Once again Derek ,cant thank you enough for your time making these videos .Great knowledge and very well put to understand .Please keep going .Top man .
Great video on flue flow test Derek, you pick up something new every time you watch it.. 😂😂🤣🤣👍👍
Brilliantly demonstrated. Love the videos, keep up the good work.
Thank you Derek, your step by step tutoring has been very helpful in understanding the whole process.Hats off Sir.
Very informative videos, Derek. Great stuff.👍
Very useful thanks for explaining spillage test so much enjoyed keep getting well mr legend.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great videos, really helping me out for my ACS exams coming up!
Recert in a few days so good to refresh . Thanks Len.
very good Derek, just what I need before my ACS, watched many videos 👍👍👍😁
Well done Sir, you clearly received the same old school training as me ( with updates ! ) Same lingo, even the 'Snotters' I retired on 28 th Dec 2020 after 43 years in the Gas industry but always learned something new everyday. Incidentally, on the question of wether to tightness test or not on servicing, I used to have a saying.... "if you put the pipework under strain or stress then test"
Hi Derek, love your tutorials, im an ex pupil of yours from 20 years ago and made a good career thanks to your interesting and informative tutoring. Keep it up.

Marvellously illuminating to see a 5440 in action (from a baby heating engineer chewing on his ACS). Thanks Derek and Tomkat.

Excellent video, very useful information. Thanks Derek. Polish Peter - trainee at TomKat😃
Re-aligning the closure plate can be a pain when it has been moved umpteen times over the years. So what I do is before I remove it I get a straight edge and mark small pencil markson the wall either side of the closure plate - left and right - in line with the spigot opening, and the same with the vertical parts of the spigot opening, left and right - I mark the wall slightly in line with these. Then when it comes to putting the closute plate back on I have marks on the wall to help me position correctly.
Thanks for this vid.i have my gas renewal test coming up in February 😭.I dont see many of these fires about anymore And this was very helpful.👍

Great video Derek, watched a few times but it's so good for gaining experience and knowledge, I have a question, if in the chimney mortar fangs are showing, is that classed as NCS. If yes then why do we class it as NCS. Just a bit confused with that. If you can please elaborate your expertise on it, it will be appreciated. Thanks derek 👍👍

What is a flange? In my procedure it says turn off flange if it is connected to the chimney? 🤷🏻♂️
Where do you do a flue gas anerlasis test on these ?
Good vid, thanks. Bear in mind you have an accent so if you use the predictive txt please ammend it coz couldn't understand a few words. I had an experience when a gas fire was live due to bad wiring in the house so I always test for current first. What say ye?
Why did you test with and without he case?
Thank you
really good, one thing that could be explained better is how you go about checking full length of flue while holding the pellet rather then dropping it and completing the visual . still very good

Brilliant as usual. So you have a series where you do service on back boiler and fire? I am slightly concerned about the methodical approach to this., Its my understanding that I do an initial tightness test prior to removing the fire, then, well then I am slightly confused, there is so much discrepancy between engineers, some say to do a "mini tightness test at gas valve" and a final tightness test once back boiler has been serviced and everything replaced? Is there a video you have done on BBU service that clarifies this? Thanks

@@tomkatgastraining no worries I dont suppose you have the time, can't find one anywhere online.....hard to come by I guess
Can't you just purge by lighting the fire? So it is not work and you don't need to check for leaks? Cause if the volume of gas in the premises is over 0.02m³ but less than 0.035 you're anyway not allowed to do it through a loose fitting and you anyway need to use your appliance ignition system isn't it?
Question how can you go into the loft if you are holding the smoke pellet surely you would need to put it a the bottom? Please can you confirm..
@tomkatgastraining
Жыл бұрын
It take a while for the smoke to travel up the chimney but if the chimney is leaking in the loft you will see the smoke because it hangs around for ages so once the pellets have finished you the go around the house and loft looking for smoke.
Does anyone know a website to download free gas fire manuals?
I mark the closure plate before i take the tape off
Hi Derek as part of a service a flue flow test much be carried out on gas fire where do you carry out a flue flow test on a gas fire stove is it inside the stove itself as Ive looked at some MI and its not clear many thanks

Always always remember regulation 26.9. If you carry out checking the affectiveness of the flue. The supply of combustion air. Operating pressure & heat input & safe functions of the pipework and appliances. You as an engineer will sleep easy at night. Safety it critical there's no second chances. Remember once you're GSR you are the competent person. You don't want any comeback on yourself. Reg 26.9 isn't for quoting regs it's for peace of mind, stay safe ✌
