Totally agree. Silly to think that either team will get swept or that it will be a cakewalk, go panthers!!

As a panthers fan, I'm nervous when people keep saying that we're heavy favourites - i mean, that's what everyone was saying about Boston last year... I'm quietly confident but Boston is a good team and anything can happen in the playoffs. That said, go cats!!

Same. I trust this team to get it done--they've shown throughout the entire regular season that they are wearing the targets on their backs with pride--but it bothers me how heavy of a favorite we are considered to be in this second round series. It feels like people have Tampa more of a chance against us than they're giving Boston now, and I honestly don't believe that. This series will demand we stay on our A game.

Charlie Coyle was also invisible. For the Bruins to beat the Panthers, it can’t just be Marchand, Pastrnak, and an occasional Frederic or Geekie goal. Both the centers Coyle and Zacha need to step up big time.

This B’s fan wasn’t! Both Zacha and Coyle are just good 2C’s, and will never be that true 1C. All the bashing of Pasta…we know what he’s capable of next to Bergeron or even an older Krejci. I’m not worried about Pasta…I’m worried about both Coyle and Zacha being invisible yet again.

To be fair Bostons PK has less to do with how good their kill is and more to do with how abysmal torontos power play is

Well, when Boston has a record-breaking regular season and Florida barely squeaking into the playoffs of course nobody would give FL a chance. This season has a much different storyline heading into the playoffs. I wouldn't say nobody is giving Boston a chance. But, Boston created the narrative by going up 3-1 and then needing a game 7 OT to get past Toronto.

My Bruins take is this: given FLA time off, I can see Boston winning tomorrow just because they are in the flow of play. I feel the series could go 7 and I do feel Florida's depth wins out. Love my B's, and yes we were 4-0 in the regular year against FLA. This won't be a Florida runaway win, should be fun watching. For the Bruins, losing so many players from last year's team, this was always a bridge year (despite management's voices). I've always felt that next year, with the cap opening up and the young centers for Boston having a year under their belt, they will be a more legit contender for the CUP. Truth be told, just happy to still have some Bruins hockey to watch, win or lose. Thank you THG!

Bruins are bruised from a 7 game series while FLA have had time to recover. This Florida team is a lot better than last year and Bruins is worse than last year plus FLA have home advantage, not you. Realistically, This is gonna be a 6 game series at most and it's a FLA series win. Like you say, this year is not the year for the Bruins.

@Miner-zn4lt on paper Florida in 4 or 5. But.... B's won all 4 with a playoff atmosphere this season. And with 4 games in 6 days this week,it wouldn't surprise me to see Montgomery start Ullmark in game 2 to give Swayman a rest. I'm sure Linus wants to show everyone he was better than last year. Someone made a good point. Boston went up 3-1 with the same group last year and ironically fell apart when Bergy came back from injuries in games 5-7. So I can dream . But I realistically see this being tied 2-2, but Florida just rolling out 4 lines and wearing Boston down.

I only break it out for deep playoff runs. Quick correction, the first win was in the shootout, not overtime, not that it makes a difference to your point. I was more worried about Tampa than any other team the rest of the way minus the West winner

3-5 in the first round and I'm taking the Bruins in 6. They're coming in more motivated and I think they catch them off guard, plus I think they're due for a deep run especially with the winning the Presidents Trophy the previous year boost.

Since the 2015/2016 NHL season the teams that win game 7 in OT are 7-0 in the next series. FLA - BOS (W vs TOR) NYR - PIT (W vs CAR) DAL - COL (W vs VGK) CAR - WSH (W vs NYI) SJS - VGK (W vs COL) STL - DAL (W vs SJS) PIT - OTT (W vs NSH) do not count them out yet

And Florida got much better and deeper - they got better defensively, their special teams has improved dramatically (especially the PK), they added a sniper in Tarasenko, and Bobrovsky is playing lights out this year.

It's going to be a battle of hits and net tending. Whoever survives the most bruises each game, will advance. The Bruins starting in Florida is going to be rough. If they come back with 1 win out of the 2, that might be enough to keep them going at home. I have little doubt, this is going to game 7. It's anyone's game.... the B's do not go down without a fight til the end.

