Dude! I had to look this up. I love legends like this. I say “legend” but it’s actual French history. And as I was doing this it clicked in my head that the last Wolfman move with Anthony Hopkins made a reference to the Beast of Gevaudan.

No. If anything the Brotherhood of the Wolf played heavily off the French legend of The Beast of Gevaudan.

@@psychobeam99 That's not what the guy meant. Of course the French Beast from the 18th century was the original, while the movie BotW is a more mystical and fantastical retelling of events. But this song itself is fantastical (calling the Beast a half wolf, half machine entity that came for revenge on a divine mission), thus it's fictionalized much like the movie.

I made a whole boss who's the prophet of a whole religion for my campaign based around this song

I know the actual inspiration was the werewolf of Gevaudan, but this song actually really encapsulates what St. Michael stands for as well ❤

This song is rather Protestant in a very strange way talking about a beast sent to kill the French Catholics, I know thats not what this song is about ,( I think ) just an observation.

As a Jividen the lyrics are great, but I felt the song could've been heavier. A little light in the loafers for me. We Jividen's deserve a brutal crushing song.

Why is Le Bête du Gévaudan not a Demon in SMT?

Your lyrics said, that the Beast of Gevaudan was sent from Heaven to wipe out the enemies of God. In reality, that Beast killed mostly women and children, the poorest of the poor. So these poor souls are the "enemies of god"? Really, Powerwolf, really? I did some research about the Beast of Gevaudan this year, and I learned, that the people of the Lozere, the part of France, where this killing spree happend from 1764 until 1767, belief, that the Beast of Gevaudan was a man trained predator indeed. So, where is your God, Powerwolf?

@@user-rz9kl3iu9x and I "spiced up" just my comment... A "dark phantasy setting" is one thing, the cruel reality of those days was completely different. If they want to remember the victims, they should have done this in a more Sabaton style, like the swedish guys have done with The Last Stand or the Attack of the death men for instance. Otherwise it has been wiser for them, to keep silent.

​​@@thomasthetigeryou do understand that Satan exists too right? God's not the only one who does this and that, sometimes it's Satan not God. Whenever God does something it is just and righteous. Satan does things just because he can and because of hate. You might say then why did God kill Egyptians in Exodus, because God was just in this and had good reason. The blood of Egypt was on Ramses hands not God's. Not only that but God gave Ramses an ultimatum, he had a choice, Ramses chose to disobey so this led to that.

@@reydo17 I don't get the point of your statement but pri·or2 /ˈprī(ə)r/ noun a man who is head of a house or group of houses of certain religious orders. the head of a house of friars. fri·ar /ˈfrī(ə)r/ noun a member of any of certain religious orders of men. they have similar definitions but friar would be more appropriate to this song.
