Practice Persistent Prayer | Luke 18 | Gary Hamrick

2/13/2022
Sometimes when we pray we don’t always get WHAT we want, WHEN we want it. Nevertheless, Jesus encourages us to keep on praying and to not become discouraged. He teaches a parable about a widow who continually appealed to a judge for justice until the judge finally granted her wish. The point of the parable is this-if a cold-hearted judge can give a poor widow what she needs, how much more will our warm-hearted Father give to His children what we need! Join Pastor Gary for today’s teaching about the importance of persistent prayer.
00:00 - Welcome
00:42 - Introduction
16:48 - Why don’t we always get what we want when we want it from God?
17:01 - 1) It’s not His will
20:51 - 2) It’s not His timing
24:53 - 3) It’s not His best
28:36 - Chart of contrast between the widow and believers
29:11 - Prayer is communing and connecting with God

Praying is worshiping. Praying is communicating to God. Praying is acknowledging God's sovereignty over me/us. Praying is appreciating the presence of God. Praying is adoring the Creator who created me/us. And many more...

Wow! I see this was 2 yrs ago. But the Lord sent this to me just now. June 2024. This week I sent a message asking about praying God's will or not. I sent to your office this week. God sent your message to me! Thank you! For years I have ask the Lord for a gift. Now, at 80, He has given me that gift. To be a prayer Warrior. But I needed to know about Praying in His will. What if my prayer is not His will! I always ask Jesus to take my prayers and make them to His will. If the prayer isn't answered I think I did something wrong. Thank you for reposting this message. That helps me to keeping as I do. I love the Lord, with all my heart. My favorite verses , from a teenager, Prov. 3:5-7 (8). I will keep praying until I get an answer. Then I will know what His will is!

Matthew 10:16-22 16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Great sermon. I only wonder about persistence in prayer leading us to understand when something in NOT God's will. How does that happen? Seems that if the answer does not come, we could easily conclude it wasn't God's will, but that is the point of perseverance when the answer does not come, right?

Proverbs 3:5-6 [5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. [6] In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. If God isn't answering your prayers then it could be your asking for the wrong things or it's not Gods best for you or its not Gods will. As Pastor says, We got to pray in line with Gods will. Surrender ...

Why do you consistently pick on those of us of the Catholic faith??????? Is this something a faith-filled person would do, let alone a Pastor? So disrespectful!😥 Our *posture* at Mass is nothing more than a sign of respect and reverence, the same as when people raise their arms in the air during their church service. Are you telling me the Holy Spirit was wrong when he drew me to this faith & place? I have watched your bible study on KZread for several years, but you are breaking my heart with these attacks on my faith 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Sister, some denomination isn't superior than the truth of God, if we truly in faith we would know Jesus is our only mediator. Not Mary. Not saints. No statues should be tolerated in church. No rosary should be touched. Why do we need these pagan ways.
