A friend of mine happened to be on a flight with her, and he mentioned how much of a fan he was of this movie (as am I). She responded how nice to be approached by a fan for movies other than what she's well known for. Every time I watch Prayers for Bobby it's like I'm watching it for the first time, and it brings me to tears every time. It's very cathartic.

It makes me mad. Whatever she felt about homosexuality is one thing but it's another thing when she chose to reject Bobby. She could of at least felt "Well I don't like the fact he's gay but I won't reject him. She could of also figured that maybe it couldn't be helped no matter what.

I Cried to this move as well cause I have a mother who is Very Catholic I thought she was going to kick me out, Was the hardest day of my life when I came out to her cause I would always cry inside cause I felt like I was letting her down, When I did told her I said to her at the end I understand if you want me out of the house. She was all like why would I want that? You are my son I love you for who you are Gay or Str8 I love you and God loves you if your gay so be it But there is no way I will let you go out of my life. I broke down right in front of her she Told me it will all be ok then she was all like hmmm I still want Grand children and we both laughed, :)

My dad passed away almost 9 years ago. He seemed like it never really mattered to him that much that I was gay. My mom was the worst. Over the Christmas holidays a month ago my mom told me that she believed God loved me, whether I am gay or straight she believes I am going to Heaven. What a change of heart. Its a miracle.

I find the most moving scene of the movie the scene where Mary, the mother, goes to the curch and finally realises, after all that has happend, that she felt her son was diffrent from the moment of conception and that there was nothing wrong with her son to begin with, because God intended it this way. She plays it so well and it touched my heart. I shed a tear :')

I feel very strongly about the respect of peoples gender, sexuality, and identity and this film was one of the many things that opened my eyes to the real world. I was once a kid who was also the son of church goer, and went to church every sunday but my mind was closed to the lgbtq community and I feel like that is just wrong and more people especially, regardless if they're religious need to respect and get along with the core values of many people who are very real.

When I hear of parents who shun, reject or cast out their kids because they are LGBTQ+, my heart breaks. Especially, since my parents accepted me the very day I came out. And not just me but my older brothers and younger sister. I was lucky to have had such an accepting and supportive family but it's sad that many LGBTQ+ youths are not so lucky. It's true that even if the world is against you, when you have a family that has your back, you are stronger and better equipped to face up to the bullying. I know I was.

OMG... this movie changed my life. My mom refused to accept the fact. My dad did as well. I was scorned and even had to move out for a while just until they could come to terms with it. But they didn't. It would be several years, not bad ones, but not close ones like we used to be, later before my mom called me up at 11 pm. I immediately thought something was terribly wrong. She was crying and I'm begging her to tell me why. She asks "Have you ever heard of the movie "Prayers For Bobby" on Lifetime?" I hadn't at the time, but she begged me to watch it. I bought the DVD and LOVE it. It wasn't until I watched it that I realized that was my moms way of accepting it. I can NOT get through the movie to this day without a full on UGLY CRY LOL. But THANK YOU to the every single person that brought this movie to the screen. It did do exactly what you wanted it to do, at least, for me and I will forever be grateful.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -- Steven Weinberg

With all due respect to Mr Weinberg, it's not religion that's the problem, it's man's misuse and misunderstanding (sometimes willfully) of religion. I say that as a gay Christian of 46 years to whom God means everything and whose faith is the central part of my life.

@@seamus1956 With all due respect LMFAO.. how do you misuse a passage in scripture that plainly says same-sex relationships are an abomination. Wake the fuck up already!
