This would have cost 10k at least a year ago. It’s scary how fast this market is moving. I love it 😊 In a couple years everyone will have a power plant in their house.
I'm buying this come Black Friday 2024. I can only imagine how quickly these will sell then. It's March 2024, and they're selling them for $ 2999. I'm hoping for $ 2500 to pick up one. Love the video.
Awesome video Anker are really upping there game. With the add on battery packs that’s allot of power⚡️
That's a lot of money for this small system !
I would hope that people who lose power would not decide to power their whole house A/C. A used window unit, kept in reserve, could be powered by the unit in a pinch. Clothes dryers aren't a necessity, use a clothes line during a crisis, and stoves are best left off, again, a simple propane emergency stove (single or double) and a BBQ grill can be used as a substitute. Fridge is critical, freezers are critical, but use the food up ASAP, ditto with the fridge. Finally, reduce waste by giving a BBQ for neighbors. They'll become life long friends.

Yep 99% of what I showed wouldnt be used in a real outage unless you know its a planned outage. Fridge is a must! My no shit critical loads are 2 fridges, furnace fan and tv room.🤘
I love the real world test you did on this thing … I’m looking for a solar generator (or just a battery backup) to power our house during outages. I also love the Happy St Patrick’s Day towel on the oven door along with the Christmas decorations 🤘👍
That's AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!
Great review bud. You earned your keep by doing a very thorough job. Very informative.
Excellent, fun review!! Great information.
You need to balance your 120 V loads as although the inverter is 6000 watts (at 240 VAC), it will not run 6000 watts to a single leg of 120 VAC. So, if you want to run the saw and the air compressor at the same time, put one on L1 and the other on L2.
@GordLamb
6 ай бұрын
Actually, I suspect they *were* on different branches, and starting the saw caused the Solix to drop the opposite branch (with the compressor). Just by coincidence the lights were on the same branch as the saw. The compressor stopped completely (wasn't a power sag) so I bet that branch dropped to 0V for a few seconds; if the saw was on the same branch it would have stopped accelerating.
Excellent video thanks for sharing
I like the concept but the MPPT controller needs to accommodate at least 150 volts. Higher would be better to make it a serious home backup system.

100% agree. It should be at least 150v.....120v at the lowest. I am wondering if they did it this low to keep the RV/camper/Van people since its easy to use 12v panels. I dont actually no tho

The real practical question is not what can it run, rather, how long can it run it ? What good is it to be able to run an oven if you can only do so for 24 minutes ? Obviously, this solar genny has a great inverter system in it, but if you're really going to do home backup properly, then you probably should get two of these units with at least 1 external battery for each unit and parallel connect them for better capacity. Bridge connecting will allow you to connect enough external solar to each unit to greatly counteract your drain rate while on full blown house backup mode. Charge all Day and drain all Night. The average household will consume 3.5 Kw just cooking diner alone in the evening, whereby your house lights are on, your oven and stove are in use, and you're opening the fridge allot.
@AveRage_Joe

100% correct. In a full blown outage you would run minimal items. If you add another in parallel along with another battery or 2. You could have a really sweet backup system.

Love the way you showed in real-time how much each major appliance consumed. In a real power outage with that interlock I’d be concerned that the water heater or AC would come on when not wanted and drain the battery quickly. This is why I have a transfer switch to have more control.

Thanks! That is why I love to do this type of video because its real! With the generator interlock, you are making your panel the "transfer switch" so you can have all the control and turn the AC and loads off you want. Holy cow! Really thoroughly explained... Thanks for taking the time, man... Don't know if you mentioned it, but can it run the house appliances while charging the station at the same time?
People could also think about dual-use of a new clean metal can to store stuff in, but secondarily, use it as an EMP protector of small devices in your house or mobile locations with EMP protection tightly sealed with no openings.

I really like this unit, but the solar voltage 60V cap per input is a little off putting. But this thing is in the realm of what I have been looking to find for our whole home solution for a significant outage duration here in Hawaii.
Good to see the details for use!!! Started at 6 hours up time and with just a few test items the run time was down to just minutes. It is really good to plan a backup. Example - the battery would run any one of the items but in the end it would do 10 - 15 cycles of the microwave or about two cycles on the AC unit!!

