    Great!... We also(in Colombia) use those phrases in Spanish ...en mucho tiempo, durante mucho tiempo y por mucho tiempo. That's why I can get the use of this structure in English... thanks a lot...see ya

    For the first time in a long time, I understood better the difference among both prepositions! Takeaway: For a long time: Past- present- future No only is used in negative sentences but also positive sentences. in a long time: Past- present- future in negative sentences and superlative. Thanks again!

    I tend to say "in such a long time", and now I realize "such" is just a redundancy
