I want to get solar ASAP, I have a generator for now and it's running and powering my critical devices including a window ac unit I keep for just this purpose. What do you have besides spoiled rotting food and a house so hot you can't bear to stay in it? Just curious... when are Texans gonna learn and stop hating on solar and wind power? I don't mean solar and wind farms, either as they are no better than the fuel power plants we have today, I mean solar on your home's roof and a wind turbine or 2 that you can take down and store during the storm and then put right back up again once the storm has passed! Every home in Texas aught to be energy independent, the "grid" should be for backup purposes only!!! The power outage problem in Houston following the recent hurricane underscores a major issue with infrastructure. It's concerning that in a city where residents pay significant taxes, they still experience outages due to outdated above-ground power systems. Houstonians rightfully expect better service in return for their tax contributions. It's imperative that CenterPoint Energy and city officials prioritize upgrading to underground systems to ensure reliability and meet the expectations of its residents.

This is what makes it worse. Losing power to me, isn't that big of a deal. Even if for a few days. It's the off grid feeling once power is out. It cuts off internet, phones, everything. So, you are back to the 1900's. ;) Add lack of communication from Centerpoint and it makes it worse so.

Best comment I’ve seen. Power outage we can handle. Not being able to get updates, internet slacking, barely can make phone calls and text messages not going through is what pisses me off the most. This so called technology is for the birds.

For me it's no power in the extreme heat or extreme cold. I can handle the rest if the temp was like 70 and 60 at night.

@@tiamarie1226 Haha, absolutely. Give me no power in Maui and I'll take it all day!!! :) I'm with ya.
There is no damage on the lines for 77014 and you guys have power on for restaurant businesses but not homes wtf
I bet her house has power and she’s sleeping good
Why is your outage system still down from 6 weeks ago? Also we have a downed power line and can’t even get through by phone, social media or internet. Totally unacceptable
In northwest Houston near Klein I haven’t see 1 crew at all and the power lines really aren’t down here. Haven’t seen 1 crew in 2 days
What about Angelina County??? We have no power in parts of the County please help!!!!
I can not believe she was willing to go on air and even reveal her name. People are livid and losing SO SO much.
TEXANS NEED TO RISE UP IN THIS MONOPOLY SO WE CAN BE “TEXANS HELPING TEXANS” . HEB said it best.
When all this is over some people from CenterPoint need to be held accountable I have yet to see work trucks/crews in my area I have driven all throughout searching for gas and no work crews to be seen

They were supposed to be accountable on hiring Now it’s time to replace them All of them Get some bids on a better system NOW Anger is rising
Not in a hard hit area and we are still without power she is a liar
CenterPoint no longer has a power outage map. I noticed that Entergy in East Texas has an excellent power outage map. Why not CenterPoint?
centralized control does not work, too much time wasted waiting for "red tape" and top down decision making
Half?!? The real number of people without electricity is closer to 3 million
My power was going on and off on sunday before the storm even hit . The apartments across the street never lost power at all ,and i didnt see any power lines down in my area ,and no centerpoint trucks either .
I think we can all agree we can't wait or depend on Centerpoint so, we have to better prepare ourselves when this happens...why? Because it will happen again! Here's my list of things to have! 1. Have some type of lithium battery bank (have more than one handy)and have it fully charged for your mobile devices and handheld devices. 2. Get a portable lithium battery charger with a couple of outlets on it similar to a power bank. There pretty inexpensive on Amazon. I'd get a couple of them if you have a big family. If you can afford a bigger one get one that can you plug your fridge and microwave. 3. A small to medium size portable A/C unit they have some that can be for bedrooms or small rooms. Cheap on Amazon as well. Small fans will help they can be plugged into the battery chargers. 4. Of course plenty of food non-perishables and water don't wait till the last minute to have the bare necessities. A couple of ice chests with plenty of ice. Yes we are all busy and life happens sometimes, but keep an eye on the news hurricanes and storms always change directions. Even if it's not a direct hit the outer bands can still do some damage. 5. Last but not least a gas powered generator they come in all different sizes some are affordable of course the beefier ones can supply a whole house. If you live in an apartment get a small portable one with several electric outlets. Fairly cheap on Amazon or your local hardware store. Have some gas stored for the long haul. I know there's more that can be added to this list, but this my list. Hope it helps someone!

Helpful list. I did have 5 portable chargers I charged before the storm . I keep lots of cases of water . Nornally 1 loaf of bread in the deep freezer too and I had a gas can with gas. I did fill up my tank before hand (glad i did) gotta work on the generator / power source things i cant go thru this again
When? What time? Rough estimation? Don’t know? Please put the resignation letter in. This lady definitely working in the wrong industry
Northwest also wants to know!!! Hope it doesn’t take 3 days for each million 🙄🙄🙄
This is not their first time, they were not prepared for this. NO EXCUSES.... North Houston Little York area
Still no power in Pearland. We do see 50-75 utility trucks parked at Pearland high, but they’ve been there seen this morning and haven’t seen much movement. Total failure on the CenterPoint executives. Thank you to ground workers doing the work.
i see some of us have power. but good job to her. may the gods restore power soon ❤
I think its time to move into the 21st century and start replacing 19th century electricity delivery.
Angelina County doesn’t have much damage but we have no power in most areas, but a bunch of power trucks sitting in Walmart parking lot, why?????????
