That Ring camera video of the trees being pulled down and broken was unbelievable. The power of tornadoes is amazing. 😳

Wow a lot a people got a good Michigander at that tornader! But in all seriousness hope nobody was hurt. Looks like a beautiful place with all those picturesque views of front porches and yards. And oh my those poor beautiful trees 😢
You can hear the fear in the breath of the person at 3:10. They get it. I’m so sorry to the people of Portage MI who appear to have been hit very hard by this!
Thank you for showing the videos such good videos from everyone prayers to everyone in Portage Michigan
Tornadoes of this power are rarely seen in Michigan, but aren’t without precedent. There’s the 1953 Flint F5, the 1956 Standale F5, the 1965 Walker F4, and the 1980 Kalamazoo F3 to name a few.

1997 Detroit/Hamtramck. F3 outbreak. Much of my neighborhood was destroyed. I remember it like yesterday. I was at work which was only about 15 min drive away. It took about 4 hours for me to get home having no idea if I had a home to go to or if my roommate and our pets were alive and or ok. Luckily, our flat/apt was spared and had very little damage while much of our street was gone. Cell phones and cameras weren't in everyone's hands like they are now.

Great shots of some Big Ones, thanks to some talented local photographers, Glad you stayed safe.

All the tree go down but that flag manages to hang on

I hope everyone is staying safe after witnessing these incredible displays of nature's power. Have you ever experienced a natural disaster up close?

I saw a tornado and I was scared, but luckily, my whole family survived. I think I almost peed myself😨
I live there and lemme say it was an experience for sure
The tornadoes are looking stranger than I’ve usually witnessed

Epic tornado videos
Seeing videos of tornados on the internet before this, I thought "I couldn't imagine what that would be like" Now having been through it in Portage, MI... I wish I didn't know. Seeing my neighborhood torn to shreds was absolutely surreal. Then ANOTHER tornado touched down not even an hour after the first, not far from the first one. It was horrifying.
I noticed my old house survived next to the trailer park ( Pavilion estates) that was all torn up.
How strong were the winds in the last clip? Looked like 100-120+ mph
It's amazing how they can video what's going on. Amazing
If we ever have a big tornado in Dickinson, TX, wherever it hits, the people would need a miracle to live. Very few, if anyone at all, have storm shelters!

Wow, starting at about 2:37, those trees just start going over like some invisible giant is stepping on them!
Some great footage once again!! Either people dont know its there or they are all crazy thinking this isnt a serious situation. Everyone out on the road just driving on by a monster tornado like that is insane. I wasnt impressed with the "damage sight seeing" afterwards tho

Mother nature aint playing this year. Shes pissed for what we do to her
Remember most tornadoes are traveling Northeast so to get away from them go southwest. Another interesting thing is flags at night especially when you're having a hard time seeing them will be pointing directly at the oncoming tornado

Crazy how the big trees were sucked down (7:38>) and those little flowerpots just sat there.
@Nonconformistwilderbeastman

The wind velocity on the ground compared to the tree tops is a big difference, that's why if you're caught in the open of a approaching tornado instead of panicking and trying to run away it's best to just stop, stay calm and lie flat on your stomach and try to cover your head best way possible, chances are the wind will blow over above you and you will survive, that's why nothing happened to the flower pots
Damn I’ve been to Portage many times. I found the weather there to be way more mild than here in eastern NC and we rarely get tornadoes. Actually I’ve never even seen one in my 27 years of living here.

Big tornados
I live in Northern California. I'll take the possibly of a big earthquake every 10 years over the possibility of tornados every year. And yes, I lived through and experienced the huge Loma Preita quake in 1989. I was working at a day care, and it was terrifying. not just for the kids but also for me.

I am all about these families who instantaneously go to their basements
I’m not an arborist, so apologies if this is a dumb question, but are any of those trees that were downed in that front yard replantable?

Absolutely ! Only $50,000 for 2 day 100’ crane rental to stand them back up. Geez man people have lost it or maybe they never had it in the first place. See those things sticking out the base of the tree ? That’s a shredded root system ? Tree’s need roots to drink Brawndo.

I'm from the UK but was visiting my cousin in Alabama when the 2011 super outbreak occurred. I got to feel an EF-4 up close and personal. My cousin's home didn't take a direct hit but the flanking winds tore the roof off. I've never been so scared in my entire life but thankfully nobody in the house was hurt. One of my cousin's work colleagues wasn't so lucky. The same tornado pulled a large tree down onto his home killing him instantly.
