissanite rings and very large stones that are incredibly inexpensive. Is there such thing as "fake" moissanite? Why are some stones thousands of dollars and others only hundreds of dollars for the same CCC? Another question, do you have a franchise in Canada or ship to Canada?

@@franceslegg7086 - I will bet, it’s just my opinion and may or may not be accurate, that it’s due to some manufacturers really focusing on making the moissanite as “diamond like” as possible. That means cutting it so that the moissanite’s natural fire and brilliance is somewhat muted to be more like a natural diamond. I happen to like the fire, brilliance and sparkle of a moissanite. So I understand your pain.

16:30 this example is why people who argue that natural diamond is an investment or has resale value worth considering in your jewelry decision haven't thought it through. moissanite is such a small fraction of diamond price that moissanite "resale" is utterly irrelevant to the conversation. people will lose far more from the depreciation of their diamond ring than the cost of that moissanite ring.

Look at the reality & be down to earth. Take gold- 40 years ago to now it had appreciated 900 times. ie- if u had bought the gold at 1$ 40 years ago , which is 900$ worth to day.. I purchased the same Good quality diamond 40 years ago -& when I wanted to sell it today - - the jeweler is not even offering 5 times. where is today he is charging 12000$ for 1 carat- for the same quality - new diamond. So rationally what a wise man should do ? buy a gold ring, fix a Lab-grown or Messonite stone. This will make perfect jewelry. Anyway, if u need money it is the gold that will come to your rescue. Hence I feel you should tell your viewers - what is the cost of the same quality, same weight, same clarity stones price of all the 3., Leave the rest to the viewers. Today Debeers -themselves sell 1 carat of lab-grown diamond for 800$. This means the prices are going to come down in the future & for the lesser-known companies -lab-grown diamonds the price could be still less. The other important point - you can get exotic colors, choices in Lab-grown. The most important & serious point most of the people miss or do not know is - the natural diamonds, have very small defects, like very minute black spots - In India, they are called -Dhosham - in Sanskrit - meaning defect. In India, many people will simply buy the diamond, as a stone, keep it in their house for a few months. If they do not encounter any problem, then only they will convert that stone into jewelry, other wise they will return as such. We all have read history - the many kings - had diamonds - which made them beggars-, lost their kingdoms. Besides, the body cannot wear every diamond. Whereas Gold can be worn by anybody, it is free from this point, also the lab-grown diamonds, Mossinites

A lot of these videos use language that make the purchase sound like an investment. Even if the value of natural diamonds goes up over time, you lost most of its value the day you bought it. Both now and in the long run, a diamond ring is a depreciating asset for most people.

That shouldn't be the case since lab diamonds are the same as natural diamonds in terms of chemical composition. It's a diamond other than the fact that it can't be titled "natural." Many times, the "cloudiness" is due to dirtiness over time. A simple clean with a jeweler should do the job.

The price of rough moissanite will drop as it did for CZ (cubic zirconia) which will then flood the market with cheap moissanite faceted gemstones from third-world countries. If you purchase faceted stones only for their beauty and not for people to think you have spent a lot of money there will be no problem. To think that moissanite is rare and expensive is moronic.

Yes. The blood spilled by mining diamonds, and the fuel burned to overturn the soil, is what makes it a real diamond. Even if you find one yourself in nature, it’s not the same. Physically, the lab grown stuff is equivalent to mined. Mining doesn’t give it any value.
