Power Set Stable and Event Update May 2024

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's all been a bit sparse and sporadic this year for personal reasons; however, I think I'm back to near normal - define that as you wish - so let's get going again with a general update.

Many thanks Phil. Ahhh that explains why the Dakota was over us as we seem to be on the route south for BBMF aircraft from Coningsby.

Hey Angus, really good to hear you’re feeling a bit better in yourself, all we can do is look after number one at times and no bother in being a bit sporadic on your posts, your health and well-being is much more important. On the health and well-being of motorbikes, beautiful BSA motorbikes thank you so much for taking the time to share these beautiful machines with us…. I was so fortunate to be amongst machines like this when I was a young man having my own beautiful A65T 1969, my friend had a 1967 version of the 650 but also had a 250 Starfire and a B50 like yours, my brother had a B25SS…. in recent years I’ve been wanting another single preferably something very similar to the B50 but as yet I’ve never seen or felt anything quite like those beautiful BA singles….. on the other hand I have also considered whether I want to get my hands that dirty again much as I was competent back in the day bringing them back to life and reliable….. I’m in the process of restoring my 1980 R80/7BMW which I’ve owned since 1983. Actually, on the point of restoration, did you powder coat your frames or use something else? Because I have a pondered on how far I wanna go with my restoration and rather get out on it and ride it… Anyway, good to see you again and thank you for stirring nostalgia and passion for these lovely machines, cheers John

Thanks for the kind comment John and the anecdotes - I always find these interesting and I'm sure the channel community do too. You and your family and friends were clearly Beezer bred! I'm sure the BMW will keep you busier than restoring a BSA single. I do have my frames powder coated - there's a local company near me that was able to make a batch of dove grey matched to a NOS part. So the A70 is the nearest we'll get as a match to the factory grey on the Fury roadster. The Fury SS was done for me by someone else and is not quite the right shade, and that's the same for the Rocket Three. People quote RAL7038 as a match but it's not. Anyway enough of that and thanks again for the kind comment and interest.

You've done a nice job on those Bonnie mudguards! Any plans to display that DOHC A65 head anywhere? I'm hoping to get back to the NMM as they've now got a pre production and BSA badged Hurricane.

Hi Andrew - not too bad on the guards but thanks. Not sure when the head will be out again - maybe Stanford Hall with the A70 perhaps.

Hi, I was just thinking about you yesterday ! Is the BSA National event members only or will they have one day open to the public like they used to when the event was held at Market Harborough RFC ? I have said it before, your A70 is superb !

Thank you Bruce - very thoughtful and considerate. I was a biomedical scientist so have access to scientific papers and know my genes that form part of the aetiology. I know my long term condition well but it was a new treatment I was prescribed that caused the depression - that’s now stopped and all is so much better. I don’t know about bugger but thank you.
