Do not choose Bhopal over Pune, Kolkata, or Mohali.

As someone who has cracked ISI entrance test. An open challenge to all, crack ISI if you can. Questions are tougher than JEE Advance and NEST.

@@amitabhanand69 meine akele nhi kiya, mere sath aur 59 logo ne Kiya, ab class mein mushkil se 34 hai, reservation vale toh nikal gaye. Ab apni aukat dekhlo, mein seedha bolunga yeh ISI CMI avg students ke hath mein hi nahi hote, sad reality. Ab tum khud socho tum avg ho ya above average.

I don't know about other institutions, but I've graduated with a minor in Atmospheric Sciences from IISER Mohali and I got PhD offers from Cambridge, Surrey, Eastern Finland, Copenhagen, Basel. But at the end it depends on what do you wish to do in environmental sciences? If you're interested in air pollution then Mohali has the edge. Sedimentology is good too. GIS has relatively new faculty, environmental microbiology lab is respectable and climate data analysis and modelling lab is great. If you wish to specialize in any other niche then choose some other IISER. I'd say always choose an IISER which is closer to your home, and is located close to the city. Top 5 IISERs are all pretty decent.

Di... Anyway I'm not getting Bhopal IISEr, and i am intrested in chemistry, Iiser berhampur would work right...!!?? Cause its all about what u do in ur 5 years bsms...

CBS Mumbai is a damn good place to live. The education is top notch. However due to the limited number of students, the environment and flow of knowledge gets affected. However, no doubt it's one of the best college. However for Physics, life gets harder compared to other departments. One reason is limited no of money flow. So no PhD positions that open up are comparatively low. The easiest department is chemistry then Biology then Physics then Mathematics in terms of getting a PhD. Secondly the opening in PhD positions you will have is very job specific. For eg just in Quantum information there are multiple sub branches like causality, Self testing, linear and non linear inequalities, Quantum communication, quantum machine learning , Quantum algorithm, Quantum compiler, Quantum Optics,Quantum information in condensed matter fields. Each one is equally vast. Similarly, Quantum information in high energy and gravity. So finding a prof that align with your research is extremely hard and depends on luck. But being a Physicist is the best decision irrespective of the challenges. It's the most fruitful discipline of Science. And being able to learn Physics in the environment of iiser is a blessing. I can assure you that even after all these hardships, most people do not regret their decision to do Physics. That's the beauty of Physics. Best of luck.

Didi can you please guide me. I am confused. I got 98 percentile in jee and can get Bsc Msc integrated in top nit. But somehow despite having pcmb i crashed at iat exam and got 135 marks only. If cutoffs goes high i may only get lower iiser or none of them. Now should I not take admission in nit warangal and choose lower iiser if i get one for research. I heard that students in Berhampur are still studying in labs instead of classrooms?Is there a significant difference in courses and opportunities between nit and iisers?
