Thank you for this lesson. I never looked something like this up because, well ... I had been ironing for years my clothes... but man, my fabric seemed to take forever to "press" because I was ironing it, and the wrinkles would spring back. I watched this video and "pressed" the fabric after spritzing with the spray bottle... turned the steam off the iron after a few moments (yeah, duh me, right!?!) the wrinkles were then gone! I really feel like Homer. And I truly thank you for this lesson! Never knew I was doing it wrong all these years. This will save me so much time by doing it right! (Ironing was one of the reasons I got out of learning to sew.) Like a lot of people, am making masks... and I'm relearning so many basic steps that it was assumed that I knew.

If you lay the iron on a tortilla, like how fast can u warm it up?

What is press cloth?

Any tips on how to get glue (from fusible interfacing) off the iron without using anything abrasive? I have one with a Teflon sole (I know, I know, what was I thinking...). I already tried several solvents like acetone, but nothing seems to work.

Rara Avis, I tried the following with a stainless iron. Not sure it will work but here it is. Heat the iron to its highest setting and then iron a piece of scrap cotton. It’ll take a few passes, but it worked for me. Good luck

Ive done that a few times already! Uggggggg! My iron sole plate is stainless. I use Magic Eraser when i need to clean. Im not sure how that would work on your iron plate. You can try Goo Gone. Its made to remove adhesives. ( I use it to remive lables from containes if a hot water soak doesnt do the trick.) On the same idea of pressing with adhesives, i stumbled across this idea that has worked excellent for me. When replacing a new ironing board cover (partially because of adhesive residue) I cut about 18'-20' from the square end. Thats the portion thats rarely used and its in really good condition. I finish (serge) just the cut end because the other three ends are already finished. I now use this scrap (that i cut off from the old cover) to use over my 'good' board cover to keep it 'adhesive free' when working with an appliqué pieces or interfacing. My new cover stays clean as well as my iron providing i dont have my interfacing upside down! LOL! Good luck! Happy sewing
