    Jen, I was shocked when you described what kind of bread you like and then you said that Czech bread is different. I think that most of the Czech breads are moist inside and crunchy outside even in Albert or such as supermarket.

    Přesně, chápu to, když tohle řekne o Šumavě, ale existuje spousta jiných chlebů, které splňují tyhle požadavky…

    @@tatianabutkovicova9406 i dobrá Šumava je krupavá a je tam žitná mouka. V USA mají všude chleba krájení a v igelitu s příšerně dlouhou expirací, ;)

    Za války u nás v Plzni bydleli dva američtí vojáci. Mojí matce bylo tehdy 7 let a dostávala od nich žvýkačky, čokoládu a samozřejmě arašídové máslo. Strašně ji chutnalo ,celé roky mi o něm vyprávěla. A tak když se tu po roce 1989 začalo opět prodávat, hned si ho koupila, ale už ji nechutnalo. Snad tu dřívější chuť měla ve vzpomínkách spojenou s dětstvím, či s těmi dobrými vojáky co ji zahrnovali sladkostmi,nebo se také chutě mění, ale po té první porevoluční zkušenosti už jej nikdy nechtěla.

    I really don't think there's not enough thrift boutiques in Prague... I agree the very few traditional thrift shops are usually just garbage that was already picked out, but the problem is that the good stuff goes to overpriced high-end thrift boutiques like the one you showed and there's no more cheap second-hand items left. I don't agree that those boutiques are "affordable..." they're overpriced for used clothes and there's a million of them - not just in Prague. And peanut butter is certainly gaining more popularity in recent years... my favorite cheap peanut butter is the one they sell during "American week" in Lidl.

    Jen, a loaf of bread called "german rye" with caraway seeds, costs in Western Australia $10!!!! And, it's not always available. Growing up in Czechia, I still miss any of their freshly baked bread!!! So, be grateful for what you can buy.😊

    I have also moved recently from the UK to Czech and sharing my experience, so far loving this place but of course coming across some challenges. Now off to watch your videos on Czech beer. Also with you in regards to being spoken too in Czech, not with my one word I know but I am learning.

    Hele lidi, to je celkem logické, že kváskový chléb z pekárny v SF bude asi lepší, než průmyslový "chléb konzumní" z Burešova korporátu, tak se hned nemusíte rozčilovat 😊

    Dear Jan, have you ever been to Trutnov? I just went and I saw several.types of bread which closely resemble SF. Sourdough,which I know well. I saw it in Hradec Kralove too. I'm surprised it's so hard to find in Prague...

    my favorite sweet spread is the on from Lotus, but it has even more sugar than nutella :D

    For nut butters, Vilgain has a great variety of them and also all kinds of nuts and other interesting stuff.

    Great stuff, I know most of the products and places mentioned. In "our" neighborhood of Vinohrady I also like BeSilly Belgian pub, Coffee Corner Bakery and the small shop by the tram stop Šumavská selling freshly roasted coffee beans. Oh and the ice cream shop Creme De La Creme on Francouzská street. BTW I'm currently looking for a new place to rent in the area since my landlady needs the apartment for her family. And honestly, I start loosing hope. Most of the rentals are super pricey :-(

    As far as I know, at least one European country does do peanut butter - I believe the Dutch like it, it's called pindakaas there, and I've actually seen Dutch peanut butter in Czech shops too.

    My husband and I are moving to Prague this summer. We are trying to decide what to bring with us and what to buy there. As an expat, what are the best items to buy in country? What is impossible to find that we should bring? Also, what does online shopping look like in the Czech republic? Is Amazon possible? Or is there something like Amazon that's better in the Czechia?

    Ten chléb je asi jiný než co znám já. My zde v Čechách máme krásně křupavý chléb s tvrdou kůrkou, tak nevím, kde jsi tak špatný koupila :-( Když nenajdeš ten pravý, pošlu Ti recept na pravý domácí chléb od mých předků. Peče se doma v troubě. Ne v těch přístrojích na chléb, ale v obyčejné troubě.

