Hi Derek great video and very helpful, could you do a in-depth video of gas fires, not flow/spillage test , getting the covers off and hook eyelit set up. The fire gem visa/ Robinson Wiley are easy but others can be a pain to disconnect and remove fronts. 😀thanks again mate 👍

Brilliant, just what I was looking for. I have that exact type of flue/chimney. My house was built in 1983, and as you expertly mentioned, my walls are cracked from downstairs to upstairs, so I will have to have all the outside wall dot and dabbed! Looking in my loft, there is an angled metal flue, just like on your drawing, but the joint between the last flue block and the metal flue, is completely loose with no seal at all at either end or at the 45degree angle, it is all loose. What sort of cost are we looking at to replace the angled metal flue and to fit and fully seal. Thanks in anticipation.👍👍👍👍

Very interesting my plaster has cracked from the ceiling to the skirting board. And i also have a pre cast flue system which has been decommissioned before i got the property that information has only recently come to light. Could you please give me some information of how this issue can be rectified i would be extremely grateful.

Great video. Lots of information given in just 10 minutes on precast flues. Fantastic. I don’t quite get what you mean when you say ‘if the direction of the blocks change, the maximum angle it can be is 30degrees’ Why would the direction of the blocks change? The blocks/wall is built straight and level right.. (sorry, had to ask 😬) Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.

Great video - we have a house that was built around 1998 with a pre-cast flue system. However, the block in the loft is not connected to the ridge vent on our roof! Do you have any idea why this would be the case? I'm trying to contact the house builder (David Wilson) to discuss the issue.

I live in a house made in the 70s that has a precast flue but with a pretty old cement flue pipe in the loft that has 90 degree bends in it. It is currently unused though since we had the openning plastered over in around the very early 2010s or maybe late 2000s for an electric fire to go there. So far we’ve been though 3 electric fires because they break and we replace it as per the standards of throwaway society. If we ever chose to bring that flue back into service with a radiant fire on it provided the appliance PASSED the flue flow and spilliage tests would the old 90 bends still be allowed to stay abeit classed as the old “Not to current standards”?