I don't see the Bruins I root for winning this one. If the Leafs can shut down Boston's offense, I don't think Florida will have any issues. The Panthers also had a much easier 1st round. I expect it to be 2-0 favor Florida when Boston comes home. THG pointed out 2 very key items - 1) Florida has had Boston's number in the playoffs, and 2) Boston's face-off percentages are HORRENDOUS and led to so many issues (no Krejci or Bergeron has hurt a lot).

I appreciate your opinion, but, how do you think the AB’s would have faired against Tampa? There is a reason they threw the last 2 games to avoid Tampa

@@mrflyazz9605 I didn't mean easier in terms of the quality of the opponent. Series was 4-1. A lot less wear and tear on the bodies. Boston has 2 days, including travel down the coast after an emotional, hard-fought win at home. The B's won't be back home for at least another 5-7 days and after 2 away games against another physical team, that's rested, and arguably better than Toronto. This is Florida's series to lose.

We can agree on your statement. B’s are just going to get pounded, so will the Cats, but, not as heavy as what Tampa did. Plus you have the Cats throwing 40-50 pucks a game at the net with players in the face of the goalie.

Bruins are thirsty for blood

Panthers fan here and the fact that the so called pundits almost unanimously pick Fla in a fairly short series has me pretty worried. Boston is a battle tested team and Swayman is really playing great in net. I will say Panthers in 7. Maybe Boston steals game 1 if Fla is rusty, but over the course of a long series, Fla's depth and tenacity will be the difference. Last year and reg season this year mean nothing. Whoever wins the series, I think one thing is certain - goals will be hard to come by in this series for both clubs.

I think Florida can win this series pretty easily... if they can just stay out of the box.

first person to say the obvious everyone is avoiding. 5v5, Florida will wreck Boston in no time flat. Given the mistakes of aggression, which they are prone to, it evens the series out if Boston's PP gets going. Fla.s PK, was 6th or 5th in the league at seasons end, so they are elite, and they just got thru the best PP team in the league going ok, by most standards, but the deeper you go.... Gonna be a tough matchup tonight. See how it goes in Gm1. That will set the table for the rest of the games. If Boston wins, its a series, if Fla wins and wins comfortably, it might be as short as the prognosticators say.

Great defensive teams tend to beat great offensive teams, but I don't know if Boston necessarily has the juice to outscore the Panthers. Florida in 6.

Florida in 6. Boston could take it if they find their game and Swayman stays hot, but I highly doubt that both will happen. My guess is Ullmark in game 1.

FL fan and i don't want to say oh yeah FL is going to win. Those comments don't age well. Boston was playing some tight tight hockey against Toronto. They still almost blew it. FL was not playing tight against Tampa but playing strong, hard, and fast. Different teams, different players, different styles. Tampa has much better forwards in skill level over Boston. Boston struggled against a team that lets 4 goals in a game and has no true number 1 goalie. I also feel FL was screwing around with the season. That last game of the year when they decided to play against the Leafs you saw how bad they can dominate another team. I think they were saving all out play for the playoffs because they knew from last year how exhausting it will be and home ice doesn't mean much. You can always win on the road. Then Boston goes, oh here take home ice advantage too on top it. Bob got his old man rest so he should have a strong game. 2 or less goals. Can FL score against Boston and Swayman? I think that's the biggest problem. Can Boston bend but just not break until FL does their stupid parade to the penalty box?

We got some dirt on us this year with the likes of Pat Maroon. I'm anxious to see if he can counter Florida's one and only weapon: Dirt We didn't see it hardly at all in game 1 and that makes sense. Can't risk suspensions so early in the series. But once Florida is facing elimination we just have to keep our fingers crossed that they don't end a Bruins player's career. Florida sucks as a hockey team. The only thing they can do is muscle their way through. The Stanley Cup playoffs favor that kind of big baby tantrum way of winning. They proved it last year, and Boston hasn't had much of that kind of dirt for a playoff run in years.

As a Bruins fan it’s hard to argue with your logic. If the Bruins do pull it off it will be goaltending.
