His pressing strength is just unreal. Such speed and power on the bench and putting the bar overhead.
i love how everything is so calculated and set to win!
No wonder he made history as an atlethe. He trained wonderfully! he seems so concentrated and diciplined... love it!
Gunthor would have made an incredible Olympic super heavyweight weightlifter. He's the same height as Salimi. I've never seen any athlete throw massive weight about with such disdain and ease.

Perhaps. Geoff Capes made the successful transition from shot put
@vatonaught They will. Although they might be more specific, those are plyometric exercises for agility and rate of force development.
he's built like a god
where the crossfitters are? This is the real deal.

Most crossfitters are too busy trying to get reebok endorsement deals, suck off closeted pharmacist for high quality PEDs while all playing the "I'm all natural and using performance enhancing drugs to be the best at your sport aka your job aka what keeps you from being homeless lol is "cheating".
He also competed in the bobsled =)
@jakebrigand probably more because on all video this black disk are 25kg its just amazing
Sure would be nice to catch the bar that high on a 190 or so power clean.
4:19 I was like, "NOO FUCKING WAY!"
Back in the dark ages when I was a thrower, we knew nothing about these training techniques, nor did my schools have most of this equipment. Oh, well. Next life?
That’s a lot of ballistic, high impact exercise. I wonder what his joints are like today, at 63 ?
Gunthor était un lançeur exceptionnel ; la Suisse aura du mal à retrouver un athlète de cette qualité .
They seem to have endless resources.
@vatonaught Witch one?
incredible atlethe
C est curieux mis à part ces qualités physiques, aucun commentaire sur la notion de dopage !
6:18 Randy Barnes the world record holder on the left.
I do love a troll. Nice work.

Yeah, just imagine if he used his legs on them "presses"
he is so big that when he holds tenis racket it looks like hes playing badminton..
4:09 lmfao
he pwns his trainer :D
Well, we all know today that press behind the neck is not a good idea,
I will bet you a lot of money that no power lifter (who is not an actual thrower) who benches 1000lbs (or 800 or 900) can NOT beat an elite shotputter or discus thrower. You really do not understand what being an athlete is.

Beat them in what? Do you mean all round athleticism?? Throwers are excellent athletes. I have competed for many years in powerlifting. I have not benched anywhere near those numbers, but I have deadlifted close to 800. I can run jump and compete in other power sports like judo. Its the individual, not the sport.
You don't understand the mechanics of any of those exercises, then.
Ornamentation, now thats a good definition of what Werner is doing. I bet he does that shit because he has to spend a certain amount of time training and bench presses and cleans only use up a little of that time. Oh, and curls, he probably spends at least an hour doing that specific lift. I saw a video of the Big O throwing puds once, what a waste of time, plus he was smoking when he was doing it, what a loser.
IMAGINE THIS GUY DOING MMA :d
naaa they cant throw .............
Old shot putter used to be l an now they fat
Yeah, I agree, why throw things? I mean come on, he's a thrower so throwers need to be as strong as possible in weightlifting. In fact why ever practice throwing, just lift. I am sure there is an exact correlation between bench pressing and how far your gonna throw the shot in competition. I bet those modern power lifters who bench a 1000 lbs could probably throw like 80 ft. easy. Especially with one of those cool bench press shirts. Can you wear one in track competitions?

I hope your joking
Oh come on, especially if they wore a bench press shirt. Just cock the arm back and jam the shot under the chin. Wouldn't need much of a glide or a spin, just get to the front of the circle and bang, its gone. Legs are over-rated in throwing anyway, they just make you foul. You could be a really short guy too and throw 25m+. Maybe wearing a supersuit would help too. Them elite athletes don't seem to be too creative, bench pressing is where its at man.
