In an era when many people, including preachers, are wondering about the significance and place of preaching, Wycliffe College seeks to serve and equip church leaders by offering encouragement, training, and resources for preaching the good news in their contexts.
Fleming Rutledge, having spent twenty-two years in parish ministry, now has an international preaching and teaching vocation. Her most recent book, The Crucifixion: Understanding the Death of Jesus Christ (Eerdmans, 2015), has received praise from scholars as well as preachers. The Church Times said ‘The book is at once profound and preachable. A preacher will find material, and illustrations, for many sermons. Any Christian would find it uplifting, and academic theologians will see just how theology can best be put at the service of the wider Church.’ Her previous books have met with wide acclaim across denominational lines and national borders. She is also author of God Spoke to Abraham: Preaching from the Old Testament, and The Battle for Middle-earth: Tolkien's Divine Design in The Lord of the Rings, which has a fan base in Europe as well as the US.

Watching in 2024! And it's lent too. Holy week next week! Timing is great! My husband has been raving about Flemming Rutledge and the book for years. I have resisted because i felt i had all i needed for the time being. But yesterday I sought her out because i am re- evaluating, addressing what i actually believe versus what i thought i believed. . I have stopped to think anew about Jesus and thought she was a good solid place to start. I was right or rather, my husband was. This talk is really interesting and uplifting. Thanks for leaving her talk here for long enough that i get to hear her.
These two sessions are deeply transformative listening. Thanks for putting them up here - I will be recommending them to anyone with ears to listen, and reading the book!
