of course not Nureyev but Jude. Even the costume is not exactly the same as Nureyev's (which was much more sexually enhanced). But very good dance nonetheless. That choreography of Nijnisky (Niżynski, as it was spelled originaly) is just out of this world, truly. Every time I have a chance to see it, is just stuns you.

this pas de deux is outrageous. Charles Jude is perfect with Pietra. You can see in the nymphs a sort of preview of the "Rival Tribes" in the Le Sacre du Printemps. I can not speak to the correct spelling of Nijinsky's name. I can only say I have never seen it before,

As per the previous comments, why on earth is this captioned "performed by Rudolf Nureyev" when the opening credits of the video clearly state "The Faun - Charles Jude"? ... Can't the video's uploader read? ... That caption is very misleading as well as being just plain wrong.

My experience with dance is extremely limited, but I must say that the combination of the very lyrical, free music (of which I am very familiar) with the jerking angularity of the dance is quite incongruous. Set and costume design is very fetching, however, if not perfectly germane to the setting of the Mallarme poem.

Rather than continue to berate the poster who gave us a very good quality video to watch I might add I'm going to agree with you that this is possibly the closest we will ever get to Nijinsky. . I don't believe no hurry I was even close to this and I have 10 to think it was later in his career I'll have to look it up. This is far superior to Nery Ave you got to watch them both just watch the scene where he controls the nip and brings her down to her knees just compare those two and you'll see what I'm talking about

Most definitely. I’ve read (not sure if it’s absolutely true) that on the night of the premier, Nijinsky laid down on the scarf and did a sexual act. It was scandalous at the time. I don’t think he did it in subsequent performances. I don’t think anyone was anticipating him doing that. I know it was portrayed that way in the Nijinsky movie with George de la Penna.

My experience with dance is extremely limited, but I must say that the combination of the very lyrical, free music (of which I am very familiar) with the jerking angularity of the dance is quite incongruous.
