10000% you guys are right about raising kids (long term) in Denmark over Korea. Korean society is so hard on kids developing and growing, and I feel like it’s almost difficult to knowingly put your child through that stress when you have other options. Meanwhile, Danish teens generally end up very well rounded socially and mentally due to the open and supportive environment. The difference in your kids based on where they go to school would be drastic.

@@Henry-bh2hs but does this start at elementary school level already? Maybe it couldn't hurt to let them learn how to read and write in Korean before moving?... also I am sure there must be international schools in Seoul, too. Those are everywhere...

Denmark is a better country to live in anyways. Much more relaxed. If i had a choice between raising kids in Korea and Denmark, I would choose Denmark as well.

Someone mentioned apathasia or whatever it’s called at a party two days ago and that’s when I learned I can’t envision things. It’s VERY confusing at first I also wasn’t sure but then my friend said to me okay what color is the stem, and I’m like - what stem?? lol there was no stem no colors just an abstraction of an apple and maybe even an outline.
the aesthetics of Denmark is so dreamy ☁️🍃

@@johannacollins1130 I think it can go both ways tbh... sometimes I can see and feel everything that I am reading, but other times it's like my imagination is blocked. Also with certain things like food and drinks I can envision them quite clearly, but I always have a hard time picturing the faces of people... somehow I see them, but somehow this image is also inaccessible. But I know they are inside of me, because when I daydream, and remember, and when I dream at night I see everything very clearly...

I'm exactly the same. haha. My dreams are crazy. lol
I think as someone who grew up in my parents home country up until 5 years old and then moved to the USA… having your child live in Korea for their early years will help them retain a lot of cultural identity and language skills. My siblings were raised in the U.S. and didn’t travel to the motherland until 7/8 and the difference in fluency and other cultural customs are not as strong compared to my sister and I! Just thought I’d share

17:54 I know most of it is fictional but argh seeing those kids in dramas going to school from 7am to 10pm is honestly heartbreaking. Kids should live and have social lives, idk much about Denmark’s school system but im happy and hopefully everything goes well in the future. Pregnancy looks absolutely amazing on you 😍 so pretty and glowy. Also there’s a sense of calmness to you while you’re in denmark, love that for you 🧚♀️

@@sisselab same to you, dear Sissel! 🤍🙏🏼
Denmark really fits you, Sissel 🤍 The calm and peaceful vibe of the country is exactly what you bring to us as viewers. It's like Denmark is a reflection of you and what you've shown over the years. If you and Jake think Denmark is a safer and kinder place to live than Korea, then saying goodbye can be sad. But it usually means there’s a new hello waiting, even if it’s a bit down the road. Personally, I'm not here for the Korean content, if that happens to be one of your concerns. I can't speak for us all, of course, but the entire ambiance of your videos are truly what draws us in week after week. Whichever decision you guys make, will be the right one for sure.
In any of the country in the world, you actually got your answer. It is only when you and your family feel, like, "it is time and it is the moment to execute the plan ". Don't feel too pressured into "planning to move" take your time to plan what you guys really need for the future and just go with the flow like your doing right now, enjoy life and amazing food for the baby to feel safe and healthy. Just like the classic proverb says, "if there is a will, there is a way." Take care!
Such a delight listening to you speak and share bits and bobs of your time in Denmark ♥

I can totally understand wanting your kids to grow up in Denmark. I'm Norwegian, but my mum had me in the USA, and now it's been a nightmare since USA claims I still am American ( I'm not, been Norwegian since we came home at 3 years old ) Good thing you already have checked the laws in Denmark :)
I absolutely love your vibe Sissel, I always save your videos to watch them when I’m calm, becouse they are a staple for me, you are the only person on you tube that I follow religiously actually, seeing you going from the little apartment to being pregnant makes me so happy! You are truly amazing and such a genuine soul. I wish you all the best, sending you hugs 🫂💗
I love hearing you talk about the struggle between wanting to move earlier and stay in Korea. I too am debating on staying in Korea once I graduate from uni here and it’s so hard bc there’s so many pros and community here is so wonderful.
Denmark looks so beautiful! I’m 18 weeks pregnant with baby #3! Just recently found you and have absolutely loved your videos so far ❤
I love seeing you move near your mom & grandma as soon as possible!
It must be hard to have your heart between two countries. Of course it comes with benefits too, for you and your family. But it's something I could never do, leave my country to live elsewhere, not even for a month lol. I'm so attached to my roots and I think that is my path, but I admire your freedom and I am excited to witness how you transition into motherhood facing the challenges that come with it. You really are glowing with happiness and I it's lovely to see. Wishing you the best as always. ♥

