Is he the ONLY guy in the Major Leagues who actually talks about how he hits a baseball? He seems like a great guy to me. He appears to care about helping kids learn how to hit, I've seen a video of him sharing his ideas on hitting with all his teammates, and he also must be aware that young players around the league probably watch his videos. Comraderie among teammates is the primary bond in baseball, but I believe there is also a comraderie among hitters that Donaldson seems quite happy to unashamedly acknowledge.

Honestly, he's the only guy ive seen break down his swing on the high inside fastball and actually use the exact same swing in game ... where other players.. it's not 1:1.. i think Donaldson is a 'craftsman' of his swing like pitchers are with their pitches.. #20 earns his money !

Not many actually understand their swing like this, they'll describe in slow motion something completely different than their real in game swing. That's the thing with Donaldson. That is how he swings a bat. That's actually a really rare thing in professional sports in general. Tom House made this hierarchy of athletes where they go from unconsciously incompetent to consciously incompetent to unconsciously competent and consciously competent. It's basically four different kinds of athletes or stages of athletes. He says that like 95-99% of professional athletes are unconsciously competent, and couldn't actually describe what makes themselves elite on a biomechanical level, even in their sports' jargon.

@@noahmcdaniel4920 House, I suspect, believed that unconscious competence was the highest stage and that most athletes spend little, if any, time at the second highest stage, conscious competence. Am I wrong?

BEAST. LOVE watching him play and his knowledge on hitting. I wish Braves could keep him but he will probably seek a bigger contract than they will give him. He's having just as good of a year as Manny Machado right now and other top paid guys.

As a Blue Jays Fan, let me tell you that I think you shouldn't underestimate the great professional relationship that JD has with Alex Anthopoulos. Wherever the two of them have been in the same organization, JD has flourished. Plus Atlanta have a good-to-great team that are WS Contenders. If I had to guess, given his age they will offer him a 1 Year Plus a Team Option for another. Or 2 & 1.

He's solidified 3rd base and provided protection for Freeman. He's great to the fans and tosses baseball's into the stands almost every half inning. Great addition, absolutely deserves a 3 year contract with us.

Hitting is totally crazy and every one thinks of it differently. Because this is not what Mike Trout and Alex and Bonds saying about hitting. They’re saying coming down level to the ball.. so what should one believe or teach the kids with so many ways and style to get from point A to point B. I really believe that one should stay with whatever works and if is not broken don’t fix it..
