I've been using three of these in series in my van and I am very happy with the performance. Excellent value, good customer service great product for half the price of those super " proud" brands..
Excellent review Brad. Subbed!
real nice. every powerqueen I seen torn apart has been a great build. This red wire on BMS is for power pos for that smart switch . most inverters that come with cables are CCA wire and get warm and have voltage drop under load. use OFC or pure copper. the wires inside are. thank you for the look inside of that one.

I"m really impressed at how cheap Power Queen is but how quality their cells are. 65A load and the cells are holding at least 3.20V. Halfway through the cells have dropped to only 3.15V. Its not until you get around the 75% mark that the cells hit 3.10
I have some Power Queen's batteries, a solar charger, and an a/c fast charger. No problems and good performance from all. The 100A mini-premium with the 2 fold-down handles is an exemplary battery.

Hi Brad. Great video. I am trying to decide whether to purchase this 100 Ah battery. Do you know if the battery turns off automatically after some time? Was just curious if it would turn itself off while I would be camping or if it will continue to provide discharge as long as I do not turn it off. Any further information on the power button would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Just bought 2 of the group 24 100 AH batteries. Charging them one at a time before paralleling them. I will let them sit for 24 hours each before connecting them together.
Well gee, you're right - that does look exactly like the LiTime...

I think the extra red wire is for the on/off functionality, kinda like a permanent live in a car.

I never use CCA wire ever. Fine strand welding wire what I use and I solder and crimp the terminal ends
The red wire to the bms is to power the bms's functions operated by the push button.

The LED light on top needs power via the BMS
I have a TimeUSB 100AH Smart battery and it is identical to this one with features and even the manual has the same information but with the different graphics. Another difference is the color of the enclosure. I suspect that one manufacturer is selling these to multiple resellers and they just customize the way the battery looks. My battery has the same power button, cam with same bolts and even the box and packaging is the same. But I did not open mine so far. I bought mine in June 2023 and been using it in my vehicle to run a refrigerator and battery is charged by 200W solar panels on the roof and when engine is on the car charges it. Anyway I think many companies sell the same battery but with different graphics and colors.

Wow great review. I believe they use the same bms in the heated and Bluetooth models of that battery. Is there anyway you could sell me that battery or one you have or even some cells please
Isn't it bad for your inverter to let the current inrush like that?
Any idea what it would take to read the cell voltages? Take it apart and add 3 terminals to the top or maybe something more elegant.
@BradCagle

Yeah, you would have to open it and add the terminals. AFAIK
Power Queen seems to have a good build and price. I was looking at Li Time that is a little more expensive. Question - do you know what the idle consumption is on the Leesky inverter? Edit: from the Amazon page it is listed at 2a idle so - 24 watts?

Just bought two 190 ahr Power Queens. Hoping for the best.
Great video, but why was it showing 3.7v when it was OFF? Does that mean if it was in parallel with another battery that this battery would accept a charge? Why doesn’t it show 0 votls?

I think it's how the MOSFETS in the BMS are arranged. You can still see a little voltage, but that would drop to 0 soon as you try to pull a load.

(1.) If you've ever ran a BMS controlled battery pack (like those powering a drill, laptop, phone or tablet) completely down (below it's minimum operating level powering the actual BMS) good luck on rebooting it. But rather than applying a parasitic load (i.e. indicator) on the battery as such ...that little wire is made available; which in itself can be monitored by (say) a charge controller of sorts. (2.) Because it's strictly for monitoring I suspect, it's never intended to act as current source but too could act as a "last chance" to keep the BMS operational and monitored. 😊
Just bought two 190 ahr Power Queen batteries last night on the jungle site. $529 each. We shall see.
Maybe that icon is a amplifier? Final answer...😂

Since it says recommended charge amps of 20, is it not a good idea to use a victron mppt controller 75/15

No... the charge termination voltage is a very *not* good indicator of the cells matching and balance. We're talking China here. The bms could be allowing high voltages on the individual cells, allowing overcharge in order to put out the w/h. Or it might be jyst sloppy. I see many BMSs spec sheets stating high tolerances at voltages exceeding 0.2v/cell overvoltages. The bms should be the last frontier. The "panic" shut-off. The charger should not allow the cells reach the absolute maximum voltage for the chemistry and the load should not allow the cells reach the absolute minimum voltage. From this video I see a very steep charge voltage curve. Almost a straight line, not very much of a curve. The charger open circuit voltage should equal 95-98% (or thereabouts) of the sum of the maximum voltage of each series cell. That will lead to a very tame current/voltage curve, slowly creeping to zero current flow, somewhere a tiny bit below the absolute maximum voltage. Below as to always have a safety margin. Have a safety margin in everything because beyond the datasheet's absolute maximum ratings lies havoc, chaos and tears... And a personal thing... I stay away from "too smart" devices. (Alright, not this particular case) The "smarts" imply mcus, cpus, and firmware... The latter being more prone to failure the cheaper the device is as programmers aren't cheap workers and good programmers are few, far in between and their skill skyrockets the R&D costs. And I do not want a closed source firmware glitching on top of a few kilowatts. :)
@BradCagle

Good, point. I'll start measuring the cells at teardown while charging to see if any are allowed to go higher than normal. I recently did a battery review that allowed the cells to charge to 3.9v LOL
Жыл бұрын
@@BradCagle yep, that is pretty high and a lot of electrolyte was probably turned to gas... And the bigger issue is that these packs have no or very poor compression. Cells are allowed to swell, electrodes delaminate, internal resistance increases and it all spirals down from there...
