    I have anubis in my tank it fits with the bichirs very well also i recomend geting some smooth branches for anubis becouse they grow very big and tent to flout of from sand and gravel then bichirs punch into the also anubis wont grow around the branches but you can tie them together with plastic zip ties and branches would look amazing in your tank also you can make a cave like layout with branches and anubis and you dont have to wory about injuries

    Hey Bryan! I want to start a bichir tank with m 75 gallon. Would that work? What tank size do you keep your bichirs in?

  • @BryanLa

    @BryanLa

    6 ай бұрын

    75 should work for smaller bichirs, footprint matters more than water volume. 75 gallons are usually 18in wide, captive bred senegals or delhezis will be your best bet

    hello. I am new to Bichirs. I ordered a Senegal , (as it seemed the smallest species) through my local fish store. For reasons unknown , I received a ' Delhezi '. A banded Bichir. All the bichir info I find seems GENEREALISED. So I ask , what works for a specific Bichir species works for all ?

  • @BryanLa

    @BryanLa

    3 жыл бұрын

    Delhezi gets a little bigger than senegals, but if it's captive bred they'll stay smaller then what you'll read online. Delhezi is pretty much the same care as senegals (except for size). They're active so keep a tight lid. I lost a handful of my old delhezis from jumping out. Try to not overfeeding and they'll look nice and not bloated. Try to not use gravel substrate because bichirs can accidently swallow gravel when eating.

    Sup bro..nice bichirs..im also starting my own bichir tank..got 1 ornate,1 endlicheri and 2 albino senegales..i got white substrate and im noticing that my endli is losing his pattern so im wonder what kind sand you got in your tank and where can i find them.

  • @BryanLa

    What's up bro, my sand is garnet. You can find it online just look up garnet sand. If you can look for pure red substrate that would be best, bichirs color up best on super red sand.

    Good day sir. Im planning to house one bichir for my 75gal aquarium but im using a small black lava rock as a substrate, so its a no no for me?

  • @BryanLa

    @BryanLa

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello! I've seen people keep bichirs with gravel with no problem, but I personally won't ever keep bichirs with gravel or small lava rock. Because when they eat they inhale the food super fast and could accidently swallow the gravel/lava rock. This is an issue because the bichir won't be able to pass it and die. So yea I'd advise against it 😁

    @@lovem1024 mine ate pellets when they were young, just give it some time and they'll eat. If that doesn't work try bloodworms. • @BryanLa

    @BryanLa

    Mmm that depends on the size of the other tankmates. I rarely ever keep fish with turtles because my turtle would destroy anything. And I stopped keeping plecos because it killed my old ranchu. I personally would not keep my bichir with those types tankmates.

    I have some friends i grew up with in the states that eventually moved to the Philippines too! From what I've seen in their tanks they don't run a heater.
