Prevost bus with some safety concerns. Beautiful bus conversion getting a major inspection
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The wheels on this bus need some attention. Bad wheel studs, short wheel studs, bad wheel bearings, bad shocks, oiled brake shoes from leaking wheel seals, brakes out of adjustment, bad turbo.

I would rather have you do a bus inspection than most repair shops because you're a no nonsense kind of guy. Kudos Scott.

Scott you so eloquently explain the intersection of romance and reality of these older busses.
Scott, you certainly have a loyal young technician working for you. Clearly he's learning every single day under your leadership. Please arrange a shop uniform program for him so he doesn't destroy his personal clothing while on the job. He must go through alot of jeans and other items , at his cost, just performing his job responsibilities.

Liked seeing the inside of one of these buses. Really shows how much space they have inside.
Nothing is ever as it seems, good job sorting out serious safety concerns
Very nice conversion, totally deserving of the maintenance dollars. They will love the way it feels on the road with all those problems fixed.
Know what I love about your channel, Scott? Pretty much everything. Be safe and take care.
That Milwaukee 1” seems to be holding up well. Great work and video as always m. Thank You

My parents had two '96 XL Mirages' passenger buses. Loved driving them, hated working on them! But I did probably 90% of the repairs on them and so I quickly learned how delicate these things really are in some respects and robust in others.
Scott, once again finding issues before they fail! Great video!
Always glad to see you guys usually get Timken Bearings a great US company and US made bearings
Hey we got to see Scott in the mirror. Great video.
You are hands down a top notch and straight up mechanic. Excellent service.

This bus looks very nice from the outside and inside. Every time I see red rtv silicone poking out it screams like hack mechanic been tinkering with it.
I’m so glad my Monaco dynasty has been maintained.
Bet owner is glad bus getting needed attention. Front end must be good.
Hello BGM from Colorado springs ♨️
You can count on your money being well spent with the BGM. If I had a bus Scott and his crew would be the 1's go to.😎

To Scott and Johnathan 👍👍
Excellent work as always.
keep the clips coming
in theory with steel threads, "one times the diameter" is sufficient thread depth for full strength. that said, that's a big no-no on lugnuts, the main reson is if they start to back off, you hopefully have time to notice it before they shear off and have a wheel that exits stage left. especially with aluminum rims that love to change torque values and spit wheels off.
Well those shocks are a wee bit past their best by date. Last ones I replaced that bad had 140k on 'em and were 35 years old.
Those wheel studs! Dangerous
Seems like every other bus coming into BGM has kingpin problems and bushing problems. If half of the buses coming into BGM have these problems, the odds are higher that most buses on the road have front end and safety problems. Between BGM and Just Rolled In, I can see a revival of mandatory safety testing for all vehicles coming soon.
Somebody forgot the three threads in safety 😮 I use to have a turbo on a car I had and it wobbled like that until one day when it fell out
I have read and several manufacturers owner's manual and it says to use a light oil on the lug studs

Waxes and heavy grease are the no no’s. Undercoating wax overspray, for example. I have never read a factory repair manual that specified the stripping of all oil from a wheel stud. The merest of coats, no drips
@tubester4567
12 күн бұрын
Light oil will be dry within a couple of weeks with the heat from brakes and wet roads. Even grease will disappear. Anti-seize is the only thing that lasts but if the manufacturer says no I wouldnt use it either.
Good job
So in instances like this where the owners are there, do they just sleep and eat inside the bus, inside the garage, overnight?

The brakes were an issue. 25-40% reduced would be a good guess range. Just a guess but a very significant reduction in braking ability. Even 10% could have serious consequences
How did those wheel bearings nit fail
You wanna stay either way back, or way in front of old busses converted to RV's. 10th's of 1,000's of Dollars deferred maintenance
If a seller is unwilling to have Scott do the inspection then stay away from it
Please forgive my ignorance, but aren't the buses of all forms and sizes going through annual or periodical inspection in the U.S in order to either continue circulating till the next inspection or being rejected and reschedule with advisories?

5-7k a week is a good labor estimate. Parts are usually about the same amount per week it seems. It’s rare for a bus to get in and out in just a day or two. Waiting on parts is always an unknown variable.

old prevost still look relatively up to date in terms of style vs old transit bus conversions
