Hey there, I'm into music production, mainly EDM. I'm currently choosing between the e3.5s, e4.5s and samson m30s as I have a rather small bedroom that I wish to turn into a bedroom studio so I was wondering if you had any advice on which ones I should get.

Hi! If you use something like the PreSonus Temblor subs, the sub will act as your hub and provide all of the crossover work. Just run out of the sub into your monitors and you're good to go!

Hi! You can do it a few ways. Out of a phone or a laptop, you can just run a dual 1/8" cable into the front of the left monitor. That monitor then has a cable that feeds the right monitor. Out of an interface, you'd run two 1/4" TRS cables into the back of the left monitor, and then that monitor would feed the right monitor. If your interface has XLR outs, you'd need an XLR to 1/4" TRS adapter.

Thanks! I guess I'm a little confused by their description because it says they are 'Ideal for gaming and home video production'. Yet Presonis describes the Eris 4.5 as 'The serious musician needs tools that showcase premium sound, and these Presonus Eris E4.5 High Def 4.5-inch studio monitors deliver with superior bass-frequency reproduction'. I am a bit of an amateur musician looking to set up a home recording studio...should I pay extra and get the 4.5?

The E3.5's are definitely great budget monitors for home recording. At $99 US, they're pretty tough to beat for the money. They have solid mids and pretty accurate top end. The low end sounds good, but for mixing things like kick drums, bass guitar or electronic music with confidence, the E4.5's have a slight advantage. The low end will be a little more true. Either set though will get the job done. If you're in the United States, give us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01. We're a PreSonus dealer and love chatting gear. We'd be happy to go over what your needs are and try to point you in the right direction. The E3.5's might be perfectly fine for what you're after. Plus, mention this video and we'll give you a promo code for our Autumn Sales Event. - Juan

These are multimedia speakers. It means, they are not neutral, ergo completely useless as studio monitors. Check out Adam T7V or the Yamaha HS series. Don't buy cheap ones or you will just waste money.

HotShot Hi there. We also sell Adam and Yamaha speakers, if people have a larger budget. These e3.5’s are, by design, made for project studios and multimedia purposes. Having compared them to our huge inventory of monitors, some of which cost north of a few thousand dollars each, these are an excellent option for someone just starting out with a modest budget. If we were lying in an attempt to trick people into buying monitors, recommending the cheapest option in our inventory would seem like a really bad way of ripping someone off, wouldn’t you say? There are great options these days in every price range, and we stock gear for people of all levels and budgets. These E3.5’s are the best $99 monitors in the game. If someone wants a pair of Genelec 8350A’s, we have those too.

@@BoyntonProAudio These are multimedia speakers and completely useless for music production. You should know it. Yet you still want him to waste money here, because sooner or later he will be forced to buy real monitors, in order to be able to make good mixes. Btw, if you think, these 8350A are great, you better go and listen to Neumann KH310A. After that you won't mention Genelec ever again.

@@epicgamer-fy2hd The E3.5's will definitely work, but if you're trying to hear how EDM will sound blasting through a giant PA system or a high wattage car stereo, a sub would be recommended in most any situation. That said, you could definitely start with the $99 E3.5's and then add a sub later. We'd be happy to chat about your needs and come up with a pair of speakers that would fit your needs and budget. Definitely Presonus Eris E3.5 (+ Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 as a subwoofer for deeper low end down to 40 Hz)! Presonus Eris E3.5 are less bass-heavy (which is kinda annoying for studio monitors), much flatter, more accurate and truthful in the sound reproduction. They have a much cleaner sound and provide a higher sound definition. They have also a pretty wide sweet spot. Make sure to use them on stands for optimal height (horizontal axis between tweeter and woofer should be at the height of your ears). Here you can compare the sound of the M-Audio AV42/32 with the Presonus Eris E3.5 a little bit: >>> kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKNtqaWtkczTmrg.html >>> kzread.info/dash/bejne/o46nlNN6qK-7Yaw.html

@@spookymulder1171 The Presonus Eris E3.5 and Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 combo is still my preferred standard setup for studio monitors in an acoustically not treated room. I use this combination as a secondary listening device for composing. My primary device is a high-end headphone solution (especially for composing silently in my flat for not disturbing my neighbours), consisting of: Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro (Black Edition) studio headphones... connected to a Lake People G109-P headphone amp... connected to a Steinberg UR44 audio interface. But just to come back to the studio monitor solution... Make sure you will position the Presonus Eris E3.5 at the optimal height (maybe use some stands to bring the horizontal axis between tweeters and woofers of the Presonus Eris E3.5 at the height of your ears in your standard sitting position). It's a really awesome setup for composing as well as for listening to music, movies, games etc. At the moment, I can't really use my Presonus Eris E3.5 for studio activities, because I've build them up at my console gaming corner - just to enjoy games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake even more (with awesome sound quality). But a good friend has given his Yamaha MSP 3 studio monitors to me meanwhile. These sound less spectacular, but maybe a little bit more faithful when it comes to things like composing and mixing/mastering. They also seem to have even a slightly higher sound definition. But from most of the studio monitors I've listened to at a music store or at home, the Presonus Eris E3.5, the Yamaha MSP 3, the Yamaha HS 8 and the M-Audio BX8 D3 have been my biggest winners in the beginner and advanced price range of studio monitors. So, don't hesitate to go for the Presonus Eris E3.5 & Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 - it's radically decent stuff. Maybe try my setup for a good balance between studio monitors and subwoofer), if you control the overall volume of your sound via audio interface (which is directly connected to the subwoofer first and where the subwoofer brings the connection to the studio monitors): Presonus Eris E3.5: ------------------------------- - volume: 50 % (centered knob position) - treble: 50 % (centered knob position) - bass: 25 % Fostex PM-SUBmini 2: ------------------------------------ - volume: 25 % - crossover: 60 Hz (lowest setting) With this kind of setup you might enjoy all kinds of music in a normal medium-sized room without any special acoustic treatment.
