    What type of home electrical system is required? We live on acreage in a 1920, 2.5 story barn. Remodeled into a home on the lower floor in the early 1960's. The other levels are used for storage. * * We have the old-fashioned wiring (grey) and a standard or smaller box. It is all grand-fathered in. * * Could an old electrical system handle the AC300 . B300? * * Our use would be "periodic" power to an older 20 cubic ft refrigerator; an older 7 cubic foot chest freezer; a new 3.5 cubic foot chest freezer -- each in a separate location and no plans to attach a solar generator to all at the same time; attaching to the solar generator to "refreeze" a unit, during a power outage, separately. ... We do have power outages. Longer one in the 70's for 2 weeks; one in 2019 for 10 days. Otherwise, not longer than 2 or so days. ... Powering a Goal Zero or Greenworks electric weedeater; electric chain saw/electric pole saw/; using a Schumaker smart battery; using a Yetti 1,000 solar generator and Boulder Briefcase solar panels. Using to recharge tool batteries. . . Also, to draw water up from our well during power outages. * * My plan would be to charge up my Samsung cell phone the "regular way" (not using the power circles on the top) - just using USB. Household light would not be involved - we use Crush Lanters; battery candles; safe lanterns and various battery and USB type lights/lanterns, a Torch flashlight. * * If this is a big no re: the AC300/B300 -- any recommendations for another/other solar generators? * * * It would be so helpful for us, if we could get replies/comments/suggestions. Thank you.

    I have a question maybe you could answer. Thinking about getting the 300 but want to know if the battery is charged and you have it hooked up to 600W of solar will that extra go to run the things you have plugged in or is it just wasted because your things can only run from off the battery. Thanks in advance:)

  • @FrugalRepair

    @FrugalRepair

    I might be misunderstanding your question but it wouldn’t be wasted since the solar power would either be replenishing what is taken out of batteries or directly running the AC inverter.

    @@FrugalRepair I guess that is my question. If the solar in putting more in than the battery needs to be charging will the extra power go through the inverter and run what is plugged into it or is that extra power wasted. ie 600w coming from solar, battery is charging at 300w will the other 300w go through the inverter and be used by whatever is plugged in or is it wasted since whatever is plugged in must be powered by the battery only?

    @@FrugalRepair Thanks for your help. Some do and some don't. Wasn't sure about the blueitti 300. Guess it depends on the size of the inverter and solar controller setup. In a RV setup for example there isn't any waste if you have something running using the extra power not going into the battery. Maybe these solar generators don't work that way and everything must run off the battery only:).

However, I connected two AC300 with a AC300 Fusion Box(P030A) and set it to Split Phase. 1. Connected the Fusion Box to my home's Transfer Switch with a GearIT 30-Amp Generator Extension Cord (10 Feet) 4-Prong 120/250-Volt 7500W, NEMA L14-30P/L L14-30R, 10 Gauge SJTW Locking Power Cord. 2. I connect the same AC but when it kicks in turns off my P030A Fusion box. I have to disconnect the cord from the Fusion box and connect it again for the light to go green again. Question? What is going on? Is there a limitation on the P030A. Is there another configuration that must be set. I need someone from your team's technical support.