    Sekáč is a quite new word in Czech; the other and older name for it is frc - one of those Czech words "without a vowel". 🙂

    On contrary, "sekáč" is quite old word, just with new meaning. Sekáč also means Old man with a scythe, Death and a bug family name

    Praktika is also in Letna, not just Vinohrady and Karlin. Have you ever tried bread from Eska?

    I have probably watched every video on this channel for the past 5 years I got a real question I would like some help please. Let's say I get into Prague late dinner time and I know what trains and buses I need to take and I know I have a long four hour train ride to my final destination. so decided itd best for me to spend the night in a hotel I would like it to be near the train station in the city center so that I am ready to go in the morning. can someone please recommend accommodations, a place I should check out. Jen and Honza I'm hoping to hear from you more than anyone because I respect your opinions verry much. Thanks! :)

    Juicy Lucy is first great NEIPA, one of my favorites. But I found Neon from Volt brewery slightly better:)

    Ten chleb z Frisca vypadal velice slušně,ale vše je relativní,myslel jsem,že Plzeň 12 z tanku je nejlepší pivo na světě. No jenom do chvíle než ochutnáš to lepší.

    I don't mean to be negative. I just still cannot understand how anyone is willing to pay those prices for those beers (9:17), when they can get a dvanáctka for 42 CZK and a nice ALE for 60 CZK literally three blocks away, even nearer to Muzeum. 😀 (OK, I will share my secrets. Mechanický balet. But there are many pubs with "local's" prices all around. 🙂)

    Sorry Jane, but comparing any American bread or pastry with Czech really crispy sourdough bread, French or Italian baguette is like comparing a Russian car with a Mercedes.

    Oblíbené věci v Praze, ale ne pro turisty. Nicméně cenovka ovocné taštičky, která se mihne v 1:34 je vysloveně turistická.

    Já zase koukám na konkurenční pořad zde na KZread nazvaný U nás v USA (nebo U nás doma v USA). Mladá česká rodina z Plzeňska zije cca 10 let na vesnici ve státě Georgie. Velmi zajimave o životě v USA.

    I would not dare to say that Europeans are not into peanut butter. Have you been in Netherlands? The Dutch would strongly disagree with your statement - they are all about Pindakaas! 😉

    I would recommend a train ticket office at Hlavní nádraží. You can buy your ticket to get out of Prague. See the rest of the republic. It has so many interesting places to offer (and often for much better prices too).

    @@robinsebelova7103 No a co bude v takovém městě dělat? Jednak bude mít problém sehnat si tam práci a jednak tam asi nepotká moc svých krajanů. Vždyť například i většina Čechoameričanů žije jen v několika lokalitách v USA, a proto tam mají své komunity.

    2:30 Pokud budu brát v úvahu, že Turecko je součástí Evropy i Asie, tak je trochu mimo mísu tvrdit, že Evropa není oříškový kontinent. Podle údajů FAO z roku 2019 jen Turecko uspokojuje 70 procent světové potřeby lískových ořechů. Jednou jsem dostal oblečení. Říkám si dobrá, do práce to bude ok. Jenže i do té práce jsem to nenosil a oblečení vyhodil. I sako ušité na míru za 20 Tisíc, jsem nakonec vyhodil. Necítím se dobře v oblečení, které nosil někdo jiný a o botech už ani nemluvím.

    I never heard that European bread is worse than the American. The opposite is true. American bread is as soft as toilet tissue with virtually no crust and no taste. In Central Europe there are plenty of bread types, one better than the other. So you really must be kidding by praising the American bread. Maybe some San Franciscan hipster bread comes close to European taste and quality but it will cost you an arm and a leg compared to the prices here.

    Když jedu jako turista do cizí země, tak ji nechci kolonizovat a chtít, aby tam byl český chleba, české pivo , moravská slivovice...To mohu zůstat doma a pouštět si v televizí cestopisy.😂😂
