Put a 55 gallon garbage bag in the empty flap and it can serve as cover. You also need to add 4 safety pins for tie downs and an n95 mask.

Maybe the best personnal survival kit I've seen on KZread. And this from somebody who's been binging on videos about survival, bushcraft, EDC bags, etc. I like your choice of the Janus pouch. I am building my new first aid kit using the same pouch. Vesatile and great organization options. You cover most of the basics with so much stuff in such a small space. Even a stove! Well planed and executed. Maybe if there is still room in there for a small space blanket (for some Cover), a few purification tablets, and some signaling devices such as a whistle and/or mirror.

As to what I carry in mine - uh, well, still working on it. What I try to do with my so called "bug out bag" is instead of putting a crap load of prepackaged food and stuff thats going to run out eventually, I try to put self reliance type gear, tools and objects that will help me in the long run. For example, I have a slingshot in my pack, so when I run out of the beans and flour in my pack, I will have something to kill small game without having to use my ammo. So having things like that will end up helping you in the long run, when everybody else has ran out of supplies. I also believe that without survival knowledge, when the your supplies run out, they just run out. So I would advise everybody to get loads of knowledge so you will know how to replenish your supplies when they're gone. By the way, great little edc pouch, looking forward to more.

Cool little tins but unless they are packed in such a way to prevent rattling/noise, then they would be no bueno for me. Anything that was in my bag that rattles in any way was discarded. If it is something that I can't discard then I will place something inside/between to prevent rattling. First rule of thumb with my packs is no noise.

I'm a forgetful person. For a kit that I use items from, I keep an index card in there with a list of stuff that belongs in the kit. And use checkmark boxes to remind what needs replacing. And for seldom used kits, the list makes a quick way to scan thru what is in the kit, rather than dumping everything out to find whether something is in that particular kit. First Aid Kits are an example for that.

Nice kit, kind of reminds me of the M40 kits which I'm a huge fan of. His site is excellent I highly recommend it www.m4040.com/Survival/Store/Storefront.htm. I've had those Frontier filters before but they say they only filter 12 gallons or so. You should consider the Sawyer Mini Filter, about the same size but can filter 100,000 gallons. When I discovered them I thought they were too good to be true but I've never looked back. For $20, and almost weightless, I consider them one of the most indispensable pieces of gear I carry. Great video and great channel. I have a Typhoon on the way as I type.

@@livingsurvival WILL A MODERN PHONE FIT INSIDE?
Excellent video on what appears to be the perfect sized edc pouch. All of your contents are sensible, no nonsense items, no wasted space. Excellent, well thought out kit. As to what I carry in mine - uh, well, still working on it. I figure I'ok get the items first ( got most of them) then get the smallest gear pouch that will hold them, rather than buy a pouch and fill it. I'll follow your example , though.

Add a couple water purification tablets and a thermal/Mylar blanket. You could fit a Sawyer mini filter, maybe.
I would add a few tie wraps. I have used them to provide relief for a broken show lace and a litany of other temp fixes.

Very nice, but I would add spare batteries, a whistle, and an orange mylar space blanket. I would also replace the paracord with survival cord as it contains an extra source of tinder and a useful wire.
The Frontier Straw filters only chemicals, not bacteria. How about a Sawyer Mini?

I would add some heavy gauge aluminum foil that you could fold up and store with that micro stove to use for boiling water , cooking etc. IMO .
Cool Vid! A lot like what I carry! But I keep Snare wire & Multi tool in the bag And my little tins i use are packed so full that nothing else would fit in them

Living Survival your welcome
that's a tylanol capsule style I haven't seen in a long time.
Toto video se ti velmi podařilo a preto žoviálně sa tito podařilo dávám té laik

I would put the F lens in a envelope ( paper ) additional fire tender if needed and in the unused flap ( at this time ) I would place some heavy duty alum foil in a Ziploc
As always your video was a great learning tool for me. I just got the maxpedition kodiak gearslinger and i was wondering if this janis pack would fit on the shoulder strap? I have the 5.11 moab 10 and it has a very handy little pouch on the shoulder strap. I love that pack too but the kodiak is a bit better suited for my needs. Thanks again for all your great videos! Drew.

Drew4078 It should. But don't hold me to it. Great little pouch though.
Cool little tins but unless they are packed in such a way to prevent rattling/noise, then they would be no bueno for me. Anything that was in my bag that rattles in any way was discarded. If it is something that I can't discard then I will place something inside/between to prevent rattling. First rule of thumb with my packs is no noise.
like your kit
I use that same extension pack as mine. I have a few less things but the thinks I keep are a little more robust and I cover all 10 c's

Nice. Really good kit. I kinda figured that you're missing a compass though. That's a necessity.
@livingsurvival

Agreed, got a compass on my wrist and in my get home bag / bug out bag but would nice nice to have a small one in there. Good idea. Thanks for the comment.

That's quite big for a " personal " survival kit . You don't need the sanitizer, just use alcohol pads . Instead of taking a note book take a SOL emergency blanket. Good tho

I have a Typhoon on the way as I type.
what a sence having fishinkit in personal and 24h suevival kit? It takes a place and during 24-48h propably u dont need eat just water and water no time for fishing. You willbe need fishing propably since 3 day your odyssey. So fishing kit put into 72h survival kit.