Nice, though I do wish the MPPT charger had a higher max voltage. That's the one limit most of these units have, even upping it from 60 volts to 100 or 120 volts would be a nice improvement, especially since it can take up to 2400 watts. Price wise its very nice as well.
@AveRage_Joe
6 ай бұрын
Yeah the MPPT voltage is low. I wonder if they did that to stay in the "portable" solar market or RV market. Seems they always use 12-24v panels. 2400watts isnt bad tho. I wanted to try that so bad but its been so damn cloudy here plus Id have to go on the roof and rewire everything🙄🤷♂️

The problem with the battery UPS is it might be good for a few hours but if you lose power for a couple days your back to square 1 I would be interested in a discussion of product cost plus installation of a unit like described in the video vs. a Generac unit running off of propane or natural gas. I think right now if I had Natural gas piped to my home I would do the Generac and never have to worry about charging after a few hours.
@AveRage_Joe
5 ай бұрын
A generator is a must have in my book. A propane or NG would be a great option! I have a 5kw diesel generator for the times we have no grid, no sun and batteries are dead! I would suggest gas being the 3rd option of the three.
Excellent video! I'm sure you're right - without the soft start on your HVAC it would have tripped/shutdown the Solix (assuming the wattage initially draws +6000W - the apps usually don't track the spike since it happens so quickly).
@AveRage_Joe
21 күн бұрын
Yeah its hard to say. I wanna say I started it with 2 ecoflow delta pros paralleled together before I installed the soft start but cant remember. I may actually do it🤔
Sweet, it reminds me of the Bluetti system… which made me question my sanity after I saw the price. 😱😳 So… in summary one of these could allow you in the summer to cook lunch and cool your house for less than an hour. Still love it, but here in Texas we have outages that last days. I’m wondering how many spare battery packs I would need. 😳🤯
Hopefully, Anker can update the app to show the actual capacity in KWh besides the percentage and remaining hours.
Pop the cover is it well made and how is the battery management handled?
Thanks for all the details. Regarding UPS functionality. Can it run like a true UPS i.e. set it up and forget it to provide power to essential items? I want to use it as a UPS for my home network and my aquarium. I tried this with the Ecoflow delta pro and it just shuts off power output after running for a few weeks. Happened twice with 2 separate units. EF support eventually told me I have to "do maintenance" and drain the battery once a month for it to work as a UPS, this of course is not ideal.
Hi Joe!!! Nice that you had the opportunity to test this new Anker SOLIX F3800!!! This thing is going to set the bar pretty high for the rest of the manufacturers!!! Well, it’s already had the 2400w solar panel input while output 240V, if that is what you mean
I find solar and portable power to be very interesting. My father Inlaw was going to help with us going with solar panels but they to me would do no good as our roof would have to be replaced . Plus if power went out we would still have no power anyway. To buy enough batteries for the house as well would cost so much money that it just does not make it worth it. Now with just with one of these units there is no way to power the whole house . Anything that you plugged it that used a decent amount of power reduced the time running to nothing worth while . It would require tieing in a few together. Costing to much money to be worth it . This one seems to be rather expensive to others i have seen reviewed . It is also more important to see how these work as they are not all the same and each one has each owns pros and cons. I will look more into your channel if you go into detail on the details of any of these units . I watch another channel where they break down these units in simple detail and show why or why not it is recommended . These would be best used with a few easy to set up solar panels. Important that these generators are able to accept a fast charge through solar to be viable . Interesting video. Will check out more of your videos.
How about running the condition n the laundry same time , does it run just by the power bank ?
all the things that you showed to hook up the unit to the house.... What if we don't have those things, the cable, the 50 watt hookup and that switch in the electric panel.... Just use the regular outlets to supply the fridge, tv, computer etc.?
Hey Joe I was also wondering you never mentioned how long would it take to recharge from a 400 watt solar panels. That's kind of very important especially if you have lost power for a week or more. More importantly can you slow charge from your solar panel 400 watt as you draw power from you Anker solix f3800 at the same time?
If you could use it for a whole house UPS, that would be even better. But the passthrough power would have to support a lot more than 7200 watts. That would be the next level of solar generators. They do keep getting better though.
@AveRage_Joe
6 ай бұрын
Yeah it would be sweet if the passthrough was that much! I think they have another system coming out that is more of a wall mount that will do it all!
Look up the AC 900 blue Eddy, and you should look it up at the beginning of January 2023 or actually, no I was at March of 2023. There were selling a c nine hundred nine thousand Watts generated 120 /240 Direct hooked up to a fuse box no button nine thousand watts solar connect to it.
Hey Joe I'm just a little confused you used the 50 amp the back feed panel to run your house. But shouldn’t you have used the 30 amp 240 V to backfeed the panel. and if not why. The Math is 6000 W convert to 30 amp to 240v max on a single phase panel. Not sure how 50 amp output comes from a f3800 unit the math doesn't add up

