Been 11 years since I did any type of live sound. I left when digital boards were coming in. Had a small gig Saturday night and you're the one who taught me this board. Thank you for doing these tutorials! I appreciate you! 😆😆😆

This guy explains it the easiest way for right brained musicians like us! I go to other Presonus teachings on KZread, and they always think that the person who watching knows whats he talking about like release, attack, low, mid, high, and so on. THIS IS THE BEST ON KZread!

Dude your videos are the best I've found to help me understand the 16.4.2 board I bought on Saturday. Sure you could have been born with a paid announcers voice and your camera could be less jerky but your simple explanations of the features and functionality of this unit are better than anyone else here on KZread. What you lack in production polish you make up for in detailed information that I spent most of my Sunday afternoon looking for. Right ON!

Nice vid. That button below the HPF is the Polarity inversion knob though. Cheers

I downloaded the manual from PreSonus. I found it in the manual on page 40; there's a table that lists them all. Great starting point.

All of the churches and bands I've set up over the past 2.5 years are using StudioLive mixers. I've had 2 issues, they were both boards that were defective on arrival and were replaced by Presonus. My experience has been really really good. Best vote I can give is it's what I buy for myself and I'm a dealer for all major brands. Keep in mind Presonus sells tens of thousands per year of this board. There are going to be people with issues out there, it's a matter of math.

@Gabrisapiens Thank you so much for that correction. I guess that was one of those items that I assumed what it did instead of reading the manual. There is always something more you can learn!

Thanks for the quick response. I've been doing SR for years and this board looks like it has some great features that I wish I didn't have to do outboard via insert with racks of gear; and are available for every channel. I downloaded the manual and it doesn't have the list either. Cheers.

Your tutorials are very useful. Do you have a video on setting up a headphone aux. I just bought the presonus studio live AI 16.4.2 mixer and for the life of me, I can't get sound in both ears of my headphones. I linked the two aux busses together like instructed in the manual, but I'm only getting sound in my left ear. Why is that & can you help? Thanks, Sean

Nice video man, but let me correct you. 1:20 The High Pass Filter don't have an ON/OFF button. When you select the Freq is ON, and if you turn it all way down is OFF. (See the OFF under 24 Hz) There's no relation between the Phase (that button under the High Pass Knob) and the High Pass filter. Just to clarify that point. ;-) But all your Training videos are great!!!

Good video. the button under the highpass is the phase invert though, not the on for the highpass.

Thanks for this video. Is the presonus 16.4.2 a good mixer to use with ProTools 10?

  • @joseph-ow1hf

Sir, do you know if on a 16.0.2 USB there is a way to NOT route a channel to the Main output bus? Most mixers have channel routing buttons. But I don't see, unless I'm missing something. Was hoping buried in UC but not that I can tell. This is a major design flaw if no way to change.

I don't know of anywhere online that lists all of the presets. Yes the presets include all of the FAT channel settings. And yes it comes with 50 presets.

  • @JonSkelton

When loading a factory preset, sax is what you used in the previous video, do those preset include all of the FAT channel settings: Gate, Comp, Limit, EQ? Where can I find a list of those presets? It looked like the factory already made 50 of them. Like you said that's a good starting point.

The button u pushed saying is high pass on and off is not a on and off it is a phase button. The dial turns the high pass on and off.

grease pencil. Not a fan of it though. Much prefer either a lable maker or masking tape and a sharpie marker.
