    Its a transition metal, so they generally have different ions (depending on which given one) In the question, he used Pb(NO3)2, tracing back on the criss-cross method, that shows that the lead (Pb)charge used in that reaction would be +2, If it was Pb(NO3)4 then the lead (Pb) charged used would be Pb+4 @@marlenegarcia6811 😀

    For 7:38 there are 2 NO3's so wouldn't you write Na2(NO3)2? Since (NO3)2 would have a -2 charge as there are two of them so it would require 2 NA's ?

  • @youtube_cws1969

    @youtube_cws1969

    2 жыл бұрын

    NO3 still has a -1 charge but there's two of them to match the 2+ charge of lead. When you combine Na and NO3 together they both have a -1 charge so it becomes NaNO3. Na2(NO3)2 is just reduced to NaNO3 since everything is divisible by 2.

    Douglas W Every element in a group has the same charge, you can calculate for the charge too by looking at the valence electrons, eg. Oxygen's valence electron would be 6 as 16-2-8, and you can see that it is missing 2 electrons for it to be stable, therefore it's charge would be -2.
