Holy crap, I'm a little over 2 years out and was starting to panic. I've lost 160 pounds and never adjusted my eating, just ate less and continued to lose. Slowed down and down and down until I plateaued at my goal of 160 and stayed there for about 6 months, no matter what I did so I was fine. Then, I gained a couple of pounds, then a few more and next thing you know I'm almost 20 pounds up from my lowest weight and that's when I started freaking out. Stumbled across this video and and it's totally helped me get myself back in line. I've added in exercise as well and now I'm dropping again. It takes a while to make it a habit but if you do it long enough and you have people around you to support your bizzarre behavior it will work.

Thank you Dr Vuong. I practiced this just now for dinner and ate only at about 70-80% of my “full capacity” . I quickly realised that it’s not a problem for me to let go of my fork and knife wand to chew my food more. my problem is on the size of each bite I was taking, not taking enough time after swallowing to feel my stomach. After I determined I was satisfied I noticed I only ate half of what I had prepared! This technique is So effective to correct bad eating habits that are slowly creeping back. I’m 5 months post op!

Here's another tip that I do: close your eyes while you chew & swallow. Keep them closed for a few moments so you can thoroughly enjoy the flavor of your food, and then do an assessment of how your sleeve feels. Once I started to finally do this (along with Duc's other ideas) it made a huge difference in my overeating. I am 2 years out and stopped losing weight after the first 6 months. I had my surgery in Mexico which was an absolute disaster (they dropped me off the operating table right after the surgery - I fractured both ankles - also, the surgeon said my stomach was too large and only was able to take out 50% of my stomach). My daughter had this surgery in the States and what a HUGE difference in quality. Whoops - didn't mean to get off on a tangent there. I want to be completely honest here too - I had an alcohol addiction even after my surgery and continued to drink for a full year, which also caused me to have little weight loss. So, about 11 months ago I quit drinking and I started to exercise. Not hard - just some stretches in the morning and then 15 minutes of stupid dancing when no one could see me! And also using these tricks taught in this video. Now I i am finally losing again. I know my pouch is stretched but I do still feel restriction. Incidentally, the American surgeons told me that only having 50% of my stomach removed was useless and would not get me results. Nonetheless, mindful eating while closing my eyes has made a huge difference. I am happy to report that after 2 years I have FINALLY lost 90 pounds. You always hear about the people losing 130 pounds within 9 months. Well not everyone is going to have results like that. I'm just glad I survived the surgery in Mexico, got sober, and found this video to help me get back on track. Gonna take a LOT of work to get down to a weight I can live with - I still have another 100 pounds to lose but I think if I take it slow and easy I will eventually get there. Granted, it might be 3 years after I die but I WILL get there! Good luck to all of you :)

I started following these 8 steps 2 days ago and I already am losing again. Another thing that helps me keeping my bites small is that I am eating with chopsticks. We have been told to use the 20/20/20 method. 20p size bite chewed 20times & wait 20seconds then expect to take 20 minutes to eat the meal. Get used to eating cold food.

This was a good reminder, i have watched it before. I did not learn this from my surgeon and I am 8 months out, down 100 lbs total, but have not lost in a couple weeks so I am trying to change things up and it was good to see this video again. Thank you Dr. V

Well, its a life-saving procedure most particularly when comorbidities are involed. Having had VSG Nov 2018 with hiatal hernia repair done concurrently. It totally cured my misrable GERD, and debilitating back pain caused by disc protrusion L3-S1 with compression at L4 and bilateral sciatica all of those symptoms disappeared within 6 weeks of surgery. 5 months post-op I had my first biliary colic attack which was soon followed by lap cholecystectomy. Now 9 months post op, very active working out and eating balanced diet virtually tolerating most foods, pain-free and GERD free. Starting weight 140 Kg (BMI 47), now 90 Kg (BMI 30) The challenge for me now is maintaining a balanced diet
