Good timing to address summer heat waves. Shade has a huge impact. Also Shade + fan across the water surface. I like to use the patio umbrella and melt icecubes in the pond. Thank you for Chicken Cameo! LOL!

Yeah, it’s so hot here at the moment.. It’s just a 2 day heat wave though, so should be back to normal tomorrow.. A fans definitely a good shout! Haha, the chickens do like to make an appearance! 😄

Thank you, haven’t had to use the frozen water bottles yet, but its good to know I have them at the ready! And the chickens do love a good dust bath, especially in a plant pot! 😂

Great info! I did my first deck planter pond this year here in Iowa.... we're having a heat stretch. I've been monitoring water temps by feel. It was pretty warm last night, so I did a partial water change and added cold outdoor faucet water. Will monitor on a morning and night basis. LOVE the frozen water bottle idea! Thanks!

@GingerFishyOfficial today when I got home from work, I officially used the frozen bottle of water idea, as the planter pond was way too warm. Heat index outside was around 125 degrees Fahrenheit today. I left the bubblers on high over night and all day to help oxygenate, and added more water lettuce floaters to cover top of water and add ample shade. Fish are all happy right now.
