Haven’t seen the whole series but there was another Ethiopian girl who did a wonderful job. She was thoughtful but also stood her ground. Wish I could remember her name.

loved how Ethiopia and India ganged up against UK. I think my favourite part of this debate is how johnny assumes education is something american/ european and can only be attained via western knowledge(it's part of the fact that he thinks everything british is the best and other countries need fixing to fit a british standard of what is acceptable)It's a fact that India was rich in scientific knowledge AND is one of the earliest regions to have educational insituitions. Although I am not flat out saying he is completely wrong, he made some good points.

Development in Science is agood thing but what is more important is for what purpose you use it? History of colonialism, and slavery is an example of how it shouldn't be used. Racism is also a adverse byproduct of colonialism.

Bizu and Nalini are too honest and pure for this program. Even the host was attempting to set them up with those questions, but they handled themselves gracefully.

As an indian, I’m very proud pf her. She was so articulate with her approach and well versed with the subject. It pained me to see how we shared the same pain with kenya and their struggle for freedom, and I’m glad she brought it up. Amazing video.

As some have pointed out, this was soon after India gained its independence from Britain so she was fully aware of the struggles of her nation. The British lad failed to mention that Britain was stealing a lot of the resources of their colonies than what they were putting back. They love to lay claim to building the railways as they did in India, but they were built to transport all the goods out of India. They forced the Indians to grow cotton instead of food and when Britain had a food crisis they shipped all the grain out of India to feed their people causing millions to die of famine in India. This British lad would have never imagined that the UK today is ruled by a Indian PM. The Ethiopia girl was very pretty and smart. Someone said she is a doctor in California. I had imagined her being a leader in her country. The Norwegian was out of luck, because Norway had not colonized any countries as far as I know.

@@williamdevonish4266 She must come from educated background to understand segregation or color I came 1975 I know nothing how the world is divided into color black, white yellow, We only know that I am Ethiopian that is my identity and then african so when they asked me if I am black I used to write no, I am Ethiopian, that I should not accept the name they gave me, I never see white people as white but pink is the color that we think not as identity. I never know about African been colonize or African to be sold to America, the first time I saw roots movie was shocking to me that is when I felt guilty and sad. Where I grew up no tv or no library. People used to ask me do you live with lions and tigers I used to answer them they are our transportation just to make fun I figure they also do not know Africa like my own ignorance so I never was offended.

I love how everyone speaks. So clearly, articulate, calmly. No one is squirming in their seats when they receive more uncomfortable questions. They listen before they speak, they pause, they don’t attack each other. These kinds of conversations make far more progress then some of these so called debates I see now.

Nalini Nair worked as Civil Servant for India to many countries for years and I came to know from another video from KZread with a photo that she has been settled somewhere in Trivandrum, Kerala India. Now she is 80 years.

They are heavily misinformed due to propaganda, what separates these Ethiopians and the brain-washed ones is having a true sense of pride that Ethiopians naturally have when western ideologies are not involved. This is also prevalent in Ethiopians who practice christianity, they seem to be extremely patriotic.

I am Ethiopian, I came from Ethiopia, all of my family is from Ethiopia and none of my community members say that. Ethiopians know they are Africans, they know they are black but what they REFUSE to be classified is by the negative racial stereotypes that people put unfairly onto black people, which is 100% fair and a good amount of black people refuse to identify by it too. They refuse to identify with the concepts of "illiteracy", "vandalism", " poverty", etc. Just because Ethiopians don't identify with those negative tropes does not mean they don't acknowledge the fact they are Africans. We are literally one of the oldest African nations and take pride in that. We also acknowledge we are fall into the black category in societies where other ethnicies exist (whites, Latinos, Asians, etc.). We just refuse to identify with the negativity that some people try to attach to that label. Edit: also, the Ethiopian community isn't a monolith. If you heard one or two Ethiopians saying something ridiculous, their opinion don't reflect the identify of the whole so please don't assume all of our identities by the opinions of the weird few😅

This is such a rich conversation and it's crazy to think that even then issues of now are still being discussed. Things never really change do they?