Thats a great question. Since I dont have one, I just went online to see the running watts of a 1/2hp sump pump. It shows around 1050 running watts. If that is true, the pump could run over 3 to 3-1/2hrs. That is straight on and not turning off. If you have the expansion battery then the run time doubles. I have a question since I dont have one. Do sump pumps run for hours at a time or does it run for short amounts of time. If its on/off all the time then the run time will go way up.

@@AveRage_Joe No, but it's either a 1.0 or 1.5HP pump. About 5 years ago I got a quote for the Generac System. It included 11KW peak system. My cooking and cloths dryer are propane. Other than that the usual, Refrigerator, Oil fired furnace with forced hotwarter, TVs and lights.
Can you charge with just using one 200W Solar Panel?

Yeah you could. It would take a while if the battery was low but yes, you sure can.
The anker only holds 3.84kWh ... in order to match or exceed a Tesla Powerwall mk2 (14kWh) you'd need a total of four(4) of them. The prices for both comparable.

Plus this option is portable so you can take it with if you move.
I find these big power stations an interesting approach to trade money for thinking. Given the cost, and the weird limitations for solar input, and the lock-in for upgrades, I just don't see this being a good option for me. I'd prefer to wire up my own generic batteries, to the inverter of my choice, and choose appropriate charge controllers for suitable solar input. Oh, and then maybe add some different batteries next year for more storage, and maybe swap inverters in a couple of years to handle bigger loads. I think I'm covered for transportable stuff... I purchased a Delta 2 Max last spring to fill most of the portable niche. I can use a 48v battery on the solar inputs to pump in 1000 watts of "expansion." I also have 200Ah at 24V and a 3kw inverter on a tool cart for "transportable." The battery is split with a big anderson connector so I can swap to 400Ah at 12v and use a smaller inverter for longer, low wattage use.

With all due respect, your entire comment IS the reason why these units are and will be so viable and popular. Remember the rule, people pay for convenience.
hi amigo nice to see you posting videos i will say the back up nice item but need some work.. for in rush you can see the flicking and the capacity for one unit like this at lest 280ah i know you can add more but to much mula $ for what you can get for the price in other units or options out there.... the idea is ok ,,, but need some work

Hi, at minimum usage how many days can it last ? Thank you ✨✨🤟✨✨

Id need a little more info for your "minimum usage" term. Give me an example of what you would want to power. Example: A fridge, my fridge can run over 2 days on this.
for how long?
Afternoon Joe, guess what I just brought. If you said a solar tester yes.

Lol
I just don’t get it with these battery stations. So it showed you had 4 hours of battery left, or a lot less if you actually power stuff. What are you supposed to do when that battery runs out? Roll solar panels out and wait hours or days for it to charge? I have the solix c1000. It will power a little space heater for about an hour and a half. I just don’t get what you’re supposed to do once it’s dead. Wait for solar?

It helps you survive a little longer without power. They don't replace your usual power source while you live as if there is no outage. People are spoiled to the point they can't make adjustments for a few hours or a couple of days by conserving energy.
Can this charge via DC (solar panels or external battery) at the same time as providing 240V output? Wondering if we can trickle charge it in an emergency while the AC is still running.

Ya you can still use it while DC charging.

Perfect, thanks! @@AveRage_Joe
does this have a outdoors weather rating or is it required to be run indoors only?

Yeah you can 100% use outdoors BUT of course you dont wanna leave out in the rain.