I don't know much about Denmark but giving birth in Korea is phenomenal. The luxury post partum birth care facilities are amazing. Korea has also incentivised having babies; the government benefits are probably one of the best in the world because Korea is trying to boost the declining birth rate. I'd totally recommend staying in Korea until bub is a toddler, then move if you must.
@sisselab
14 күн бұрын
Absolutely not, sorry, but the hospitals (which are the only government supported places to give birth) and terrible and they only focus of getting baby out fast. The babies are also taken away from you after, no skin to skin most places and you can only give birth on your back which is not optimal at all. Post care centers are not something I want to use due to many reasons, they also are not free. Sorry, but korea is a terrible place to give birth 🥲💚
18 weeks pregnant here, having my dinner (fries) on the couch while hubby is enjoying a beer festival..I totally get your comment on food, I allow myself some naughty treats on occasion because why not 🤷🏻♀️ i feel already so much healthier now that I don’t drink alcohol, it saves a lot of calories 😅

Personally, I would raise my kids in somewhere like Denmark rather than Korea. I love Korea, and it's definitely a country I want to visit or study in, but I'm not sure if I would want to build a family there. It just seems that Korean society is very harsh on children and also parents in general. Korean society tends to be very competitive, and I feel like that's not the place I would want my kids to grow up in. I would definitely still teach them Korean and teach them about their culture, and let them decide if they want to go there when they're older.

I could read and imagine everything but I don't know if that's the case, but until I was 15 I could read and imagine the complete situation in my head, including the characters' voices. But, after I started reading more online via e-book, I can't imagine absolutely ANYTHING. Today, I'm 20 years, if you ask me to imagine an apple, you can be sure that I have the concept in my head but not the image. So, I completely understand you, Sissel.

But then what you said at the end of video how you had a heart to heart with Jake. I’m the same, I think raising children would be best in England (husband’s country/ slower pace) but all my family and support is back home in Texas. Which makes the pull harder for me. Enjoy Korea for while it lasts. Korea is very busy of course as opposed to Denmark but Korea also has good family value system. Kids are typically very respectful. However, Korea is very busy and technologically-advanced and for a young couple like you and Jake, I think you will miss the hustle and bustle of Korea if you move. Denmark is an amazing place to vacation in and to decompress but seems like your personalities are more of the Korean vibe. Knowing how you and Jake have good core values, am sure whether you decide to stay in Korea or anywhere else, you will be raising a good human being. 👍Good luck with everything, relax, enjoy your family while you are there. Stay safe🫶 Maria from Staten Island, New York🗽
Don't get me wrong but seeing her town and how she was raised for the first time kinda reminds me of how there are people out there who were actually raised in good, healthy environments. It's mind boggling to me, for real, I can't comprehend the gap between how my childhood was and how a person who was born in Denmark's childhood was even though I also work and live in Tokyo now and am in a happily good place. I personally would wish my parents to have me raised in Denmark over Seoul or Tokyo.
as someone who grew up early on in one country and then moved to another, I can tell you this and it applies to all four of my siblings as well. In early childhood, up till 8-9 most of the child's mental well-being and development comes from home more than the external environment so as long as they are in a school with a healthy child-conscious system (as in the system allows for creativity and not as rigid as traditional schools) and in a fun home with loving parents they very much grow up with confident happy personalities but after that age the external environment starts to have the bigger influence on their life and even more so in their teenage years, this is so evident in our younger sibling he lived the least in our motherland and has the least identification with our roots he does not really hold big affection and deep connection to it. for a child, a happy home is the best way to grow up regardless of where that house is. so don't stress out so much about "when" I'm pretty sure as the days go by and seeing your beautiful child grow you will naturally feel that the time has come.
Watching this reminds me again of how I want to visit Scadinavia someday. It's always been on my travel list but I've never got round to actually planning a trip over there. One day I will, for sure 😊