The fact they're all high schoolers is so shocking like they're all so well spoken and well informed on so many topics, I feel like most high schoolers now wouldn't be nearly as educated or articulate 😭

The Ethiopian girl had given an impressive remark, and being an independent nation had helped her to freely express her self as a young girl. She was also asking for the Kenyan independence at that time. She had given a substantial comments about the racism at the time, and she also given a good implication how the prejudice can affect others without their knowledge. Over all, all of them had a wonderful discussion.

My God the British and his arrogance! To see their understanding in our times is just mind blowing despite learning about this through history. And to even think that some still hold these understandings to this day!

He later speaks on the value of the native’s culture and should not be westernized. Meaning he’s aware that westernizations could jeopardize the native’s culture. He’s for integration, against racism and segregation. Some people just don’t have great listening skills, further impaired when they’re already biased. Which basically makes them only hear what they want to hear which is typically out of context things that appear to be negative.

@@ggJin let me waste my few seconds on a lost cause. Who the heck gave him the right to go to someone's land and dictate how things should be? They shouldn't be there in the first place. That is the issue not that he is for preserving the natives culture or all the other things you talk of. He is saying that the natives are illiterate and need to be educated to be on the same level with the white settlers, to be integrated. Who the heck does that and still try to find a meaning out of that? You go to someone's land, the land they have lived on for hundreds and thousands of years, take it and put them in a gated village where they are only allowed to leave and work on the farms they stole from them in the first place? You can't find any justification from what he says because the foundation comes from the thinking that we(whites)are better and they(natives/blacks) need our help to be better.

Our country is in a big trouble.the country that people get killed because of their ethnical-and beliefs background, and displaced from the place they lived for decades.we are just full of foolish pride without nothing. I think it's changing in my lifetime, i am proud of the unity I've seen so far and I'm excited to see more harmony among the raves and cultures on earth. I am very proud of our representative, an Ethiopian girl. She is so decent and humble to express her stands free of any inferiority. She knows well what independence is and tries to fight for other black peoples as her forefathers have been doing. This is the essence of being an Ethiopian.

I am very proud of the Ethiopian girl she is so intelligent and proud in her skin. I just watched the other debates but the young Ethiopian boys were not informed, when they said Amhara is better than other ethnic tribes in Ethiopia and we are the lost tribe of Israel. There is always the exception of intermingling but it does not reflect on the Ethiopian civilization. This is purely western propaganda in order to divide the tribes of Ethiopia to feel that they are superior to one another. That is exactly how our country will fall if we continue to believe in ideologies that come from thin air. @@ibrodinho Easy? are you dense or perhaps slow in the head. Ethiopia has been hit left and right throughout many years by nations with more military power and yet Ethiopia has never been colonized. The aftermath of these wars will inevitably have an adverse affect on Ethiopia. However, the blood-shed and the sacrifices made was worth it, because our independence is the main priority. We will continue to have our own alphabet, language, rich history etc. Selling out our country for mundane reasons is weak.

I like this conversation. They all had a chance to learn from each other. I think the boy from the UK doesn't quite understand what they are saying, though I understand his confusion being as that has been what he has been told since he was little. I think they brought up good points. I hope that the UK boy was able to learn more after this interview.

Great discussion, great points. Education is key, agriculture is life, blue collar is the strength of the people, white collar is it's organizational capacity. Everyone should be proud of their work, all a vital part of society, strive to be your best. We just got to come together.

They're using the word prejudice. But their debate is actually about oppression, lack of liberty, and inequality, based on darker peoples (racism).

I am so proud the beautiful Ethiopian girl and the Indian girl debates. I wonder where the Ethiopian, girl now. 🤔 I feel like to do a High school, .reunion for them and host the debates.😁 I hope and wish all of them are well also succeed in life. 🙏🇪🇷

The host obviously won’t be alive now. But they really SHOULD conduct a reunion with whoever is left from the student group!
