Oh yes, life isn’t magazine perfect that’s for sure! But it happens nonetheless! Looking back, with my first birth, I too wish that I had listened to my gut a lot more. But I didn’t feel confident having not been through it before and not wanting to offend anyone (why do we do this?!) I didn’t advocate for myself early enough. Both times my pregnancies ran too long (my boys were comfortable where they were I guess!), but the first time I had to be induced and that was scary. With my second birth, I was much more confident and I spoke up for myself and my husband supported me 100%. I remember him saying to a nurse in the hospital “My wife isn’t going to do anything she doesn’t want to do.” The nurse was a little nonplussed with that! We were a real team the second time round and everything went so much better. Son #2 came along in his own time, (mad as hell and screaming blue murder) but healthy and strong and so was his mom!

Kudos to making a choice to change your medical provider. Be not guilty. Brewer's Diet has a natural way of reversing in case a woman has high blood sugar.

If you've given birth, what was it like in the lead-up?

I gave birth in France, It was "hyper medicalized" and it took approximately 70h from the moment my waters broke to the moment my baby was in my arms. She had to spend 1 week at the hospital because she had a little infection (not serious). And now, 10 years after, I'm pregnant in Iceland :) Total opposite, I had to wait 3 months for my first ultrasound and the blood test. It's nice that it's not so medicalized but during 3 months, I was sick and stressed... We'll see, this baby will be here in November. Thank you to share your experience.
