Powerful Tip to Brighten ONLY the Subject in Your Photos with GIMP | Free Photo Editor

In this video I show you a pro photo editing tip to easily brighten ONLY the subject or model in your photos to make the image POP. I also show you how to make image adjustments to the subject to help bring the final composition together - creating a professionally edited image using beginner-friendly techniques.
This is a great composition to use for things like advertisements, social media posts, or websites. The huge amounts of contrast between the model and the background make it easy to add text or graphics. Enjoy this awesome photo editing tip for more professional and dynamic photography!
I use GIMP for this tutorial, which is a free photo editor most similar to Photoshop or Affinity Photo.

I sometimes like to add a small gaussian blur to the layer mask of the model so it smoothes out the rough edges like on the arms so it doesn't look like an light outline with the change in brightness and color enhancement. I think it's a nice way to blend the model with the layer below without having to be super precise with the brush tool on thin edges c:

Using a soft brush and paint over the layer mask to remove the remaining parts of the bg works as well. :) It just takes more effort

Kinda knew what you were going to do before I watched it, layer masking always comes to the rescue, I just watched to see which fit bird you picked for the video lol, It looks to me that there quite a lot of cyan in her face probably from the bounced light off her top.

I would prefer a mask refinement automation with value fields. Is there any on gimp? I'm stuck with photoshop by the way, because of cmyk typography and adjustment layers, but I'm curious.

4:38 So a white color paintbrush on normal mode when painting on a mask is like you are erasing the edges and kind of blending it with the "background" of the subject, right?

If the mask is black then using white gets rid of that part of the mask If the mask is white then using black gets rid Think I have that right:)

Hello friend, I found your channel quite interesting, but there is something I have noticed, all the adjustments you are making are totally destructive to the image. Doesn't this Gimp program have ways to work with smart objects for adjustments or adjustment layers?
