PrePoMax & CalculiX - GUI Contact

A demonstration of the contact analysis using the PrePoMax pre and post-processor for the CalculiX FEM solver. A hard contact between components is used which is automatically converted to the default linear contact by CalculiX. Reaction forces and contact forces are investigated at the end.

Hi Matej. This is brilliant. I have been using FreeCAD with Calculix for a couple of years now and I have only just discovered PrePoMax. This really is awesome - I have an imported linear static solid model running with animations in less than 10 minutes. Great work!!

Wow Matej, this open source FEA software is really rather powerful and seems quite robust and a lot more user friendly (GUI) when compared to other free software. I installed it two days ago and cannot pull myself away from it :) I am keen to try pushing it's limits a little and will be providing some user recommendations for next updates, if you don't mind. Well done ! ... and thank you !

Hello Matej, congratulations for the software, as FEMAP user I can tell you I’m very impressed and I will use more PrePoMax. One question, is in your future planning add the hexaedrical mesh possibility? Thank you

Hi Matej , great work, i love PrePomax :) , I have a question, it is possible to change the color spectrum only for the stress? when I manually change it works perfectly but when I go back to displacements the color ranges remain the same, if not , it would be nice if the color spectrum is independent of displacement and stress.

Thank you, I am happy you like it. At the moment there is only one colour spectrum/limit for all results. But I added a feature request for different colour spectrums for the different output fields was to the to-do list.

Thanks for the great videos. I am considering this for a project and wondering if this is the right software for that. The questions are: 1) Can this model steel rebar embedded in concrete? 2) Can it model both steel rebar and concrete in the nonlinear range of the material response? 3) Does it do explicit analysis? 4) Does it do concrete creep and shrinkage for concrete? 5) Does it do nonlinear dynamic analysis? 6) Do I need to write input text file, or is everything done visually? Thank you so much.

Hello Mr. Brovinsek, I have a question. I made an statical analysis in PrePoMax which I examined the normal stress in a bar. I had a section view of that bar at hte point where I want to examine. For example S33 normal stress results. My problem is the results were given in color spectrums like between 100 MPa - 70 MPa is green, between 130 MPa - 100 MPa is red. So we need to look at the colors to distinguish the results on a section view, and we cannot have a precise result. I tried to find a way which I will be able to look just the place I click on like Probe feature in ANSYS. Is there any possible ways I will be able to examine the result value of the exact point I click on?

There is a tool for that. You can find it under Tools->Query. But it does not work on secion cuts. You can also change the limits of the color legend in the settings to narrow down the color values. In the future, a better place to ask such questions is the Forum :)

To add a selection use the SHIFT key and to remove a selection use a CTRL key. To make an intersection of selections use SHIFT+CTRL key combination.
