    No it most certainly WAS NOT done correctly The butt joint had a huge gap in it and only had 6 nails Nor did I see Any screws in the field Thar joint is gona crack

    yep. Way to few screws. Unless they're using stud adhesive (idk never used it). My butt joints get way more screws, doesn't take any time and all get covered in tape.

    It appears that the carpenters installed the baseboard to hold the drywall to the wall seeing as the hangers ran out of screws. SMH

    Screws look super deep too, you'll see the joint in a few years. Ill gladly patch it, 500 minnimum 😊

    unless it's not a time-sensitive job you could use a two-part 15-minute dry time-filler. The reason for this is 20-minute Dura Bond at that thickness will take hours and hours to dry and it will shrink

    They are in a rush to finish projects that sat for years . Customers and builders always put the cart before the horse . I know a guy that pays for cheap labor then, He pays a guy 30 a hr to patch and paint work he paid the cheap guy to do . Thinks he saves money

    You have to be a big boy and explain extra time and increased costs. Be sure to put in writing what you've cost for so they cant play innocent and pay half as much as they should.

    Just get a can of kilz primer. You can even get the water based one. Just take 1 minute to spray the torn paper. It guarantees no bubbling or future problems down the road.

    If you remove all the blistered paper there's no reason to prime it. I'll show you this all done and it will no blister.

    Wood glue. Shellac BIN price creeping too high. Water based not a good idea on torn paper. You could get away with a more dry hot mud on torn paper but I don't like the risk.

    I remember houses built by craftsmanship that didnt need fillers, shims, leveling foam, etc...builders just got lazy and the products to support that followed.

    Looks like 2’ centers but glue or no glue you still want to press the drywall against the framing plus how the trimmer get in the base already in but manage to keep it off the wall the same gap ,it all seems sketchy but 20 min on prefill is right as long as you move fast me it’s 45 and a whole pan

    If you have to prefill a factory bevel joint, run your knife across the joint diagonally. It cleans the mud out of the bevel so that it still funtions as a bevelled joint, but it still fills the gaps to keep your tape from shrinking back too much

    I have no idea what I’m doing but was told once while trying to mud , that if brown paper is exposed somehow, we were to use this special sealant on brown paper before we mudded it, is this true?

    I have used Gypsolite/ brown coat with plaster of Paris added ( for quick set ) to effect the same type repairs

    Who knows? Could it be possible that the finish carpenter was there on time and the tapers are late? I have definitely run into that before, and have been told to roll with it, I have also been told to bill the GC and they will back charge the taper for it.

    You got to wipe that tighter you leave that 20 minute on there it will harden up and you will have a bad seam so when you refill you must wipe it very tight so it doesn't bother the tape and raise it up any higher keep on trying you'll get better

    Curious what causes the mud in nail or screw holes to bubble out when filling them? Wrong angle of the knife, mud thickness or consistency or something else? It seems like my screw holes always bubble up when I fill them.

    Fill them then take off mud with 2 swipes in opposite directions and they won't bubble up. Don't get any tips of a page like this

    @@mggahomes9721 I know it’s harder I’m 22 years deep in this dreadful trade . Almost 44 k hours taping . Easysand with mesh tape works . Nobody sands either because you cover it with mud . And if you don’t shave it down as it sets the stop marks won’t go away .

    Drywaller tip used 3M prime in patch. Then you could tape ride over at Noha bobbling no blistering no time lost

    I rarely have an issue with bubbling when using hot mud over something like that. All purpose, Plus 3, etc on the other hand will.

    U can throw tape right on top of that wet 20, than use tha rest a ur 20 nd get another coat on the face of ur tape.. When that dies u can go head n finish it with green or blue

    Keep a can of Roman Pro-999/Rx-35 on hand for torn paper. If you don’t treat them, they’ll blister. Don’t just mud torn paper.

    Before prefilling it you might want to finish screwing the board if you think there’s enough screws then you may want to go back and relearn how to hang Sheetrock

    @@keithduchnicki349 Because if you get any movement, the you get a crack. Then you've got to do it over after it's already textured and painted. Butting a few screws in is very little trouble. As you can see, they're on the light side. it's also wise to put some primer on that paper that's torn, so that it doesn't bubble unnecessarily. The few extra screws are easy to do. then to barely get by. If you're paid to do that, then you don't want to have to do it over.

    To thick of mud wont dry at bottom of patch. Like autobodý muď, 2-lite layers are stronger. Sheètrock wilĺ flex / no screws /patch will CRACK. Time to redo is $€$

    I like to use Easy Sand 20 - low shrinkage and dries hard. In a typical house it’s pre fill the whole where needed then turn around and start taping.
