Thanks for this. I'm an (old) re-beginner. I had two tanks ready to paint (one with grey primer already on). I tried this method, and the reverse on the second tank (black on the light grey primer) - the method you show here turned out far better.

Thanks, I like to do multiple layers of shade and weathering, its nice to get the pre shade to do some of the heavy lifting. Hope u enjoy my channel.🙂

Great video. Do you take the 'guard' off the nozzle of the airbrush? I heard that helps to create a fine line?

Hi thanks for watching, taking the gusrd off and keeping the nozzle close to the kit do give finer lines. You still have to make sure the pressure and paint mix is right though.

I've had this kit collecting dust in the shelf, you've inspired me to get cracking! When you mention you fixed shovels and tools, can you elaborate on that? I've read this 70's kit has a few inaccuracies...

Hi I try to fix as much as possible to the final build. Makes the weathering look better. I will post the paint and weathering video soon. This help?

Love the technique, but I don't have an airbrush! Do you think you could get similar results with a paintbrush using an almost dry-brushing technique to build up the highlights?

Hi, I would post shade and highlight using oil paints, that would modulate the base colour. Its a little like when I do oil streaks. Dont forget you can lighten the base colour and paint tops of bolts, covers etc. hope this helps

Hi, usually around 10 to 15. The paint I used was quite thin.

@@ctscalemodellinguk Thank you! With acrylic paints, is it normal for the paint to dry on the tip of the needle even when diluted?

@@rllancapi it can happen, you may just have to keep wiping the tip or I know some use a flow improver/ retarder. Some paints worst than others. I find the ambient temp can affect it to. I have bad airbrush days still.
