My neighbor was throwing away quite a few small ones of these. I planted them not knowing what they were. Cared for them with the rest of my plants, now asking myself, did I plant onions there? Now that I know what they are, I am very lucky I have at least 10 of these small ones growing.

I just got one of these last weekend and I am so excited to watch it grow! I watched your video to find out how much light to give it, and you have answered my question. Thank you!

Good to know about the benefits of this onion plant. I have one here. But didn’t know the truths of this plant. Thanks.

I've got several because of how easy they propagate. They are from one my mother had when I was little. Right now I have one with the leaves hanging over the top of my cubicle.

I am in the US. I was so fortunate to find one in a thrift store. It has had so many babies since. I still have yet to see it sold in stores where I am.

Just now found you while doing research on a Pregnant Onion (baby) that was gifted to me. Yes, lucky girl. Completely new to me although I have many succulents. Please tell me, should I keep it in a pot, or have you tried planting a baby outside? Also, my bulb is maybe half planted in soil (in a cup just temporarily). Should I un-bury the bottom half and help support it for awhile?? LOVED THE VIDEO. 👍

I have heard of these yet have never seen one until now and it does have the wow factor. If I ever come across one I will be sure to pick it up. I have an albuca spirealis so I know that they are relatively easy to care for. With the pregnant onion being in the same family does it need winter dormancy or does it grow all year round? Another great video, thanks.

No problem 😊 glad you enjoyed, I have never found mine to go into winter dormancy, but it is in a south facing window above a radiator, so that might be effecting that

I've had mine for 30 years and she has never shown me seasonal dormancy. She survived a period of extreme abuse/neglect when I fled my husband, she was completely dry and surrounded by cigarette smoke for several months. She shrank to about one fifth of her bulb size, but when I got her back, she recovered amazingly! She is my favorite plant.

What is the hanging plant behind you in the video? I thought it was a string of pearls or bananas but when I zoom in I don’t think so. What is it? It’s gorgeous.

@@Houseplantygoodness I place them between two stones to keep them upright. Also helps keep them from floating away when I water. Your onion is totally impressive! I'm going to try taking better care of mine. Yours inspired me!

I'm from California originally and have always had these plants. Now that I live in Vermont they don't grow as large here because of the climate. They are definitely NOT edible. Cheers!

You really can't get bractea, they are actually in the onion genome, just took their own toxic path, they are super cool and make lovely pets, they are hyper toxic to ingest so keep them from pets that are overly curious, lovely video Edit. The blooms do emit cadaverine to attract flies in small amounts, you really can't get these sobs for some reason, I treasure mine as long term investment, they seem much less resilient to damage then spiralis normally, which is funny because my spiralis died in a move while bractea held enough to live. They do fine in dirt. And honestly may be worth dividing up for sale , easy 20 bucks a pop if you own them thanks to rarity
