Great video! I've just recently got into thumb release and love it. Thirty years ago a made a bunch of bows, neolithic European, Native American--then got into all-wood laminated bows. I made a deflex-reflex working recurve bow from ash that came in lighter than I wanted at the time but was my sweetest shooter. I dug it out recently and after two rotator cuff operations it's just perfect--and it loves thumb draw and khatra and torque! Also, it is happy with a longer draw than I used to use--and picks up a few pounds. In fact, It shoots better than the fiberglass Tatar bow I got from Alibow. I loved making self bows, but my engineering and creative mind led me into the direction of laminated wood (no glass). I'm planning on building an Ipe deflex-reflex recurve soon, pushing the reflex a little further and modifying the recurve section a bit. It's fun to see how far I can push the performance envelope, using only wood, no horn, no sinew. Kind of like writing a sonnet--creativity within tight limits!

Very neat! I really like the Indian ones. Kind of funny, I never thought about the Koreans using bows, but they are still widely used in places like Mongolia. I had a fiberglass recurve I used to be pretty good with, but I haven't shot it in many years. I bought a compound, but the draw length was too long for me and I caught by beard in the string! That was it for me! Traded it off for a tent and went back to my rifles!

I am with you! I love short bows. This year I have been shooting the Arif Budiman Tiny Turkish Bow. She is about 33" strung. Shoots from either side. I shoot mostly Mediterranean but, dabble in thumb draw. These bows are small and not forgiving but, can be shot out of truck window. My main bow is 51 pounds at 26". In 5 days of our Texas Archery season I killed 3 dear. A doe at about 15 yards, an 8 point 17" wide at 45ish yards and a spike at 23ish yards. I love little bows Arif takes short to a whole new level. These bows with a 33" string will still draw 27" in the heavy bows and 28" in the light draws. With little to no stack and no finger pinch.

I have been using horse bows since I started a year and a half ago. Love a shorter bow. Simple khatra makes arrows fly so straight... I did not feel one side was easier than the other when starting and all my research suggested to shoot with both hands equally to avoid long term injury so I have been ambidextrous from the start... Favorite bow has been the Que Yue from AF archery, got some shock but inexpensive, I like the snappy draw, makes me want to kind of punch or fling the arrows at my target...

curve shot from war of the arrows twist thing is movie nonsense lol. but, BUT korean archery does describe their archery as “like wring a towel”. this pre-bends your arrow against your anchor point (cheek or your lips) and makes the arrow bounce to initiate the fishtailing. that, khatra, and how the string leaving off a thumb, you can shoot much higher spine arrow.
