(This is not meant to be rude/mean, I just like sharing knowledge)- 37 weeks is no longer considered "full term" by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The new definition of "full term" is actually considered 39+ weeks; 37-38 weeks is considered "early term". The only reason I know this is the definitions changed around the time I was due with my son. New data shows that although 37 week infants do well, babies born after 39 weeks do so much better, especially in terms of suckle reflex, temperature regulation, etc. But, then at 41 weeks fetal risk rises again. Again, not trying to be rude, mean, or "that" mom- I just work in healthcare and am constantly exposed to updated research and updated definitions.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm a nurse and worked in high risk OB for a few years. You're right, "full term" isn't until after 39 weeks now.

+Nicole Romney when my son was born the day I turned 37 weeks the hospital considered it full term. I didn't! He had trouble with his temperature and eating. He had to have preemie clothes too. I'm glad they changed that.

I had my fifth baby on Saturday and it wasn't until I was 37 weeks with him a few weeks ago, that I heard about the change. It was surprising but I definitely agree with the change.

As a school teacher, I will tell you that reading with and to your child is the single most important thing a parent can do. I teach children that have never read fairy tales or shared a book with their parents. These children are my lowest readers and lack imagination in their writing. So, read, read, read and read some more!! Good luck to you and your family. You guys are just so cute.

+Deborah Christi I couldn't agree more!!!! I have 2 grown children and I read to both of them nightly until they were in middle school!!! We took weekly trips to our local library and they both did very well in school, both are still readers and I believe that children that are read to have a much bigger vocabulary among many other attributes.

I'm so glad to see that parents and parents to be like Jen and Don understand the importance of reading T KB and Di Grenier, bravo to the both of you. People forget that we remain a strong nation by educating our children. This is how we remain a leading nation. But besides all of that, READING is a wonderful way to bond with a child.

+Deborah Christi We already read to her every night and look forward to continuing the tradition once she's born. I couldn't agree more! My Dad read to me every night as a child and I believe it played a big part in my enjoyment of reading as an older kid and an adult.

Jen is amazing at being gracious and cautious on the internet. I am always very impressed with how she speaks and makes sure to cover her bases with how she presents information as to not offend or upset anyone. It's awe inspiring and someone to look to for how to be a gracious woman.

I'm so happy for you! I can sense your excitement just growing and growing and growing. My question is about whether you will share a hospital bag prep video (going home outfits, etc) and also choices for other random baby accessories/necessities like a diaper bag, etc. Also will you plan to simply share on social media (not with a video) but just simple text on or around the day of your baby's birth?

  • @scrapgirl82

That hand-knit raspberry colored jumper is totally adorable! And the hospital gown will photograph so beautifully -- much nicer than the washed out colors of the regular hospital gowns! Jen, I don't know if you've been bombarded with labour/delivery stories yet. I remember that people loved to tell me their "worst-case-scenario" stuff. Don't listen to it! I don't know why women do that to each other. I expected a nightmare of a first-time delivery, and although you can't say it was a breeze, it sure wasn't the stuff nightmares are made of. (My labours were 5 hours and 3 hours, respectively! I didn't dare have a third or I wouldn't make it to the hospital in time, haha!) So my (unsolicited) advice is be prepared but don't waste energy expecting the worst. Wishing you a happy and healthy week! Keep on cookin'! ;)

I always left the parts of the pram/stroller we were using in my car. It saves finding a space in the house and if you need it out its as easy to take is from there as it is from the garage etc. It is hard to explain sometimes I understand that.....I assume the person asking if you will spoil baby girl was meaning with material things....The answer you gave was perfect....she will want for nothing. We are on a tight budget here but I try to make sure that my 3 children want for nothing whilst also ensuring that they realise they are lucky to have what they have. Have a wonderful 35th week

I love watching your updates because your pregnancy is the same time mine was. My sweet girl will turn 7 on January 8 and I can't believe it! I'm not sure this has been asked, but I wondered what features of yours you hope she has and what features of Don's you hope she has. One thing I did through my entire pregnancy was imagine what she would look like and I wondered what features she would have. It was fun having that mystery for a little while and they always are much more beautiful than you ever imagine! :-) Can't wait for you to experience the joys of parenting!

