Because of this reason, my focus on studies is also getting affected...

it is so difficult to explain to our parents why an apparently perfect proposal is not good for me. They use such weird tricks emotional blackmail, crying and what not. It is so frustrating.

Exactly shared my thoughts and views. And, this is exactly what's happening to me at the moment. I am a very calm person by nature but sometimes my Mom pushes me so much that I lose my cool and raise my voice to put across my point. Such a therapeutic video. :)

I am in a relationship since 10+ years. Parents are completely against it. I tried to make them understand but they always disrespect me. Abuse me emotionally every day and there is no limit to how cheap they say. They are forcing me do arrange marriage .I don't want to leave my parents as I am the eldest daughter and i want to take care of them And I can't leave my boyfriend coz we love eachother and understand eachother. I am exhausted now I really need peace. I don't know what to do.

Parents dont understand, they see marriage in a different way. How can society, their image in relatives, their opinions could be more important than their daughter's life. In my case its not just pressure of getting married but get arranged marriage. Like many others, my parents didn't allow us for love marriage and now after seeing the reality i am so shocked. They themselves dont know what they are doing, arranged marriage is a messed up process. Parents dont have the control over the situation. They are married since decades but for them important thing is caste, and then education, job, salary, family... i am not saying its not at all important but there are way more important things than this which they dont even consider. If two people will have to live their life together and forever then i guess trust, understanding, truthfulness, transparency, respect, equality, love are the most important things but here in arranged marriage they are not given importance. How can i know the person doesn't lie, that he is ethical, has the same values, just in couple of talks. i wish i knew this reality before. Love marriage seems far better now, people know who they are marrying, they love their partners after knowing about them and then get married and i think thats the right thing. My parents made me meet a guy yesterday, a complete stranger and they want me to marry him. Now i am trying to find a way to escape this situation but its difficult.

Its also important for both girls and boys to be completely financially independent. Not just some job but financially independence and ability to responsibilities. By this way olny will they have the freedom to make there own life choices. Unfortunately in India lot of the youth is dependent on there parents even in 20s.

I snapped because my father has a weird way of talking to which I won’t take ever cos I have been let down horribly in many areas of life n I tc of my needs When I told them have u ever tried understanding my issues lol then he said I can’t talk to u and hung up ….. After a long time I wasn’t hurt the call got cut n I said what I said

I disagree with your statement saying that, "They have a right to disagree with you, you have to respect that," Absolutely not. They don't have any "right" to disagree with me, on MY choices about MY life. They don't have any "right" on my life, so they don't have any "right" to agree or disagree with my choices. Can they "choose" to not agree - yes, but that's on them. It's a "choice" they are making, which is on them, not a "right" that they are exercising. And I'm in no way obliged to respect "their" choices /opinions on MY life. Using words like "they have a right to", when it comes to issues about parents doesn't actually help. Better omit such words.
