Power Outage on the 200 Gallon Reef Tank- Nothing is Working- Will it Crash?!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This has turned out to be a complete catastrophe. 74 mph winds knocked down power lines and the entire county has lost power. My icecap battery backup isn't kicking on and my generator is not working either. Follow me as I problem solve what is going on with my reef tank.

That was some hardcore dad reefing in the trenches, if I’ve ever seen it. Been there myself, brother! We fight the good fight! 😂

I feel like I should have changed my name to daddy reefer. These boys put my skills and patience to the test. That’s for sure!

Power outages can end in heartbreak and disaster. Happened to me early in my reefing journey and kicked me out of it for 10 years. Been back in it for the last 6 years.

This is why you test your backup BEFORE you need it……

Yep I totally agree. I did with my battery backup before. But something must have happened to mess it up. Glad I was home to fix it.

I have power outages at least twice a year. They last Anywhere between 2 to 18 hrs. They are definitely no fun but glad I'm welled prepped for it. The only scary part is what if I'm not here and out of town.

I was about to walk out the door when the power went off. I’m glad I did. If you have a battery backup for the pumps I wouldn’t bat an eye for up to 12 hours unless it’s crazy high or low temps outside. Once you get to 18 hours that’s when I would get worried for sure if I didn’t have a generator

Definitely do a dry run and fire it up just in case something happens. It took me like 30 minutes to get all my systems up and running. When it should have been simple. It’s always good to be prepared.

Nothing will work unless you do. Your toddler smacking you and spending time with you being “a problem” is wild. Many people would be blessed to be in your situation. Stay humble. Careful.

It’s still on there in the back. It isn’t able to be run with a battery back up.