I absolutely love and agree with what you said about spoiling baby. You definitely cannot spoil them with love. My brother and I also never wanted for anything and got anything we wanted. But we were also taught not to be brats. Not to throw fits in the store, also if we got a gift for Christmas, birthday, or any occasion, even if we didn't like the gift we were always taught to say thank you and appreciate the gift. I'm hoping that our baby girl will learn the same way. She's 4 months old today and this has been the best 4 months of my life. I'm so excited for your baby girl to arrive, you'll feel feelings you've never felt before and are not able to feel until you become a parent. It's a truly wonderful thing. Best wishes to you, Don, Winnie and baby girl.

definitely see a difference this week.......I have 3 girls and you definitely can have too many books and too many stuffies. My advice to any new parent is to not buy TOO much stuff!!! Best toys I ever bought my girls were the Playmobil sets...they start out with bigger pieces and then get smaller but honestly my kids played creatively with those until they were double digits. They have many sets ......I took all the tiny parts and put them in plastic storage until they were able to play with them safely.

Jen, do you have any plans for taking baby on vacations/trips in the future? Possibly disney?

+Tayler Baxter I covered the Disney question awhile back...basically, we don't plan to take her to WDW until he's a bit older but it kind of depends on her personality. She will travel with us for family things next year for sure, but probably not until the summer.

I wouldn't keep a stroller in the garage. especially since you keep wood in there. I would be worried about spiders and bugs getting in the stroller.

Although some people may mean well, they may not realize asking if you are nervous about the delivery really doesn't help and can sometimes make you feel nervous. Don't let this affect you. Having a baby is a positive experience in all cases because you have a beautiful child in the end that you have brought into this world. As long as in the end you are healthy and your baby is healthy, that's all that matters! You can get through any challenges if they arise especially with a loving and supporting partner in tow. I wish you the most positive experience throughout the entire experience and look forward to meeting her when you are ready to introduce her to us! 😀

I agree with you. You can never spoil a child with love or books! My 18 month old has as many books as I do! I love buying her books and reading to her. I have a question now that you are closer to the end of your pregnancy and Baby Girl could come at any time. Are you planning on "kangaroo care" at the hospital? (Are you going to keep baby in the room with you and do skin-to-skin as soon as she's born)

Can't wait for you to experience the crazy love that happens, it's a funny thing that once you experience you want EVERYONE to feel it...I think that's why so many women nag other women about becoming mommies. When I had my first one, she was a little stranger for several weeks, didn't call her by name, just "the baby girl", but then it happened, perhaps slowly but wonderful joy that no one will ever be able to explain to you will happen to you and I am genuinely so very happy for you!!

Well said Jen love is all a baby needs and books to light their imagination. I hate seeing children who every time they see some one they expect a present. It's so easy to spoil a child without being aware of it most children are more interested in the box until they reach a certain age. A child's imagination is vast and a box can be anything from a boat to a castle. Jen your cute bump is still fairly high it should start to drop a little over the next couple of weeks which will ease your breathing. Your pregnancy vlog s have been the best ones I have ever seen and they cover such a wide expanse of pregnancy retaliated issues. I cannot wait to meet baby girl if she is anything like her Mummy she will have a beautiful soul.

    Hi Jenn! I've loved following your pregnancy! I had my baby girl at 35w 3d so 35 week videos are always fun for me to watch. (Not to worry, I had prior complications and even though she was a preemie she was 100% okay!) I can't wait to finish the pregnancy journey with you!! Does anyone know where I can find her PO Box address? I'd love to send a baby congrats card (;

Oh also I would like to offer a little bit of a suggestion...I would recommend having a plan B as far as when you get home and where you are going to sleep. I know it may sound crazy but you may honestly be to tired, have lack of strength, or you you may have had to have stitches as a result from delivery (which I did with my first) and I couldn't imagine having to walk up and down stairs especially not for the first few days to a week. Anyways it's just a thought :) I would for sure just have a plan B in case you can't make it up the stairs! :)
