Previously Unseen Sting Interview on Helping the Indigenous People of the Amazon (1989)
Музыка
On 25 April 1989, international megastar Sting was interviewed by ITN's Penny Marshall on the musician and activist's involvement in a campaign to save the Amazon rainforest. Seated beside Raoni Metuktire, the chief of the Amazon's Indigenous Kayapo people, the former frontman of The Police discussed his efforts to raise awareness of Chief Raoni's cause. He watched on as Chief Raoni himself explained the Kayapo's campaign to get their land's borders recognised, thereby protecting it from encroaching gold prospectors and logging companies. Sting spoke of how meeting Chief Raoni had changed his life, and believed that the Kayapo's fight against deforestation was one in which he - and future generations - had a direct interest.
