Now you have to live with the fact that your country started the worst conflict that have ever happened on earth, and you still didnt pay reparations for Poland for murdering 6 million people! not really. what kind of cameras are you referring to? This footage was probably shot by something that at the time was a high-end piece of equipment, not something that normal mortals could afford with one months salary.

Stahlhelm was an absolute beaut. Should make a comeback but I guess the associations between it and Nazism is too big over there in Germany. Very sad. Well in any case, just wanted to point out the Germans' remarkable sense of rhythm, as a musician myself. Marches are of course intended partially to be a display of discipline, but their internal rhythm never ceases to amaze.

Germany despite its sour 20th century reputation has a very rich martial history. Their armies have always been renowned for discipline and ingenuity. In fact in America most of the settlers of the midwest states were German, Irish, and Scandinavian. These men mostly first and second generation made up the back bone of much the USA best fighting units of the Civil War and through the early 20th century. In fact its quipped in my home state of Wisconsin that if it wasn't for us many famous battles would of been losses. So it's nice to see the homeland that built not just a nice looking force but a functional one.

Grandfather joined the Germany army in early 1936, he saw the writing on the wall and took the heightened physical fitness test to join the new Luftwaffe as a Stuka rear gunner. It saved his life. Later while filing retirement paperwork the FRG recognized him as Weimar era.

Whatever the history is connected to this song, really shouldn't matter to those of us who appreciate good music and great marching songs. This song is written in such a way, that it sounds modern and never old or outdated. A true stroke of genius of vibrant regal energy. Not just this song, but I really like this country's national anthem and other marching songs that were created for them. Erika, is such a fun song, as well.

@@thofromm4987 versteh meine Frage nicht als Diffamierung. Mich interessiert viel mehr, ob du selbst in der Armee gedient hast und bei solchen Bildern dich zurück erinnert? Natürlich könnte der Stolz auch daher kommen, dass man ein Volk ist, dessen Vergangenheit eine grössere geopolitische Rolle spielte. Oder auch eine Faszination damaliger Militärtechnik. Ich zb. lese und höre noch sehr oft über Waffen, insbesondere Panzertechnik während des 1 und 2 Weltkrieges. Natürlich versteht sich von selbst, dass wenn man für die damaligen Taten oder damaliger Politik stolz empfindet, einen, wie du schreibst, 0er im Kopf hat. Aber ich muss gestehen, meine Frage war falsch gewählt. Es suggeriert was komplett falsches... ein wieso, wärw angebrachter gewesen... Aber auch das gäbe kein Grund beleidigend zu werden oder?

My Daddy was born 1927 and got to be in the Hitler Luftwaffe Air youth club. He learned there to be an airplane electrician cause he leid about his age. In 1959 he started with Kaiser Aluminum in Oakland California. Henry Kaiser who hosted our family from then Canada ( where I was born ) and my Daddy became an Electrical engineer and went on to build factories in Europe , America , & S.America. God rest his soul. I went to the first Woodstock when I was 15. 😂
