    Seems a simpler version of our Module 1 in the UK, which is: The test normally takes about 20 minutes and includes: 'wheeling the moped or motorcycle and using the stand riding a slalom and figure of 8 a slow ride a U-turn cornering and a controlled stop cornering and an emergency stop cornering and hazard avoidance For the hazard avoidance and emergency stop exercises you must ride at a minimum speed of: 19 mph on a moped 31 mph on a motorcycle'

    Good luck for Friday, you will do well I'm sure. Head check head check head check !!!!! And breathe, as soon as the instructor says commence take some deep breaths, visualize what you need to do breathe again and head check and go !!!! Also don't beat yourself up if you don't get a section right-breath again, you can accrue a few points and a pass is a pass !!! That's the best advice I can give 💜💙

    The three most important things of the M.O.S.T are: 1) Head check 2) Head check3) Head check Everything else is cake. But not doing head checks is just giving up points for nothing. Even if you think you don't need to do one, do one. And apparently not everywhere will say it, but the road ride you go on, you can't lose points there. I ride a cruiser, & unbeknownst practiced on a u-turn box that was about a metre tighter than the test one. Couldn't get it consistentently so hired one of their bikes because I'd spooked myself. As long as you know how to drag the back brake, on that bike the test was stupidly easy. Then I tried the u-turn in the full size box on my bike after, did it easy. Could have saved myself some coin lol

    Yeah I hear you on the head check. Will be giving myself a sore neck by the end of the day I'm sure. I am pretty confident I can nail the U-turn and have been able to do it fairly consistently without screwing it up. Just hoping by the end of the day when it comes to crunch time the nerves don't get the better of me.

    Why use ur rear brake doing a u turn

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    3 жыл бұрын

    High revs and pressure on the back brake help keep the bike stable at slower speeds. If you keep the revs up you can easily control the speed of the bike with the back brake which will prevent you from dropping it.

    Sure you'll do just fine mate, good luck. Small tip if you're struggling with the U-Turn, try to lean the bike but keep your body upright, or even leaned away from the turn. It helps to keep the centre of gravity over the wheels, and stops the bike falling into the turn so much. Obviously doesn't work for turns at normal road speeds though. Let us know how you get on :)

    Thanks mate, I reckon I'll go alright. That advise about the U-turn is exactly what I've been doing. Just every now and then I let the speed drop a little too much and my balance goes off. But for the most part it's been working out alright. Cheers!

    thank you so much for making this video, I'm working towards my motorcycle endorsement I have u-turns down without a doubt but the only problem I have is test anxiety, I have a good sense of situational awareness but shifting down through All the gears will definitely be something ill have to work on. Am I timed for time it took to stop and also do the m. licensing go against rev matching for downshifts?

    +benson420710 I'm not sure where you're from so you'll need to look up the requirements in your area but here in NSW Australia it's really a very simply 8 minute test. If you can do the tight turns and remember to do your head checks you're pretty much home and hosed. Provided you don't drop the bike or stall. Best of luck on your journey. You won't regret it.

    Here in NSW, Australia you are required to do the pre-provisional course and MOST as part of the licensing scheme. So I'll be doing this tomorrow and by the end of it, if all goes well I'll no longer be a learner rider. Instead I'll have a provisional license, which really has all the same restrictions as a learner, but I get to attach a P to my bike instead of a L lol

  • @celsydney

    Hey, just subbed. I noticed you have your phone mounted on the bike, though you're not supposed to use it, right?

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    +celsydney correct. On your L's or P's you should not be using it at all while driving/riding unless you're safely parked away from traffic. Though as far as I understand having it mounted doesn't constitute use. Of course I could be wrong.

    Hey, as far as I know that attaching a camera to your helmet is illegal in NSW. also the Bluetooth while L or Pdid they mention any of that to you during the test?

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    6 жыл бұрын

    +bushbush2000 it's more of a grey area where attaching cameras is concerned. It's not particularly illegal, but it depends on the attending officers interpretation of the law which states that structural modifications cannot be made to the helmet. The MCNSW is campaigning to have helmet cams made officially legal. As for Bluetooth that is true for novice riders/drivers.

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    6 жыл бұрын

    +Sascha Jade don't be nervous at all. The learners course is a piece of cake. All you need to do is as instructed and not drop the bike. You won't have any issues. If you've practiced the knowledge test using the RMS' online practice tests and are consistently getting a pass you'll find that same thing happening on the day you do yours. Best of luck mate, you got this! 👊

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    Yep I sure did. If you're considering the same I would definitely get a lot of practice in and get the cone weave and U turn down pat. Using a heavy bike in the MOST is taking a risk but certainly not impossible to come out successful.

  • @thevelointhevale1132

    @thevelointhevale1132

    Thanks mate, yes I plan to buy a XVS-650 and of course would aim to do the MOST with that bike - I noticed with interest that you seem to have done it with success and I'd like to think I can also. Of course lots of practice is going to be required as you say - worst case hire a 125 on the day but I'm hoping I can nail it with time in. Any suggestions or advice welcome ... NSW rider here too.

  • @PhatCruiser

    @PhatCruiser

    +The Velo In The Vale best advise I can give you is to practice a whole lot. Remember your head checks. If you can, map out the course like I did in an empty car park, paying special attention to how the cones are placed for the weave. In the slow turn manoeuvres drag with lots of back break and a fair amount of throttle. Then.... again, remember your head checks. On the day, keep calm. Take a nice deep breath before you have your crack at it and remember your head checks lol.

  • @PhatCruiser

    +Simba Mtg technically the rule states that novice drivers/riders are not permitted to "use" a mobile phone. While I did have it mounted on the bars I figured it would only be an issue if I actually spent time looking at the screen or if I had it connected via Bluetooth and took calls while riding. Don't rely on my word on that though. Not an issue for me anymore anyway since I now have an unrestricted license.
