Such a classy gentleman! He doesn't try to take advantage of her at all, he calls her Miss Vivian instead of just Vivian and he helps her as much as he can. This is how a true mannered person acts.

The manager is a textbook example of how one should act: dignified, firm and professional but compassionate. A class act. The saleswoman is also a great example of what sales is really about: taking the time to listen, finding out what the persons needs are and being helpful - it's a very under-appreciated job.

My grandfather was a gentleman like that. He treated everyone with dignity. He died in 1959 a month before I turned 11. He died one week after my best friend's mother. They lived next door. I can still see his kind face, hear his soft voice; he set the bar pretty damn high and I could never quite reach it. To this day, people remember him as "a sweet old gentleman."

The hotel manager knew exactly how to manage a situation that could have quickly escalated into a very ugly scene. "I trust you have no other "uncles" here at the hotel" -- says it all. And yet he made the compassionate phone call to help Vivien out - with a friend who could outfit her with a dress so she could enjoy an evening like no other. There are truly good people in this world ... very low key style and exuding class.

I used this same quote when my baby girl (14) was treated horrible at a club softball tryout. If you don't choose her for the team, that's fine, but you should at least thank the kids for coming out and send an e-mail letting them know they were not chosen. Short time thereafter they played in a tournament for some horrible reason only 9 girls showed up. The coach was NOT happy. I don't blame him. The experienced catcher wasn't there so she was it! They came back from 8 runs down to beat an amazing team in the semi-finals - she caught a throw from the outfield in sudden death overtime and tackled the girl in front of the plate to save the day! They went on immediately after the over time semi-final game to play the team that "didn't choose her and treated her badly." They beat them by one run and she played amazingly! Caught a foul ball by the fence, diving catch! The coaches of the other team all made positive comments. I said the Pretty Woman line, ha ha ha! Your work hard, you demonstrate sportsmanlike behavior, you never give up and God has a way of helping you shine through in the end! She is presently studying for her mcats and wants to go into the military as a physician afterward! Go Bean!

One of my favorite movies. I've watched this movie at least 25+ times, when it first came out! I had all the scenes memorized. 😆 and I have it on a DVD in my collection. 😁 Love all the movies from the 80's, 80's. They just don't make them like that anymore. Richard Gere is still handsome! Too bad they never made part 2. Maybe, showing them married with children.

Some sales people are rude by looking at the way we dress when we walk to the shop or boutique. .however most of the times we just want to be free & easy to wear casual doesn't mean we have to be humiliated by the way we dress..I go casual especially on holidays even to a 5 star hotel/resort or shopping in Jean n thirty ..who cares ..don't be upset over n we don't need to live in other ppl's term. .enjoy life n be happy so long as we do the right ..Cheers.

Kyu ryo I don't want to be that asshole. But if u wanna play semantics, absolutely everyone can be special (linguistically) without it meaning nobody is. Everyone can theoretically be 'special' in a way different to everyone else. Meaning there's something uniquely 'special' about every person, that stands out from everyone else - everyone else who has their own unique 'special' quality. Ok I'm drunk - off to bed 😂

This is an illustration of how everyone matters, from Billionaires to the homeless addicts on the street. Everyone has a story and listening is always an education. I found this out recently when I met an alcoholic called Paul, who despite being very drunk responded to a situation in a way that indicated he is a good guy. Money cannot buy decency.
