I never realised that E types were so well engineered compared to the majority of the cars from the 60s. They are beautiful inside and out.

Came to the conclusion that Jag got a lot of the ideas for building the E type, having built Spitfires.......the idea of the combination of frame and tub......but even so it feels a little old/safe......but it got the job done.

This has to be one of the most desirable 3.8 S1 E-Types in existence, I'm so glad you just cleaned it up and didn't repaint it 👌

The old fan motors are in fact wiper motors repurposed for the job. Typical Jaguar penny pinching. They were never up to the task. Great video as usual thanks.

I have owned a 1963 FHC "E" Type for twenty-seven years. It's a sound car if rather shabby but it had been messed about a good deal before I had it. The tan leather interior has been mostly replaced with black vinyl and it has been painted maroon from the original gold. For years and years I have wanted to find a source of photos or videos of a factory original car so I can see what went where, how it was attached, what's missing etc. so I can improve my car and make it more like when it left Browns Lane. This excellent series of videos is just what I've needed all this time. Dr Haddock's book is pretty useless by comparison. I will be revisiting these videos over and over again. Richard you have done a first class job in reviving and preserving this car which is so much more interesting than turning out just another over-restored 'E' Type. I thoroughly approve. Thank you so much.

I owned a '68 OTS in my 20s during the 70s. Watching your, Keep it as original as possible philosophy , videos put so many many smiles on my face. For I rebuilt most all of mine and boy did you bring back long lost memories. I got rid of those , in my opinion, horrible Stromberg carbs and put in the 3 SUs. Man what a difference in power. I rebuilt the rear end and changed the 3:54 to 3:31 It was my daily driver and also the car I cut my teeth on. I put at least 150k+ miles on her. Thanks for the memories and the smiles. Aloha

RMO, Great job on the car. I would love to have a Father like yours, the quiet one. Start doing this: turn your muffler clamps 180deg so as the bolts and protruding parts (the part that catches road junk) are on the top. Especially on the resonators.I like the later HD SS (Euro)band clamps. My two pennies.

Great, great job by the Owens. Such an impressive car ! Just looking at it at 22:31 justifies what Enzo once said : "Di most bioutifull carr everr". Yep, Sir ! And THE sound of that Brit straight six is unique ! Pure music to any serious gearhead. As for the paint, a good experience detailer can bring it back a lot. Thanks for sharing that journey with us fans, Michael ! 👍 I just hope that the local and lucky owner keeps it here. Not selling it to a rich American "investor" and becoming a Trailer Queen. 😢 A Jay Leno often says, those cars were made to be driven.

I'd recommend putting a heat shield over the rear of the generator to keep the electrical connections from getting roasted by the exhaust headers. I made up a shield out of some scrap aluminium and pop rivets and fastened it to the generator with a large hose clamp. Not really elegant, but sure helps the generator keep its cool!

Awesome project! Love seeing this car preserved. I'm sure you've found this issue already, but, just in case you haven't, it looks like the cooling fan is rotating the opposite direction than it should be. It looked like it was rotating clockwise (looking forward from the engine) and, thus, would be pushing air into the radiator. Marvelous job as always. Cheers.
